  1. Furuno rep once told me to get a new kitchen cutting board, cut it to shape and fasten the transducer to it, clean the chosen section on the hull and then apply liberal amount of sikaflex and fasten with gaffer tape to the hull and leave to dry. make sure the nylon is flush with the bottom, this minimizes problems with the transducer picking up turbulent water. I have the sounder stand off bracket mentioned above. If you know someone who can weld alloy these work as well.
  2. Whats the difference between a "fire bucket" and a "bailer bucket"?
  3. I run the 620 with an older 3500C lowrance, happy with both. I have managed to feed the GPS data to the Furuno but hardly ever used it. I have an unresolved issue with my 620 in very shallow water that i need to resolve (could be me) at times with the furuno i wish for better resolution. but if you take the trouble to work it manually it seems very good. But alas nothing has found me fish lately I have heard good things about the HDS series fishfinder
  4. Me three Was at JB and and could raise a bite.
  5. Does anybody know why the NSW oppostion has removed there "Marine park Disallowance" motions from the so called Council notice paper last month in State parliment? Bob in my posts I dont think i ever suggested the TSP stood up for anglers (they have there own agendas) its just i know a lot of shooters who fish. I just said that anglers should take a leaf from there book and create a single voice.

Hi all Up in forster till friday, havnt had any luck. Hoping somebody could give us aome ideas. We are staying at the keys and with the wind am trying to stay near wallis lakes but will try anything to get a catch
  8. Geoff many thanks, i think this is where i am going wrong. Boomer battery box is important IMO in an alloy boat, the acid and the alloy do not mix to well
  9. I looked at a ratty one down the sth coast once. Looked a good solid hull to me. Many early Stacers had OMC (Johnsons) motors fitted because i think OMC owned Stacer then? The V4 motors are good motors, heaps of torque and the 90 is understressed because it is the 115 motor tuned down to 90. Emissions aside i think the V4 Johnson would be the best performing 90 around. Craig at Huett marine is the best person to tell you about both Stacer and Johnson motors.
  10. Yep but i wanted to keep the battery box's. not fussed on the open battery in a Alloy boat.
  11. I have two batteries onboard which means i have two battery box with two straps and two of those damn buckles with serrated teeth. They are an absolute mongrel to undo, is there any alternative to these crap buckles? Has anybody tried using a quick release buckle?
  12. Parra will be a tough game for the dogs it always is. I think last weeks game showed some areas where the great J Hayne has some weakness's and if they exploit that and shut down mortimer (10 mins of running a few forwards at him should work) we might get up. Anyway the good thing about being a dogs supporter is you never have long to wait for a finals play off (or premiership) GO THE DOGS
  13. Congrats to Keith, Roberta amazing result.
  14. The manufacturers use construction ply, i went to get MP from a certain retailer who specialize in plywood and he said the same CP has same qualities just some voids. The hatch i made with it has been perfect the last 3 years. PS the voids are not on the outside, it is flat.
  15. Mate this is probably the wrong place to post. also have a look in the GPS section and google marks> I have some i can send you but they are nothing special just info i gleaned from googling around. One bit of advise i can give you is if you leave your car at Currambene creek make sure there is no valuables inside AT ALL it is a bad spot for petty theft Also wear a life jacket crossing from the creek to JB, it is now considered a bar for purposes of fining you saftey.
  16. Also some public moorings on the north side near Honey moon bay, well sheltered no accommodation near there other than the camp ground (think it has loos).
  17. I think a lot of the later boats used construction ply not marine ply. still water proof/resistant as they used waterproof glue just not as well sealed in the layers, someone here will know more about it. I replaced my hatch with CP and sealed both sides with polyurethane before carpeting, came up well. You can get that plastic like checker plate they use on cars, they may not get hot, don't know if it is water proof.
  18. I think you can get Land cruiser 6 stud (80 series) with standard disks which is 140mm PCD. What PCD is Patrol?
  19. The fact that yours has been cut and joined means little, i doubt any supplier will agree with cutting the transducer cable? There is many factors that affect cable joins/splicers and the most elaborate splicing will still create problems, maybe immediately, maybe later or affect signal (IE the data). further more if the newer digital sounders are sending true digital signal down the cable there is other issues. You are much more likely to have long term success re terminating a plug on the end or using an adapter, but once again for folks reading this, modifying your cable in any way will almost certainly void your warranty.
  20. I went to work today so you had a much better day than me!
  21. Huey is of course right, you can not cut the transducer cable. you may be able to get adapters but cutting through the cables shield wil render it useless.
