  1. Matblack I've looked at this a few times (currently have a Yam 90 2 stroke) the 100 4 stroke is heavier, so your hull needs to have plenty of boyancy in the rear . If your doing it for fuel economy don't bother , the Yam 90 2 stroker is pretty economical. Consumption at 4000 rpm is simalar, only improves at WOT. Of course there quieter and cleaner. If the hull can't take wieght comfortably I would have a talk to Huey about a etec which will give you some benefits without he weight.
  2. I'd also suggest a bow rider, great all round boat IMO and fits most of you criteria. Only thing is I would look at a stacer over a quinnie if you have kids and there growing. The Quintrex's scalped bow loses boyancy as the weight in the front goes up. Once two of my three hit teen age years I started to notice a definite nose down attitude when drifting around. Now there older there not coming out where back to three max its perfect. Also agree glass ride is superior to Alloy.
  3. Thanks Geoff That's great, just what I was looking for. I will be packing the boat this weekend :-)
  4. Hi All, been a while Heading down to Bermagui after xmas for a week. Going to fish the estuary and around the harbour, but wondering what the crowds are like for launching? I know sth coast and xmas can get pretty busy and I don’t mind but I am not interested in 40 min waits at the ramp or having to park 4 km away, rather just stay shore based if that’s the case. Appreciate any advice. hoping everybody has a great xmas, thanks in advance.
  5. Hi all Any further news on what actually caused this in the first place ?
  6. Very sad to hear about your loss guys, my condolences.
  7. I am the same. Sadly all political groups go beyond in some area or another ( look at the Marxist Greens party) I don't know why a focus group like the F&H party needs to have an opinion on injecting rooms or legalization of drugs, any way I don't agree but I do with most of there other areas, and having followed them for a few years I know they will strongly fight for there core principals and have got a few of the dracion firearm rules amended. Good luck to all, sadly no matter who we vote for remember we will get a politician ! Q. what do you have if you have 100 politicians up to there necks in sand? A. not enough sand.
  8. Yeah I found that site, but did you see all the prevoius employees and dealers writing in and bagging him and the new company? Seems all the manufacturing equipment was sold and that they are using another manufacturer and using a heap of 1/2 finished hulls to make new boats, very messy it appears. Shame I always thought they were great boats, mate has a 5.4 Trailblazer and it is nice. Only thing I would have liked to have seen was either flotation (which I think the last ones had to have to meet upcoming regs) and/or sealed underfloor bulkheads.
  9. Is Trailcraft back in business?
  10. i grew up in Georges Hall not far from the boat ramp. There used to be swimming nets about half way between the boat-ramp/fish and chips shop and Milperra road. Pretty much fell into disrepair in the early 70's as the river got polluted and nobody swam. But they were erected in the 50's i think after several attacks on people. One was a girl who lost both arms and legs(legs, i think). She came back to the neighbor hood in the 70's as she had became famous for paintings she did without her limbs. Pretty much no attacks again until it started to get cleaned up
  11. Hi guys Reading and replying to this on an iPad now, works perfect so far, 2nd post. Have used the Blackberry to keep in touch but find it to hard to post and reply
  12. Hi Roberta The asus are good little net books. The whole net book concept is huge around the world. You may find That if you can get the keyboard off (not hard on lots of laptops) you may get it going as well. Of course you can always add a 3G card and get Internet just about anywhere? Some pretty reasonable plans out there.
  13. Good read mate , and it is a magnificent part of the world. The movie "Into the wild" comes to mind when you mention Alaska, so be careful! BTW did you see any Browns or Tigers, we live mid mountains and have seen a few browns but only one black in a long while. Prefer lots of blacks to one brown or Tiger.
  14. Mate good luck, watch the parking at myola ramp, gets very lonley and the cars get broken into. They have had insane amounts of weed down there recently not sure how it is now. I haven't fished JB since new year but was having trouble catching squid (catching anything) at the usual haunts. But that could be just me. worlds worst fisho Hope it goes well
  15. I left the bungs out once and cruised down Curruimbeen Creek towards JB, had Father in law and both Brother in laws in the boat. I beached it and replaced them, FIL kept smirking and took a heap of photos to be able to take the piss out me later. Only problem was when we returned to the ramp from JB he was at the helm and hit a cruiser and wrote my boat off! He has never said a word about me forgetting those bungs again! edit i have done it a couple of times since but never got past the ramp. edit i have also done it a few times again, usually when i get "help"

+1 the Hummingbirds are good to use and i think offer best value in that price range.

    My New Rig

Great rig, congrats and good to blood her so quickley.
  20. Mate i run the 90 Yam on a 5m quintrex, never bothered to check consumption but as long as i stay under 4200 rpm i seem to think it is reasonable. Contact Yamaha, they have excellent support. When i bought it the service manager had a little Yamaha book with all kinds of figures in it. I remember him showing me because he was commenting on the fact that the 90 2 stroke and 100 4 stroke had similar consumption figures at mid throttle and the 4 stroke only gained at full throttle. I have also changed to evinrude XD100 synthetic oil and the fumes have been reduced considerably (thx Huey)

    Blue Fin Boats

Humesy I looked at the larger Bluefin last year and was pretty impressed, also i think Sammy may have had one. They get a good wrap for build quality and the stringers being tight to the hull.
  22. You may even find using the large type screw ins that the centre needed for a hole saw is above the current hole for the push in bungs? otherwise the wood bung will work. Only thing i would differ from the above excellent advise is i would use rivets, alloy, blind type as the holding force is higher and the alloy rivet will have less issues over years than the stainless screws in your hull.
  23. I ussally check them every few hours. But i have only ever caught a few blueys in NSW. In Adelaide at present the crabs are on and your pot needs to be down all of a minute
  24. Mate this thread would be best in the boating section. For western sydney there is a guy at rydalmere also some of the other chains sell both gal and black springs, just confirm load rating and number of springs. PM for contact details on Rydalmere guy if you need them.
  25. i concur with pel and tuffy as well. if it is 2002 it should be a solid axle. I would guess either 39mm round or 40mm square. Unlikely to be 45mm. A solid axle would take a long time to rust through. 39 & 40mm axles are holden bearings. The gal on gal axles is not stellar to start with. Remove your axle and follow there steps, after its reassembled spray some tectyl on it ($15 @ notsocheap autos) it will not rust a long as you recoat with tecttyl. Replace ubolts with proper gal ones (not zinc) and coat those as well replacing the bearings. If the hubs are rusty as well follow the same steps. replacement unbraked hubs are not that expensive considering they have the bearings fitted already. But keep in mind these hubs have cheap chinese bearings fitted and are average at best.
