  1. I thought the ADF used that electronic shark guard system?
  2. Would depend largley on the working envrioment and service history. Regular oil/filter changes and long contionous run times like say water taxis or charter and the motors could go for a very long while.
  3. Youngy speak with Huey at Huett marine, he used to sell bermuda and knows them well. Some were made by Telwater (Stacer/Quintrex) and others were made by Allycraft. I imagine the easist way to tell an Allycraft model is the bottom hull will be out of the same shape sheeting as the side of the hull (clinker i think they call it)
  4. Mike i use a spot on JB on the north side. it has worked a couple of time for me in daylight (not at xmas though ) It was shown to me years ago by a guy that exclusivley worked it at night, he would drift with a foam box over the side, the middle of the foam box was cutout and a sealed beam car headlight was silconed in and conected to a battery and his jigs trailed behind the box. I have never tried it myself but sounds a solid idea
  5. Yep same on the 90hp, but it seems to right itself, my older 60hp was shocking for it. Make sure you remove the tube from the top of the engine and blow out backward. my fix is i now use the GPS for spped and never look at the speedo
  6. Same thing happened to me over xmas although i removed the prop as soon as i got back home from the ramp. i cleaned the seal area and checked the gearbox oil and then left it there with the prop off to see if the seal leaked. If the seal dont leak and the gearbox oil dont emulisfy you should be ok, unless damage to the seal is enough to show up after a few hours use.
  7. With that budget i would think the lowrance X515C would be on the mark, Good sounder and can be had for $800.
  8. Make that 3. Boeing spent years building miltary jets and that robust extends to there commercial stuff. I fly a lot and I love travelling in the 747 always feels safe. Not looking forward to my 1st flight in the block of flats (380)
  9. Hi All Just got a Dawia 4000 bait runner reel and 7ft 6-10kg ulgy stik. it comes with 2 spools and wanted to set one up heavier should i get the oppertunity to go after some Kings. Was going to back it with some cheap 30lb mono and then use either 20 or 30lb braid for line. I choose those sizes for the diametres. Does this sound right? Reel specs are 10lb 300yds 12lb 260yds 14lb 210yds
  10. I hope i am not starting something but why did you disconect the oil injection if it was obviusly working?
  11. I just fitted 5m of 8mm chain to our 5m bowrider and spent a week at Jervis Bay boat never mooved once.
  12. Any body got the marks for the sunken breakwall along the crookhaven river? located between the punt and the inlet somewhere.
  13. Yep a Merry Christmas To everyone and their families. Thanks Mr & Mrs Swrdfisherman and all who help provide this great site. travel safe and good fishing.
  14. Was up there last hols. Didnt do much good either, water ways are very shallow as it has not been dredged for ever. seen some people doing alright flicking plastics at the sand banks hanging over the channel. Also end of the break wall near the golf course
  15. I am hitting JB next week. Going to try long nose, middle ground and a couple of spots for squid. If any body has any good flathead spots i would appreciate any tips or suggestions either by reply or PM. Would dearly love to catch some snapper and flatties to prove my local outlaws wrong. Cheers
  16. Hi Deezal Huey is right, i have the Yamaha 90hp on a 5m and no way would i have it on a 6m vessel. Good motor, quiet, economical etc for a old 2 stroke but not the most powerful 90 out there.
  17. I cant lay claim to the idea. The guys at furuno told me that when they have a problem with a transducer reading at speed they fill between the hull and transducer with sikaflex and smooth it off. Iam just modding there idea. I understand some transducers need to be lower and that they cover them to reduce the rooster tail?
  18. I am afraid it will happen, unless we act, hard. Read the article, the minster is refering it to the Marine Parks Authority for suggestions/recommendation. An association with only 5000 members have got a govenment minster to refer it to a government department with a vested interesting in creating more parks! Could already be too late.
  19. Dont know yet, not takin the boat out until xmas.
  20. Roylo I just made up this to try and help the transducer read at speed
  21. Look forward to hearing what they say, But they are 2+years from office. Could be all over by then.
  22. This needs a concerted combined effort. Look at the way the Shooters united and formed the shooters party and what they have achieved, two members in the NSW Senate. We need to band together and form an association just like our opponents. Ross your mate ET would be a good figure head well connected and respected. Support could/should come from the likes of BLAH BLAH BLAH, BCF, BLA, Shimano, BRP, Yamaha etc etc (apologies on breaking of site rules on these names) these corporations will be directly affected by these sorts of decisions and should support us. We need a meeting chaired by someone with experience and get delegations organized and get going on lobbying. Perhaps the Shooters party can offer some assistance in getting going? As most shooters I know share the same respect for the environment and sport.
  23. Steve you can buy studs. The old ones need to be pressed or knocked out and then the knew studs can by pressed in. Not hard unless the hub is badly rusted.
