  1. Also if you look at Emma Hursts FB page on this it's pretty clear that they are not our friends and would be happy to ban most forms of outdoor sports and animal husbandry. There is two things on there that really disturb me and two was all I could bring myself to read . She claims that she is fighting for the fish caught at the bottom of a trawler net and being crushed to death - So she really wants to stop Australians eating meat and seafood and convert us into grass eaters. I’m surprised the commercial sector hasn’t had a go at her for that one She is concerned about the welfare of an octopus that is being bashed against the rocks - i the Occy is brain spiked first it doesn’t feel anything and this technique of tenderising has be used for centuries . The next thing she will be trying is to ban power boats because the noise of the motor is giving the fish a headache 🤣
  2. I don’t understand your logic on this one , you are condemning the people who are trying to stop us from having some stupid law jammed down our throats . If it wasn’t for groups like SFFP and the various others on social media bringing these reviews to our attention in time for us to make comments on them we wouldn’t know what hit us until it was too late , that is exactly what the people who are pushing for these changes want - us to know nothing until it is too late . I think you may be missing the point , it is not about banning live bait but the subtle changes to the meaning of things like cruelty , harm , pain , suffering and adding things like physiological and psychological harm to the legislation . While these terms are all fine and well for most creatures , I don’t think it should be for fish ,crustaceans ,molluscs and the like . The biggest problem is with the way this legislation is worded as it leaves a great many things open to personal interpretation of the law . The Animal liberationist and anti fishing lobby will stop at nothing until we have lost our rights and freedoms .
  3. Ok so how long will it take once these laws are legislated for the animal protection lobby , PETA and the anti fishing lobby to claim that fishing is causing unnecessary physiological, physiological harm and distress to fish ? How long before they claim that catch and release is doing the same thing and therefore unnecessary ? As far as I’m concerned fish ,squid , crustaceans and the like shouldn’t be in this legislation.
  4. Ok so now they think fish get depressed ! Well respondent #54 does anyway !
  5. The reply by respondent #37 worries me . Octopus yes as they have proven to have some intelligence but a lobster ?
  6. I mostly fished Lucy’s break wall or the outlet at Eraring. I would look around speers point , Teralba , the esplanade and marmong point. Look for bridge pylons , finger wharves ,marinas and rock walls .
  7. I changed the impeller on my 2003 Yamaha last year as part of a full service and the mechanic said the plastic housing had some heat damage due to no water in the pump , I remember this happening when I was flushing using the ears and it was running for about 15 seconds at most as the ears have to be in just the right spot to work properly on this motor . He said the impeller was still in good condition which is pretty good service for 17 yrs .

    Live bait pickup

You would need to run an additional hose with a check valve in the line up to the outlet of the pump if your pump is not a flow through type . If it is a flow through type you could hook this up to the original inlet using a length of hose and some fittings , it would give a neater fit out .

    Live bait pickup

What you need is one of these - a transom mount water pick up .
  10. The biggest killer is running them dry , sitting for 12 months won’t hurt it as it is a relatively new impeller- if it was an old one I would say change it as impeller can get a set in it if left sitting for a long time and to stop this just go out to the boat and turn the motor over half a turn once a month . You should always start your motor before you take it out just to check for any problems , I have seen people at boat ramps tying up one lane trying to start a motor or trying to work out why there is no water coming from the tell tale - could be a pump or it could just be some sand stuck in it and I have had mine blocked by a tiny wasp making a nest in it . Another thing you should check is that the thermostat is opening .
  11. I would check that there is spark at that clean plug first , it might be a dead plug from new or a coil has died . If that cylinder has no ignition it is acting like a pump blowing air fuel mix out into the exhaust . Your compression is ok for an old motor and doesn’t show any real difference between cylinders . If that clean plug is from the lowest cylinder ( I think bottom left cylinder is the lowest ) it could have a blown crank seal and it could be blowing the crank gases out into the leg as the piston compresses them .
  12. Use what the manufacturer recommends or higher octane . Higher octane is less prone to detonation or pinging - never under any circumstances use anything with ethanol in it it is hydroscopic and you will end up with water in the fuel and it may damage some of the fuel system components like seals and hoses .
  13. My Yammie has to run 50:1 , Penrite at 100:1 ( if the engine manufacturer recommends it ) or in a VRO engine is probably ok . Might give the GW a go , what ratio is your engine running ?
  14. Could also be a diaphragm leak on the fuel pump causing fuel to leak into the crankcase via the pulse line or a carby needle or float sticking causing a cylinder to flood ,I would also check the choke operation just to ensure the butterflies are fully open . listening to the video it sounds like it is down a cylinder , the plugs will tell you what is going on . Changing oil brands won’t do a thing for you with this problem , cleaning the tank out is a good idea as it will prevent problems in the future . For years I used Yamalube and was mostly happy with it but changed to Penrite as the other stuff was getting too expensive , Damned Penrite smokes like nothing I have ever seen ! Last trip out I spent a good hour putting around playing with my sounder chocking on fumes and regretting the day I bought that bottle of oil - motor was blowing smoke out like a steam train !
  15. This one isn’t leaving much to the imagination ! Never knew there were quizzes like this - had a look at the site and they are damned hard !

    State of Origin

I wouldn’t be surprised if Freddy was just blooding Moses in so he has more options next year if Cleary is injured -best time to do it when you have won the series ! if it was one a piece I think he would have gone with Reynolds and walker .
  18. Can’t understand why ? What’s the difference in playing this and watching who wants to be a millionaire or sale of the century! Must be some archaic law or something .
  19. Hope this helps you visualise how I hold a Luderick rod - the line of course is wire so the camera picks it up Rod under armpit held between thumb and index finger , line between index finger and middle finger and then running around ring finger to the spool . The ring finger stops line from dropping off the back of the spool and is also used to stop the spool spinning on the strike , the line can be trapped between the middle finger and index finger if needed . Right hand to strip line or spin the spool to pick up any slack line after a mend.
  20. Roman, If you can wait until this lockdown is over you can buy the MT8144 and 650BC I have - my days of fishing for Mulloway off the beach are long past and the outfit doesn’t get used anymore- never got used much in the first place . Rod is a Wilson with Fuji guides and reel seat - 2 piece . Send me p.m if you are interested .
  21. Didn’t even know there was a tackle store in Mona vale - or if they do indeed sell torture it might be moaning vale 🤣🤣🤣 Damned spell check almost got me as well in my first post - I hate it when computers tell me what to do 🤣

    State of Origin

Blues seemed a little clunky to me but that was to be expected when the halves have never played together . I think Moses was a little startled at the jump from NRL to State of Origin but he will be a better player for it . At least this game was somewhat entertaining but would have been better if the ref had kept his whistle in his pocket a bit more and put his glasses on 🤣 QLD just wanted it more and it would be difficult to keep the hunger once you have won the series .
  23. I use a 6000bcvrrt on a mt6144 or an Alvey rock and beach special 62 for 90% of my beach fishing , it has the dual retrieve speed handle , star drag , turbo cast and vented design which makes it much lighter - fine for bream , whiting , tailor and salmon in close as I don’t like fishing too heavy . For heavier conditions i go up to an mt 8144 and a 650bc , it has the lever drag and wider spool but is much heavier but can cast a much heavier bait a lot further than the 6144. I do like the dual retrieve rate handle on the 600 as I can crank like mad and get a decent retrieve rate but you need to find out what You prefer and if you can find a stockist near you I would recommend you take a look at what they have and try to decide what you like . I use a 500b on a Snyderglass mag bream for estuary and very light beach work ( good for very lobbing lightly weighted nippers in behind the shore break for bream and whiting ) The new stealth models are even lighter The 6000 is spooled with 8kg platypus low stretch and the 650 has platypus platinum 20lb , the 500b is 12lb maxima evergreen , I used to run berkley trilene and it works ok for me . Tortue is a know favourite amongst Alvey users - if you can get it and I have heard a few good reports on some of the new Daiwa lines as well . wi
  24. It might affect things on timid fish or in really clear water - funny thing is I see people using Fluorocarbon leader and a piece of red tubing to catch whiting or a brightly coloured lure for bream . I run fluoro green braid down to a swivel and sinker then a metre of fluorocarbon leader down to a red hook for flathead and I have also run braid all the way to the hook and didn’t notice and drop off in catch rate . Back before fluorocarbon lines we used green , pink and blue mono as leader and before that linen lines were used and they all caught fish . iirc red drops out of the splectrum first so probably looks grey once it gets a few metres under the surface . (noelm posted the same answer while I was typing this ) If you want to burn half an hour of your life ( but be entertained and educated as well ) search on the web or YouTube for a little critter called a Mantis Shrimp - they have eyes like no other creature on earth - savage buggers too!
