  1. I've seen a few boats like that at the ramps over the years, it's not uncommon on older boats. I would undo the nuts and take off the backing plate and pull it through. Check the area where it comes out and if there is no obvious sign off damage put a bigger backing plate on and a new u/ring. Jeff
  2. Testlab is right the way they are wired is in parallel which increases the amperage output but will maintain the same voltage. Normally this is done when turning over a big motor. Jeff
  3. Small fish lots of bones! Yakka's (Bung) Yellow tail best live bait you can catch in the harbour, why put up with picking through the bones when you could turn them into big kings or flathead? Jeff
  4. I currently use a couple of the rectangle style traps with good success on muddies. I don't mod my traps as they work well as they are. I use fresh Hawkesbury mullet or fresh killed roosters with good success, the later when the water is very cloudy which is 95% of the time where I crab fish. Remember to use the right float with the name of the trap and your details or the fisheries might be the ones that spoil your day! Jeff
  5. I have marine carpet in my tinny without the problem. I would suggest you either don't have marine carpet or you are getting fish guts / bait etc on the floor and if that's the case it wouldn't matter what you had on the floor you will have trouble. Mine is stuck down with synthetic grass glue. Jeff
  6. A big problem is the greenies in local councils who stop land owners clearing trees around their houses. I don't know anyone who lives on acreages that wants to clear the whole lot, why would they come to live in rural areas if they wanted to do that unless it was for veg gardens or a similar enterprise. I have customers that have requested permission to take down 15/20 meter high gums growing within a couple of meters of their house and have been told they can trim any over hanging branches only! What a joke, I think most of these halfwits live in townhouses or similar and have no idea what a 5 tonne tree can do to a house when it falls in high winds or how dangerous they are when a bush fire is close. Jeff
  7. The only way to stop people parking over the top of you is for the regulating authority ( in this case council ) to have a tow away company impound the cars, it wouldn't take long for the idiots to park properly. When I was working in the city one of my customers parked where he liked as he said the fine was less than a day's charge at the parking station, then his car was towed away. After reporting it stolen, told that it had been impounded, paying the towing charge and fine, he got the message and found a legal parking spot like the rest of us have to! Jeff
  8. Talking to one of the rfs guy's yesterday and he told me they lost 1 house and they had kids at Del Rio resort in lifejackets standing on the edge of the river ready to jump in as they did not know how they were going to get them out? And their talking about similar conditions tomorrow, lets hope the weather bureau is wrong as per usual when I want to fish! Jeff
  9. Hi Tony, Fished Milton island and Bar point area last Thursday, water temp was 18 degrees. Jeff
  10. Hi Scratchie, I'm running windows 8 and compared to my old computer with windows xp this is a nightmare! I found by going into the photo library and selecting a photo then hit resize it will auto resize it but only to a set size, (where as I could resize on my old one to any dimensions I wanted to!)this is before you try to upload it to Fish Raider as it won't let you resize before you put it in the library! Maybe another Fish raider with better computer skills could give us both a pointer in the right direction? As for the fires, I just watched them on the today show, the Salt Ash and Fingal Bay fires are bad, Webbs Creek fire is still a worry but at least the wind has stopped here so should give the fire fighters a chance to get on top of it. Watching the crane working yesterday compared to the smaller eggbeaters makes you wonder why we don't have a dozen of them. The cost would be nowhere near the cost of lost houses, native animals, domestic animals and the most important loss of human life. Jeff
  11. This is the view of the fire going up at Webbs creek. I have been watching it for about 2.5 hrs Lets hope that it's contained quickly. Sorry but I can not get the size down to upload the picture! I have finally worked out how to upload 2 pictures! You should be able to see 3 helicopters. Jeff
  12. Black Trevelly is right. They do taste alright but are only about a 4 out of 10 so you have to be pretty hungry to eat them! Jeff
  13. Nice one Pete, there is a few reports of jews that size been taken around Laughtondale lately. I hear your dilemma the glasses my boys laugh at me trying to thread a line through a hook when I forget to take a pair. Jeff
  14. The Hawkesbury Classic is coming up shortly so keep them interested as a small legal jew is a good chance of taking out the juniors section. Regards Jeff
  15. No, but a bit late for me to say that. You should be fishing around Patonga wharf at this time with live bait. Good luck. Keep your hands away early hours ( CATFISH) Jeff
  16. Looks like a Horsehead ( Tile Fish) Jeff
  17. You did everything right. Your still here and there' s always tomorrow. Jeff
  18. Your very observant Spotie. Jeff Yeah the fishing chart we use is called no jobs for that period! Jeff
  19. We decided to get a few hours in on Wednesday before the rain started. Started at around 5am and fished numerious spots around Bar Point, Milsons island until around 1pm for zip. Decided to give one more spot further up the river ago that sometimes fires up on the tide changes. As it turned out we made the right choice landing 5 bream, 3 flathead, 1 decent jew and around 10 soapies in just over 1hr. The jew took a squid head and put up a good fight as it was caught on the little bass rod and reel you can see in Heaths hand. As usall with jews he took off and then decided to come up easy beside the boat. As we went to net him he took off around the boat and then started to head up the river. The little bass reel was screaming and wasn't looking like we could turn him so we pulled the anchor and followed him. It took about 10 minutes from hook up to landing him. 9kg of jew cutlets.
  20. Hey Scratchie, as the scab comes off that will get scratchie too. Very well done Tatt. Jeff
  21. There are a lot of post on this. Just look in post on the subject and I am sure you will find everything you need to know. Jeff
  22. I have not seen many motors without rust marks around the outside skirt. When the plug is put in or out it takes a little coating of resulting in corrosion in that area. Nothing to worry about. Jeff
  23. Soapies on bream gear would have given you some curry especially in that wash. Jeff
  24. If it's not in the permitted rules than they say it's not legal. However you have 1 line with 1 hook which is legal. The only difference is the way your using the line. I would say that they if it came down to the crunch it would be viewed that you have an unfair advantage in so far as you can target fish that might not be caught in traditional methods. That is the same for spearfishing or using a bow or even a cast net. Jeff
