  1. Going after crabs today and hopefully have crab for dinner tonight.

  2. They look like they enjoyed themselves. Berowra is a nice quite spot for a family fishing trip. Regards Jeff
  3. With calm seas I would hit long reef wide with your fresh squid and you would not be disappointed, as long as the jackets left you alone. Regards Jeff
  4. There's only one for kayak's in my opinion and that's the self inflating ones as any other are too inhibitive on kayak's. Roberta I would say is the best one for you to talk to about kayak fishing. Regards Jeff
  5. Their a good fish to catch and I don't mind eating them as well as long as it's bleed and cooked the same day. The only reason I hardly ever fish for blackfish now is I havn't the patience to sit and watch a bobbing float. Regards Jeff
  6. Only met you and your lovely wife once at the back to the bay get together a couple of years ago and I knew then who was the driving force behind the site. You Stewy love your fishing and everyone who talks to you knows that, but without Donna the site would stop(you even stated that on the day ) and you would be out fishing. Not that there is anything wrong with that but you can not think of yourself, have to think of all us Fishraiders that you and Donna have brought together through this site, for which I for one sincerely thank the both of you. Regards Jeff
  7. Cuttlefish candles are the best snapper bait you can get. The rest of it is not worth the trouble unless you have parrots at home and then as the name say's there is one big shell/bone/whatever you want to call it that the pet shops and supermarkets charge like wounded bulls for. Regards Jeff
  8. Hit the upper Hawkesbury shrouded in mist and a little chilly for a summer morning. Three adults and one little tiger in a small tinny looking to make a Sunday morning fishing trip a memorable one. The mist lifted and the sun poured it's rays down on 4 miserable fisho's floating down the Hawkesbury still without as much as a follow. It was around 9am before our efforts started to be rewarded with 5 bass landed within about 20minutes. Then they stopped. We pounded the water for another 30 minutes or so for zilch. Time to change location so we headed further up until we came to a nice looking snag, the tree was about 5meters out from the bank, it must have come down during the week as one of the boys fished there last week and it wasn't there then. Right from the first cast we were getting smashed. We fished all around the snag and closer to the bank. Pulled the boat out at 1pm with smiles on all dials. The tally was 29 most of which were taken on Christmas beetles and spinners with 3'" purple grub. Regards Jeff
  9. Just leaving to harass the Bass. Hopefully post with pic's latter today.

  10. Easy solution disconnect the reservoir and start using mixed fuel. My Mariner was setting off a alarm all the time and we could not find a reason for it so I disconnected the oil injecting system and now just add to the fuel. Regards Jeff
  11. I'm in NSW. When I got booked it was for a skidsteer we had on sideways and the darn thing moved a little on winding road and over hung one side by 15cm and I had a ----- of a RTA officer looking to up his quota, I would suspect. Any way it went to court and was dismissed without loss of points but I still got hit with court cost! Regards Jeff
  12. A lot of products imported from over seas have different components even if there the same brand and may cause you some problems if you need parts. I was a service manager in the office equipment industry for a number of years and we ran into quite a lot of import machines that people brought in. Mostly we wouldn't touch them as the spec's were different to the ones specific to Australia even though they were the same brand and came out of the same factory. The car industry is the same, import cars even though they are cheaper and in most cases have more features do not operate in Australian conditions. ( Toyota Surf, Range Rovers etc ) Shop around there are some good buys and at least you will have some back up if anything goes wrong. Talk to Huey at Huett Marine they have different brands and back what they sell. Regards Jeff
  13. The difference could also be how tight the line is wound on. Hand winding give different results due to what force is exerted on the line. Regards Jeff
  14. I've got a couple of bushes called Nellie Kelly that look exactly like those little red ones. They are hot to eat raw but not over hot for cooking. If you like hot food leave the seeds in when cooking if not remove the seeds first. If you eat one raw make sure you have a full cold beer ready. The first bite is not to bad but as you take the second nibble the first one starts to hit and that's when you need the beer. I made the mistake of eating one out of my veg patch which is around 300 meters away from my beer fridge. I now take a beer with me when I get the urge to punish my taste buds. Regards Jeff
  15. The schools of bait up and down the coast over the last couple of months have really brought the big boys around. Lets hope the pro's don't take a hankering to net these schools. Regards Jeff
  16. I made the mistake of buying from the boat show a few years ago thinking I was getting a good deal only to find Gary ( Seriously Stainless ) was offering just as good units for a cheaper price. That's when I decided to check out our sponsors products and prices before purchasing anything else. Regards Jeff
  17. Once you sell the boat there will be a long time before you get another one. There is always something that is more important than you having a boat. Saying that remember your family comes before anything including our great sport. If you don't need the money keep the boat. Regards Jeff
  18. Good to hear you may have found the problem. You can't beat Huey for advice. One of my sons mates took an old merc to him after the local merc dealer told him it was too old and wouldn't touch it, ( just wanted to sell him another one,) and Huey fixed it. That was 3years ago and it's still running. AAA for Huett Marine from me. Regards Jeff
  19. With results like that I would find a spare hour every day. Regards Jeff
  20. Have the roast for lunch, a good afternoon and then an evening fishing. Perfect day. Regards Jeff
  21. 2.5m wide is all that is allowed in NSW be it a truck of trailer without a permit. That's the problem with trailcraft, they were 2.55m wide which was legal in the state they were made but illegal here which all the dealers who sold other brands went to great lengths to point out. You had to get a permit to be legal. I was always worried when trailering mine because if I had an accident my insurance would have disowned me. Your lucky if the rules let you drive oversize where you are I have been done for 2.65 wide on my truck and that was on a country road. Regards Jeff.
  22. As I use grease guns all the time on my machinery I have had a fair amount of experience with all types of them. Yes the way you are doing it is messy and is only done when using drums of grease instead of cartridges as it is a cheaper alternative. I can tell you the best way is to invest in a Macnaught or similar system. All you do is buy a tub of grease, clip the cap on top push the plunger down and pull the trigger. Regards Jeff
  23. Turn the pump on in the pool and try it in the flow at different distances with different heads and then you will be able to judge which head to use when fishing tidal flows. Regards Jeff
  24. The only question I would have on that Roberta is the inflatable vest good enough to hold someone up with all that weight? I would say your best chance is to have a buddy with you and not go into fast flowing water by yourself as I understand this poor guy did. Regards Jeff
