  1. One thing I forgot to mention Larry we were using a burly bomb with tuna oil. They started to bite almost as soon as the bomb went down. Jeff
  2. I have never tried catching Jew's with mullet. Fresh squid and live bung (yellowtail ) is what I use for them. Jeff
  3. They ranged from about 15cm to 40cm. As for catching them, firstly you must become part of their environment! By that I mean keep your boat still and don't have the sun behind you. Burly the top of the water with fresh white bread. When the mullet are actively taking the bread off the top of the water throw out a unweighted 3kg mono line and wait until the fish starts to run with the hook before lifting your rod and setting the hook. I use a bass rod and bait caster reel. Just remember it is easy to pull the hook if you strike to hard or pump the fish. They are a great fighting fish when they get into the 1kg plus range. Best times are dusk and dawn as is for the majority of fish. When putting the bread on your hook make sure you leave a streamer hanging as they seem to favour this way of putting it on. I hope that helps and gets you onto some good mullet. Jeff
  4. Hi Larry, It was a run out tide and the bream were taken on squid legs. The dam yachts started about midday which was another reason we decided to pull out. It beats me why these morons tack straight towards other boats. The dope who made the give way to sail most have been just as stupid as the ones who sail the dam things. To them, give way to sail means they can do anything they like. We watched as one almost ran a couple of divers over who had floats and flags attached to them. Guess where the crew were? Sitting around talking to each other in the back well of the boat and they just cruised on up middle harbour without a glance back even though one of the divers was screaming abuse at them. Jeff
  5. Left the Hawkesbury district at 3am to fish Sydney harbour. Arrived at Roseville ramp to a very slight wind, all looked promising for a good trip. Headed straight to the wedding cake. Within 1hr the wind and chop hit making it very uncomfortable. All we were getting were octapus and bait being stolen by leather jackets. 2 banjo sharks seen us decide to leave and try the quarantine area. We got out of the wind but apart from a school of yellow tail and garfish it was dead. We then headed back over to the wedding cake to give it another go. This time we got a good position hanging from the south side back into the structure. A couple of hours seen 8 bream, 6 flathead, 2 flounder and 1 leather jacket in the keeper box. With the seas getting bigger and the wind picking up (opposite to what the weather bureau was saying ) we decide to call stumps. Jeff
  6. Thursday decided to get some bait for fishing Sydney harbour on Friday. We caught 15 in just 2 hours between 3 of us and left them crashing the bread burly all over the place. We never take more bait then we intend to use.I don't believe in stocking my freezer with bait I might or might not use. Jeff
  7. If you own Reef Magic I could understand but why would you put the name of someone else's boat on your neck? Don't get me wrong I have a number of tats but the only name on me is my wife's of 40years and that is 39 years old!
  8. Nice bruiser Pawn star! I like the way your fishing for them on light gear. Makes the capture 100 times better then skull dragon a fish in with heavy line. Jeff
  9. There's a good one which operates out of Windsor RSL. They do the theory at the club and then the practical from Windsor ramp. Jeff
  10. Hi Grant, you don't have to worry as the smelly labour government that has gangrene ( gang of greens ) will soon be out. I BLOODY HOPE FOR ALL OUR SAKE!!!! Jeff

    Fuel Gauge

It can also be as simple as a dry joint and not the sender. Unsolder the wires and manually hold them together and watch the gauge. This sometimes happens on my trucks and it usually turns out to be bad connections to the sender. (9 out of 10 times ) Jeff
  12. That's a nice table fish, you would have to be content with that for under 2hrs beach fishing on bread. I know I would! Jeff

    Fish ID

Hi Kenneth, that's a eastern fiddler ray.. Jeff
  14. Thanks friends, I am looking forward to many more years contributing what I can to keep this site the best on the net. A big thanks to Mr and Mrs Swordie who obviously put in endless hours so fisho's like me get to talk to and read about other people in the fishing fraternity on a regular basis. Jeff
  15. I agree Scratchie, he sure looks to be a well fed bream. Did you weigh him burny86? Jeff
  16. I love fishing Diamond Bay, not for Kings but the huge greenback tailor that school there during summer. Jeff
  17. The overflowing or water releasing from Warragamba turns the Hawkesbury into a chocolate soup and would not affect Towers bay. The dirty water in that area is affected by run off and as the weather has improved then less run off. Jeff
  18. Rest in peace is all I can say. Jeff
  19. Be careful Leonardgrid as what is told to you over the phone ( by any government dept ) can not be used as an excuse if you run foul of the rules. I have been told face to face that its a grey area and would be up to the inspector at the time ( Bu-ls-it) My understanding of the way it reads is you can have 5 and 1 but I would not like to leave it up to a fisheries inspector to give his or hers interpretation of the rule and maybe costing me dollars just because they are having a bad day and see an opportunity of ruining mine. Jeff
  20. I will be heading to the trailer boat show at Rose hill next weekend with the intention of upgrading my electric troll motor. I will be looking at the Cayman range. One of my sons is currently using one and has no complaints after 2 years of use. I will be upgrading my Minn Kota on my 5m Dehaviland runabout. The main power comes from 40hp and has a 5hp aux. The Cayman I am interested in is a 55lb bow mount with a foot control and also has a wrist control so I can use it from anywhere in the boat. Any of you guys using one of these or what are you using? Any input would be much appreciated before I hand over my hard earned dollars and then find there is a better one for similar dollars. ( $799 approx. ) Thanks for any input in advance it will be much appreciated. Jeff
  21. Now I know why I don't have time to go fishing as often as I want too. I'm always on here reading about all you people enjoying the greatest sport, leisure and past-time in the world bar none.( I may have put another one in there 40years ago )Looking forward to responding to lots more post and giving any advice that may be helpful to anyone. Jeff
