  1. Your a daiwa man like wise. I have a pair of saltist 50 and a mate has a 40 LW which we been using for marlin lately but was always worried that they werent up to sratch. But after seeing your video ive changed my mind. haha How much braid do you have spooled on and were you even close to getting spooled? I too have a catalina but only the 4500 for my light weight jig outfit. I probably woulnt try to get a marlin with that as i might lose my lure. haha cheers
  2. Well done man! That is some epic footage you got there. Can you tell us some specs on your outfits??
  3. Thanks for the report. Ive got a question for you? Even if you say fishing is hard atm do you come home with a feed at least?
  4. Or maybe the kings are so full from eating squid they cant fit any more in this stomach. hahaha
  5. Good stuff mate. I caught one on the weekend too but was like 20kms offshore. All of a sudden the fish are on the chew off syd!
  6. Believe it or not it was caught on a TLD 50 with a cheap ****** gimbal belt,no harness! That will be next on the shopping list thats for sure. Took 3 guys to bring her close to the boat with the 3rd guy who had the honnor at the boat had cramps on his forearm for 30mins lol. Boat was 6mtrs. Getting towed backwards? Its not that big of a marlin haha. I was reversing backwards and forwards to gain line.
  7. Would anyone like to guess the weight of this stripe marlin?
  8. I was about to post something but you beat me too it. Was a awesome day on the water. My first yft hehe. Colours are amazing on these fish.

  10. Hey guys, Quick report, Got on the water at 12am aiming for a feed of table fish for once. Hit the break wall for about 1hr and not even a decent bite so decided to moved around the drums and the oil wharf for abit till i found a patch of fish. About 2hrs on the run out tide the bream were on the bite. Landed 8 keepers largest was 33cm down to legal but they were nice and fat. I lost a few to due to have only 2 arms, the other 2(the girlfriend) was sleeping in the cabin Also landed a 50cm plus flattie which was a bonus. Surprising only 1 undersize bream and only a few pesty snappers. I had a few baits out there and the humble prawn out shine all. Had a nap b4 the sun rise then started to move around the middle of the bay looking for some surface action. Found some tailors feeding but they were rather small. Hooked a few on chromies but they all around 29cm and very shinny. Was about to go chase some kings but the wind picked up abit so i jus went home with a decent feed. Water was 22 to 23c. That's all folks.
  11. Geoff, It was pretty close to that point. The cable snap due to a steep driveway and the tow vehicle sitting to low. Other wise i think the SS cable still be in good tack. It's denfinitely shifter then other cables thats for sure. But did the job on my trailer.
  12. Cheers for clearing that up. I see how my repairs go over time and will definitley write up about it IF it goes wrong and doesnt do the job for long. hahaha
  13. Ive walked down the path of the S/S cable and rubbed it down with grease and didnt show any signs of rust at all. Used it for over a yr or 2 until we had a acident with the trailer and snaped the cable . Cost me $50 from bunnnings. Only thing that was bad about it was, it was very stiff compare to the gal cable which is what im using now and its all rusted up after half a yr. booooo Ive notice on new boat/trailers them using the plastic coating cable. I think thats the way to go. cheers
  14. Geoff, Thanks for posting up some great info on rust repairs. My trailer is showing up abit of rust and im goin to treat it b4 it gets out of hand. Ive brought some products from the hardware which killrush primer was one of them. So you reckon that wont do the job for the boat trailer? SO solvents isnt good for the trailer? cheers, Lh
  15. love your reports mate . If only i had time to go out and put your info in good use lol.
  16. Awesome report champ. You must be pretty handy in the kitchen aswell. Looks yummo
  17. Thanks for the report mate. Im hoping weather conditions are good for the new year period so i can spend a whole day down at JB. I love the place!
  18. Its not a myth its true. They patrol it few days a year. So you gota be fast and lucky
  19. Ive been out the peak and tried to load up on the LJ but they would chew everything you throw at them. Are the LJ out deeper more agressive then in shallow waters? My mum frys some tasty Lj at home but i jus cant catch enough for a decent feed.
  20. hey MM, I brought my winch from south pacific oceans about 6ish yrs now Its the 710F model with the SS gpsy wheel. Never had a problem and works a treat! Great customer service too. They use to be a sponsor for FR but i dont see them in the sponsor section no more. Worth checkin out
  21. Ive brought a few sea anchors in my life and have lost all of them because we forget to pull them up So our next plan is to buy a decent one from Boating camping fishing place which is $200 which is much larger and more expensive then ones we like to lose. So hopefully that $200 will make us more cautious in the future.
  22. Hey lads, Jus following up my thread! Parts finally arrivied after abit of shipping issues but ive installed the new regulator. Problem fixed and ready to Hard to tell from this angle but the new regulator is much more beefy then the old model. Thank god that i didnt take it out after i realise it was over charging because you can see it started to heat up and melt! See you out on the water
