  2. since we are on this topic has anyone know much abouth the JM ocean god range??
  3. Im headin down for a whole weekend of fishing on the 18th of this month!! Ive been down a coulpe of times and always brought something decent aboard. Im sure your drive wont be disapointed but even somehow you are in the fishing department its a great place jus to hang around. Ive never been out wide there but definetly goin to try the canyons and banks out for sure
  4. well done on the catch mate.... i wish we had a fad that produces dollies
  5. Very valid point there... No harm i guess just -$30 from the wallet . sure these grounds are always productive for me dont think ive ever been biten off by a jacket here its one of my best spots so please dont tell too many people about it -33.873094,151.192551 I was about to look but from some comments i guess i wont.... hi there im new at this but can anyone tell me a or give me good gps marks for long reef after kings or snapper thanks. http://www.wollongonggfc.com/index.htm take your pick
  6. Hookerbruce, I could go 15kg but most of the times i tend to go for kings at reefs and i would think 15kg wont stop them fast enough. Thats why im opting for abit heavier to run that slight heavier drag with losing to much line capacity. All my gear has braid so thats probably why i could swap to mono if it was worth the swap. Framed, I have hi-vs yellow, low-vi green and we even had red braid last yr and it still got picked at. "start fishing some grounds that are not full of jackets" wanna show me some??
  7. Great post mus and very interesting! If your totally sure that it isnt your guides that is doin the damage then i reckon its Faulty power pro braid. Only few weeks ago a friend was headin to fuji for a fishing trip so we decieded to test his gear out and luckiy we did as his so called 50lb (red colour) braid was snapping at 6kg of pressure!! thinkin that his line was abit old we opened a new roll which we brought off the same seller and exact thing happen! lucky to hit 6kg of drag b4 she goes snap! We tested some rovex and varvavis braid which didnt hit there rating but did much better then power pro braid. I know what i WONT be buying from that aution site anymore.
  8. Hey fisho, Been doin some thinking and i want to convert my saltist 50 o/h which has 60lb braid to 40lb mono which ive been told that could fit 300mtrs. My only reason for me to do this is im sick of leather jackets eating my braid when i chuck a livie out to the bottom. The bloke at the tackle store reckons they will eat the mono aswell?? Also heard mono is more suitable for troll due to the stretch on mono but im thinkin if one day i do happen to hook up to that 100kg marlin would it be enough line so i dont get spooled?? Yay or nay?? cheers, LH
  9. I jus gave my 8500 (usa) to my mate as he uses it to rock fish alot. The penn doesnt get much use on the boat as i find them tag heavy and unbalance compares to the new reels. But to give them credit they are solid reel which caught be decent fish back in my younger days of rock fishing.
  10. That myth of LJ not eating red braid is bs....Me and a mate have been out to the peak with his red power pro braid and he still lost jigs! Personally I like usin Hi-Vis colours as u can see where your line is. My 2cents
  11. I would purely go for the gossa over the saltist because of the 1yr warranty from daiwa.
  12. Top sess mate!!! Far out syd kings are sure gettin fat and juciy!! Did you see anyone do well on jigs??
  13. Thanks for the report mate...
  14. I got smoked on friday downrigger a squid 1mtr from the bottom of structure... 60lb with 100lb leader lasted about 5 sec b4 my leader when pop... you win some you lose some. Im jus goin to lock up my drag next time so i dont give them a head start.
  15. I personally dont own a saragosa but i hear they are soild reels and decent pricing.
  16. Thats an insane session man!!! So jealous
  17. Ive also read on the internet from a guy that actually own one which the reel fell apart and which the company didnt live up to there 5yr warranty. I personally would stick to the known brands eg saltgia
  18. Ive got a ally boat and not that happy when on the move and ive been told to chuck a coulpe bags of 20kg sand in the nose to hold it down. Havent done it yet but maybe you could do the same to compensate when your soloing. Jus a thought
  19. Ceph, Very smick end result there... And 175hp suz on the back.... that thing must fly !
  20. Hey guys, Got a wierd noise comin out of my mates penn 8500ss (USA model) About every 10 revolution it makes almost like a pop or click sound but if i take the spool off it doesnt make the noise. I have 2 reels that ive swap over internals but cant get rid of the noise!! The reels have been cleaned and service by me courtesy of slinky thead. Im pretty sure everything is put back right because the 3rd 8500ss i have works fine.... I should add my mate said he sent the reel to penn a few yrs ago complaning about a click noise but they jus brushed him off stayin there wasnt a problem with the reel...r The reel was punnish fishing off the high cliffs for pelagics. Can anyone shed some light?? TIA,cheers
