  1. but dont you have the problem of them bitting off the whole rig where your main line is??
  2. hey chris, I would love to bag out on LJ but i dont know how! Wanna share your skills with us?
  3. hey raiders, Quick report for the peak. Got to the peak about 10ish with the water been reasonable flat when we got there we chucked a bibless and a skirt out the back while sounding for fish down low. Seem pretty bare at start but found some arches mid water which turned out to be bonnies. We did abit more searching for kings and found a nice patch mixed with alot of bonnies. Ended up with 5 rat kings the biggest was 64.5 cm and a heap of bonnies. Only lost 2 jigs to LJ which is a record for us its normally about 15. But was good on to be on the water and comin home with tonned arms and shoulders Btw tried bottom bashing but LJ still eat full mono setup !! U jus cant win with these ( Kingfish protectors) evil fish around Cheers, LH
  4. Man the finish on that looks top knotch. Did you spray her your self?
  5. fishingphase, dont stalk me pls! Did have a outing last week and put some blood on it. Tho it was only fat slimmies that were biting, It sure was cool in free spool mode. Makes life abit easier! Hopefully next outting something with abit more grunt slams my rod.
  6. Look at the swell in the back ground!!! INSANE Gw on the yft too!
  7. solid kings mate. well done!
  8. Prawn, I had friday off and was planing on a jig session up that way but we decided to head south to find some reds. Most of the wrecks and reefs we went too had a seal or 2 which would steal our fish Couldnt do anything with them around.
  9. i dont mind if i hear a bang just not a crack.
  10. Yes,thats what the bloke said at the tackle shop. These get imported in by viva tackle also.
  11. dandre, yep goin all aluminium do to weight factor. huey, You have a good point and TBH didnt even think about if the behaviour of the boat would change. I will consult my project mannager and get a suitable answer for this issue. I hopping the decision togo all aluminium will not affect her so much in weight wise. I weight up whats comin off and do the same for what is to go on and see the differents. Fingers cross its minimum. Thank you for your wise words.
  12. Hey guys great feed back on this topic! I havent had much time to use the all the lures except 1 time where i used a halco trembler with setup 1 and the rear assit fouled up. * shrugs * Didnt have any runs on the lures that day but probably have to wait till the water warms up to have a good crack at what works best. Tse boys at nomads uses setup 3 and reckons thats there hook up rates have gone up.
  13. My misses works in canberra and when it gets cold we go to the mtns to go snowboarding next best thing to fishing .
  14. 4500 catalina falls right in your budget. Solid reel for ur jigging and live baiting needs.
  15. Hey guys, Jus turned a certin age ( i keep that to my self ) recently and a few good freinds gave my a gave voucher at the local fishing store. The out come is... Shimano ci4 thunnus 4000 bait runner matched with a browning 7'6 4 to 8kg. Never heard of this brand apart from making guns back in the day but when we loaded up it really impressed me. I acutally choose this over a Nitro magnum butt due to the softer tip and a nicer bend plus the cheaper price did add to my choice too . And another bouns, its a 5 piece travel rod that comes with a case!! It will have 20lb PP braid and main use will be bait fishing. Tho im sure it will do well when inshore kings are back on during the summer. What you reckon guys??
  16. hey guys, Due to this lovely stay indoors weather i got my design engineer (aka gf) to draw me up some designs on my hardtop conversion. Out of those pictures im leaning towards the top middle pic as it looks the best but the bottom middle pic gets good marks due to slightly better protection from the side cause of the more screen area. Im still thinkin of what grab handles i want! The middle design also acts like a ladder to climb on the roof to act like a fly bridge I jus added in the slopped roof to stop water dipping back near our seats and head so in turn would run forward down the wind screens. What's your opinion guys?? TIA
  17. greg, I wouldnt think so. Thats a pretty good price imo for a windscreen. Plus glass would be to hard to work will and probably to britle and crack easy due to the impact of rough waters. My boat feels like it gets hits by a hammer when im cutting through the swell tryin to make it back b4 sunset
  18. Thought i give a update on my material cost so far. 1 sheet 3.6 * 1.5 3mm = $482 amazed at the price jump from 1.2 to 1.5 wide sheet 2 lenghts of 50 * 25 3mm rectangular pipe for the frame =$ 160 3 mtrs 50mm tube = $46 rod holders for the launcher 3 mtrs 32mm tube = $30 for the frame for the launcher 1.5 sheet 2.4 *.12 of 3mm polycabonit = $280 ( cheers to brickman for the advice ) refill of argon gas and welding sticks = $100 So material cost is on budget. Now jus to have a coulpe of days free so we can start constructing the HT. I have drawn up a few sketches of how i want it to look like but im not to good of a artist so i will take pics of the progess instead.
