  1. Hi Andrew, I can help you out with techniques ect, but I cant garauntee we'll catch fish!! LoL. I work from home so most days I can get out I just shuffle things around and am happy to pay for bait and fuel ect. PM me and I'll give you my number as I'm very keen to get out on the water any time!!! Cheers, Alan.
  2. Dont forget the V sheet too although last time I had to use mine about 6 boats within viewing distance all ignored it so I had to call Maritime rescue.
  3. Whats "walk the dog skills" mean? I'm very very new to plastics and lures and am only just starting to use them and having a pool in my backyard is making it fun to learn how they act underwater and what sort of flick and wind works best for them as I can see them clear as day!
  4. Yep, mostly the electric ones that send a shock all the way up your body and into your hair! I was in the baths at Gunnamatta Bay holding my then 3 year old nephew and stood on one that sent the shock all the way up my legs, through my body and into my nephew! It scared the crap out of me but made my nephew laugh his little head off but I think that was more from my reaction to it that the funny feeling of the shock!
  5. I fish there a bit on my mates boat about 50m off the shore so not much different to if I were fishing there landbased but even in the boat I never have any real good luck there apart from the small squire snapper, tailor and occasional flatty. Although thats the very spot my "the one that got away" story was written, you know the story that every fisherman has to tell that has them wondering the rest of their life what it was that snapped them off so hard!
  6. If it were a Marlin, I would hope it would be long gone by now cause can you imagine its fate if some random caught it that had no idea on the benefits of tagging ect? I'd hate to see it in a boot of the same type of person that walks away with a bucket full of 10-20cm undersized bream ect.
  7. Probably awesome bait. If you can catch them that is!!
  8. Yep, I'd love this information too please as I'm in the same boat (figuratively speaking...LOL). I'd like to try this Lilli Pilli hole some time too!
  9. Love that little Dolly!! I've never seen them that small even in pictures!!
  10. 1.4kg for a first muddie dude thats awesome!! We used to get big muddies while on Exercise in Shoalwater Bay setting some stinky road kill roo in the traps in estuaries and creeks that no-one has access to fish and man we used to get some big ones up there hey! We set one trap out and when we came back later on there was a crab on it too big to get into the net so was sitting on the top eating the roo through the net! I told my mate to snatch the trap quickly to tangle it up but went the slow approach and the monster crab just climbed off and strolled into the water! If only we could have got that thing to our feet I reckon it would have been some sort of record crab for sure!!
  11. Nice fish! Shame it didnt go back in but I guess if you only keep the one big one on the really odd occasion then it should be ok. But in saying that, if everyone only kept........blah lets not open that can of worms shall we?? LoL.
  12. Hahahahahahaha could be? This reply wins the internet. LMAO
  13. Post the pic bit edit it in paint before you do! I'd love to see that lizard! I'm hoping it got put back in to breed another few years yet?? We had no luck as we fished only about two hours and just as we started hooking small flatties and squires we had to come in due to the looming storm that didn't actually come over the port anyway. Oh well, the baits frozen for next time.
  14. If you are sparingly using the berley just enough so you're not feeding the fish then it should attract them to the general area. Its just the same as berleying in a boat, if the water below is 50m deep and and I have berley coming off the back of the boat, then the berley is definitely canvasing the general area as my bait will be just below and infront of the berley trail. I guess the point is to make the fish come around hungry and interested and get them to look for the bigger edible food which is going to hopefully be your bait.
  15. Yep, seen a few episodes now. One that really got my sheckles up was an abalone poacher that had the worst attitude and just didnt give two hoots about it, and was actually asking what would and wouldnt be confiscated on his next illegal haul. The credits at the end said he had been convicted whilst on a conviction and ended up in prison. People like him will end up doing it over and over again anyway. I hate it when I see illegal stuff happening and the criminals getting away with it, and that coast watch show is the worst for it along with all those border patrol shows ect. Whats the point in having laws in place if the people breaking them are just going to walk off scott free???
  16. I balance props for RC aircraft all the time so I wonder if balancing a boat prop would be just the same technique? If you do happen to get a new prop, let me have a go at balancing the old prop for you hey? You never know, if it balances just like a 3 bladed aircraft propeller and sits well on the balancing rig then I think you should end up with a nice spare!
  17. I was gonna say, if it had only just been hit then thats alright but had it been floating for a while I would have given it to the pelicans.
  18. I'm going to try the recommended crap setups this afternoon but I may have to get some frozen mullet on the way out unless you guys reckon fresh slimies work? I am usually pretty good at catching baitfish but mullet I havent caught since I was younger fishing the Salt Pan Creek Riverwood-Padstow train bridge! Man we used to get some huge mullet under that bridge hey!
  19. Thanks for the tips fella's, I'll give them a go later on today! Fingers Crossed the weather stays just how it is till atleast midnight tonight!!!
  20. Hey folks, A friend and I are hoping to fish Port Hacking tomorrow afternoon/evening weather permitting launching from Wally's Wharf and I was wondering if anyone would care to share some spots with me and what we should target there? I really would love to catch some squid so if you know any good spots that would be my biggest priority whilst there as I really want to get rid of my curse of never ever catching a squid in Australia yet!!! We usually just putt around trying different spots and a favourite is just behind Jibbon there where its slightly sheltered so we can anchor down and just see what happens. I've got a few new squid jigs to try out too so I'm keen to give that a shot! And if we can find ourselves a few we might even sacrafice one or 2 on the bigger gear for some Kingies or similar! Cheers, Alan.
  21. Is the prop stuck fast on the shaft? As in, is there any clockwise or CCW movement of the prop if you hold the shaft tight? Put the motor in gear, then with some sturdy gloves try to move the prop left and right like you are steering a car but do it fast and jerky left to right. This might cause the prop to un-wedge itself off the shaft splines. If you cant do it by hand, try using a rubber mallet in the opposite direction to which the prop spins to push the boat forward as I'm guessing thats probably the case with your prop.
  22. I'm going to try some squiding in Port Hacking on Sunday night when I go out with a mate as I have never caught a squid in Australia ever!! I have only ever caught them in one place and that was Bougainville, East of PNG and they were big and easy to catch. I was there as part of Operation Bel Isi II doing Peace Monitoring on the Island after they separated themselves from PNG and became their own nation. It was the best fishing I've ever done in my life and I got a medal for doing it!! LMAO
  23. Butterfly Farm there is one but not sure if you still need to pay or not. There is one just west of there too in South Windsor and I'm pretty sure there are plenty more around that area.
  24. Also if you need the cable extended I can make cables longer pretty easily. Its just a matter of cutting it in the middle and checking how many cables are in the run then get the same cable from Jaycar and just solder in the amount you need extended. Waterproofing the joints is easy enough aswell I guess anyone with a soldering Iron and the know how to use it could do it themselves.
  25. Man if there is one thing I absolutely despise on the water (that's putting it in G-rated forum terms) are Jetskiers!!! Every single day I take my little dog for a walk down near the Georges River opposite the Flower Power ramp and every single day I see them doing stupid donuts and ridiculous speeds past the ramp. They chop up the water evfen when there are guys trying to get larger boats back on their trailers and I see the boats bouncing and smashing down on the trailers just like mine used to do at the exact same spot. The next boat I own will have a huge powerful sling-shot hidden in it somewhere and the first douchebag that affects my boat in any way with a jetski will get a sinker or stainless steel ball bearing through their hull or leg, either or I don't really care. I really don't see the point of them on flat water hey, I've ridden them on flat water many times up at Myall Lakes and unless I'm right out in the middle where the water is over 2m deep (only just!!!) and I'm trying my best to throw my mates off the back then I find them boring as! They would make a nice little solo fishing vessel but frankly the $15k+ they can cost would go towards and awesome 2nd hand fishing boat!! I really really really really can not relay how much I hate them!
