    My Journey

Just to show everyone my journey....They say pictures are worth a 1000 words...well count these up...lol now some of you might remember the old me.... This was the start of my journey when I was speaking at Parliment house to over 900 bikers, fighting for our rights.... Now my life has changed and here are the pics as it happened....
  5. Well it started off with waking up with a snowed in town and all roads closed. That wasn't going to stop me getting to the social... I have a 4x4 drive, and I know all the back roads seeing as I travel around so much. The snow varied in places up to 40cm deep. I made it to Mt Victoria but was stopped by Police.. After about 30min, I went and spoke to the copper and explained I was a professional driver and on the way to a fishing social...... Guess what.. he let me through and wished me good luck in getting there and held alll other traffic.... Once we got through Katoomba it was all good from there on the way down the mountain and we were on our way. Got to Parsley Bay and we were off to tie up at the Mother ship..Unloaded , settled in rigged up and kissed the missus.... Swordie and myself were off to catch some hairtail..I have been coming to every hairtail since they began and I have never caught anything.. We didnt have our lines in long before the bites started..Swordie dropped a couple, Then I had my first hit........Dropped again...but now I am learning and having fun with all the other raiders on the water...Just after dark I was ON... and this one was not getting away..NICE fish is the call from Stewie and I have to agree.....As far as I was concerned, I was the happiest fisho there and it didnt matter if I didnt fish for the rest of the weekend..Great fish and a new PB.. After winning the biggest hairtail, Lisa and I chose to give back the prize money.. So $100 I gave to young Anthony (4myson) young bloke who had to leave during the night due to illness, for his great effort of 2 hairtail...$100 we did a lucky door prize won by Sydneyfisher12....Ruthy won $50 for the oddest catch of an eel...And $250 we will put towards getting some fishraider boat stickers made up... Once again great meeting fishraiders and is always a great time hairtailing...A big thankyou to Swordie and Donna, Harold and Mimi. Alsotothe youngs guys that taught me a few tricks for squid even though I didnt catch any.. Look forward to next year and WE WILL BE ON THE MOTHER SHIP AGAIN.....
  6. Well done guys will definatley come with you of follow you guys out one day
  7. What ever you use, if they want to steal it they will.. However the harder you make it the better.. A cheap clamp and one that is not as noticeable is a chain that goes through the rim and around the tyre , over the springs or chassis and heavy duty padlock.. Add this with a coupling lock or padlock on the coupling or if possible simply take a wheel of as well... SHADOWS WELDING AND TRAILER REPAIRS 0413196591

  14. just to make one thing very clear...... It doesnt matter what stud patteren youhave the bearing can be either ford or holden.. you need to measure or have someone look at them to be sure... there are serial numbers on the bearings if they are still readable. Fab1 has given you the correct measurments to have a look at
  15. I will be in Sydney wedensday and thursday, Feel freeto ring for a free quote, advice or anything at all Sean (Shadow) 0413196591
  16. mate I am from SHadow trailer repairs and could have a look for you if you like I will be in sydney untill thursday arvo.. on the other hand you can meassure the axle if you cant read the numbers on the bearings.. most likelythey will either be standard ford or holden, but there is ony a couple of millimeters diffrence between the 2
  17. I will also add... you have to pack the bearing inside and out.. NOT just smear grease around the bearing and cup
  18. Wheel Bearings don't have to be a nightmare. But they can very quickly turn into one... Wheel Bearings Wheel bearings are a crucial part of your trailer maintenance. They should be checked and regreased at least twice a year. To check your wheel bearings, jack up the trailer and spin the wheels, checking for noise, vibration and excessive play (side to side and top to bottom). Any of these symptoms suggest worn bearings and could cause you a disastrous day sitting on the side of the road instead of out on the sea. Removing the dust caps and looking and smelling the condition of the grease will also give you a good idea if the bearings have been contaminated with water or cooked due to lack of grease. Never use water soluble grease to repack the bearings. If the bearings are worn, they need to be replaced and is within the capacity of most home handypersons. Follow the link for easy steps to do your own " Wheel Bearing replacement " Or if you are still not sure.. I can do the job for you very easily at your own home Email: yarraonesg@gmail.com MOBILE: 0413196591
  19. These don't have to be a nightmare... Wheel Bearing replacement Loosen the wheel nuts and jack up the trailer so the wheel clears the ground. Chock the trailer for safety’s sake with axle stands, never put your full trust in your jack. Remove the wheel nuts and wheel, and use a soft-faced hammer to gently tap the dust cap off. Locate and remove the split pin from the castle nut. Remove the castle nut and washer, grab the hub and pull off the axle. Remove the seal and seal retaining washer. The bearing is made up of two parts – the cone with its tapered rollers and the cup which supports the cone. Before going any further with your work, clean the cones and slide them onto their respective positions on the axle. If the bearing slides on the axle sloppily and does not sit firmly, the axle could be worn and need replacing. Contact your trailer repairer if this is the case, and ask about options to change the axle. Remove the seal wear ring from the back of the hub with a screwdriver and clean out the inside of the hub with solvent and clean rags. To remove the cups from the hub, tap out from the opposite ends with a pin punch and hammer taking care not to damage the bore of the hub. Once the bearing cups have been removed, clean and check hub for damage. Fit the new cups with a brass or mild steel drift and hammer, never hit any bearing part with a hammer or hardened steel as the bearing being very hard, can crack and cause bodily harm when it shatters. Pack the new cones thoroughly with grease and place a good quantity of grease in the hub cavity. Fit the back end bearing, tap on the seal wear ring and before sliding the hub onto the axle, fit the seal retaining ring and seal to the axle. Slide hub firmly onto the axle and fit the front end bearing cone. Fit the washer and castle nut. Tighten the castle nut until a slight binding is felt. Back off until the hub runs free but without any free play. Fit new split pin through the castle nut and axle, smear a gob of grease around the inside of the dust cap and tap onto the hub. If you are unsure and don't think you can do this. I can do these for you very easily and at your own home . EMAIL: yarraonesg@gmail.com MOBILE: 0413196591
  20. no probs good luck with the weather

  22. bearing buddies are for people that dont want to do the regular mintance.... They do fall off once the hub starts to wear or if the bearing is over tight orloose for that matter.. if your rear sealis the right one nd not damaged and is put in correctly... you should not need a buddy.. However, you should. maintain your bearings regulary.. This includes checking and repacking them if needed even if you havent used your boat. if you use itoften you will find you will have less poblems with grease and bearings thean if you only use it once every couple of months. This is because if salt water does get in the hub, and then is left to sitit will not onlyrust the bearing which will then breakdown and allow the grease to escape. Which will cause a complete hub failure. If it is used often and possibly shorter distances the grease and bearings keep lubricated and force water out.One way tohelp this process is to check the wheel often for play and retention bearing as needed...(very quick simple job) backto your question ,you can tighten bearing buddies with a cole chissel or a punch... from the inside of the buddieon the rimwhere it fits into the hub, give it a gentle tap with a hammer to creat a outward little bump/notch. do this at least in two opposite spots. I find 3 times is better.. then fit the buddie..it will be alot firmer toput on , but that is wat you want.
