  1. just would like to know what you all think having caught our fare share off bonito and slimmys over the last couple off months the tuckerbox is half full,we stash this bait for our yearly trip to crowdy head for big reds i thought if i salt some down it my last longer with the peckers first batch off bonito reduced by well over half in three days questions 1;is this bait any good 2;would the used salt be good in berly [i reclaim the salt and re use it ] 3;some bream cudes were dipped in bread crums first and then salted[for bream with good taste lol] cudes with there own berly was the plan [maybe a beer batter next time lol] 4 would rice work as well as salt ,mmmmmmmmmmmm rice with bonito smell i'm thinking big blue nose anyway what do you think gary
  2. hey lasty,mate you only get what you pay for we used cheap reels for a while they all craped out within 15 months now its shimano as they have a 5year warranty how much you spend is up to you from $80.00 to $800.00for a bream reel we go mid range say $120.00 to$250.00 for the reel they all catch fish gary

  4. hey slayer mate top effort for persistance the whole start at the bottom of the food chain worked well for you on a day that was starting a cold shutdown we hit the little spot i told you about at 2.45 pm and fished till 7.30 8.00 for not much the plan was for tailor then jew we had tailor hits but no hook ups no jew straight to sharks but thats cool as we had fun great to see you do well on a crap day gary
  5. hey raiders hit the harbor at 2.30pm picked up timtam yakkas at balmoral headed for the hump at the zoo had several hits on the liveys but only the tails were missing all the livebait rigs had 20lb wire leaders to the stingers the tailor left so out went the slimmy fillets on floating riggs with gang hooks 2 hits and both took every thing and about 2 feet of 80 lb leader grrrrrrrrrrrrr where were the jews next hit a we get a dirty eel so we headed home good fun neverthe less the tailor hit about 4.30 but were very timmid gary

  7. hey celp the flattys and flownder are my fav;s as well but when in rome will have to give the slimmys a go on the plate or i will never know jew gaffer i read and take note and have been trying to be there at just the right time sometimes it works mostly i'm there to late or leave to early lol but thats the game we choose to play what is it with fishing,is it the mateship, when a word need not be spoken but a glance and a nod is understood,or is it the hunter gathera thing,maybe a bit off both we will be going out mid week in the harbor not shore on the target fish as yet but having salted down a heap off bonito into bream baits i'm keen to give it a go[this being a first at salting] hope you do well at the hawks, gary

  9. hey flatty hunter,well i saw my mate[who won the weekend round off ettalong comp] he pissed himself laughing after he stoped[good 5 mins]he said he had never heard of it we chatted for a good half hour about fishing,would you beleave they won on points with leather jackets anyway just as i'm about to leave he said this TELL YOUR MATE IT MAY BE A SPOT OFF JONO POINT A DEEP HOLE so i get thinking jono point first place to go dark in the arvo deep hole off jono this is what happens when you have to much time to think fishy thoughts a deep hole of jono in the arvo on a run in tide sound like a jew spot to me hope this helps it could also be yarn but next time i'm up that way i will check it out gary

  11. never thought off eating them,to me they are snapper bait for crowdy head but hey bob you look like a tooth man as i am one my self so next time i will give it a go,do you bleed and gut and put on ice,fillet ,fry or grill[now i'm hungy ] scon;there between the heads spead all over the shop you need a sounder to find them but there all over the place the bulk were caught around the corner at quarranteen point over sand in about 12 to 16 meters you need a lot off berly we have also found them at old mans hat same thing heaps off good berly wish i did'nt freeze them all now bob thanks for the tip gary

    hey kel'we purchaced the navman650 track fish and the c map nt max we've only been as far as jb to the south and crowdy head to the north have never had a prob,and find it very detailed but as this is our first unit i have no way off comparing to anything hopethis helps gary
  13. hey raiders went out friday night for a bash at the flattys at a new spot the spit got there at 12.30am and found a good moring on the east side 5.5 hours later we had 2 flattys and a brecky bream heap off throw backs and a big run that is still going west with 50 meters off 6 lb fire wire atached that run was at 4.36 am for all the jew nuts at dawn went for a run around south head to the stinkpipe for zip thought give north head a wack spun up 2 slimmys between the heads in 30 meters deep they were sitting at the 10 to 15 meter mark and way spred out mate goes green [pussy]so we head to Q POINT and drop the pick[little did he know i was feeling a bit crap to] pick up 2 flownder and 1 small flatty 1 bream then the super yakkas show up being one who must catch what i can see out come the bait rods for the next hour we had one off best little sessions this year man i love the big yakkas and more so the slimmy mac's heaps off double hook ups and more lost than boated by 11.30 we called it a day gary
  14. you gave it a good shot and thats more important than sleep lol mate the super yakkas and slimmys were around Q point head straight to manly ferry thingy in 12 meters over sand about half way to the next point.slimmys are also spead between the heads. gary

  17. hey josh sounds to me like tailor the messing trebles we have had the same prob with 80lb leader to the stinger now we use 20lb wire leader to the stinger the only prob with this rig is it seems to turn the kings off in the harbor the tailor are to big for a liveyfor kings but where there is tailor there maybe jew i tend to go with the flow;eg.i will try to catch what ever is going yesterday went for flattys ended up fishing for slimmys and super yakkas as that was what was on offer at the time on the way home lost the tails to plastics from tailor tying for kings at fort deniston may have to put the stingers on them as well gary

  19. had the same prob yesterday,heres the answer how far can you through frozen berly i can through it in handfulls about 10 to 15 meters to the d#ck who was covered in my berly yesterday 2 times he worked it out the second time first time;sorry buddy i ca'nt through very good,best wash that stuff off your boat it smell like sh#t second time;sorry mate i am a really crap shot maybe you should stay a bit wider from us his reply;you did that on purpose,at which time i could no longer hold a staight face and we started pissing our selfs laughing he never came within coowee again gary
  20. hey spongy.we had the same prob this morning at watsons we ended picking up super yakkas at quarranteen point 300 yards past the point heading to manly 14 meters deep and a reel good berly we had some fun on the light gear there are slimmy macs mixed with then hope this helps gary
  21. hey slayer,after the grand prize,well who could blame you here's a tip just in case you get a se blow there's a little spot we have had some luck with recently after ww 2 they dumped a heap off cable and chain at this spot and it only shows as a lump on the sounder not that big realy just a lump every time we drop a pick there and berly in the last 3 weeks we havegot tailor and soapys in that order last week lost a good jew on a live tailor[tailor was 350 long easy]so the jew was at least a meter long, my fault !@######### it so this is why i need this jew caught even if by somone else lol this is'nt the best jew spot in the harbor and is only 14 meters deep but in a se blow is a good back up spot any way pm me for the gps marks or a general description off the area may even see you out there on sat morning gary
  22. hey raiders here's a pic my brother sent me of a mate who fishes with 15 kg braid out off a canoe aparantly it towed him for an hour around the harbor the island was ponapie in micronisha near gwarm[half way between png and japan may have to head that way next year[bro owns the pub on the us base there] gary
