  1. Thats a pretty good one
  2. Nice work, 12 kings is a great effort. Maybe theres some garfish moving into the harbour and thats why they're hitting the jig and not the yakka?? Josh
  3. Well you got a black kingfish, they do venture down here in the warmer months and are quite present when the water is at its warmest between march-may. Hopefully next time you get a kingy. Josh
  4. well done, nice long one there. Hopefully ones that long but fatter start to turn soon Josh
  5. Thanks Stumpy, my mistake.
  6. man, what else did that guy think was gonna happen. Some people in this world.......
  7. Could try getting a different brand of lures if all else fails. I've never had rapala's getting trebles tangled, has anyone? Josh
  8. not sure on slimy spots but i've seen that video as well and shack bay would be as productive as most squid spots around the harbour, probably a bit harder to fish if theres a big swell though, i have found that every now and then the squid will hang around those more turbulant areas. Josh
  9. Nice work, good little variety of fish there, flatties can be really difficult without a net, bad luck on that one. Josh
  10. Well done mate, great looking flattie, did you get a weight for it? I'm still yet to land one over 60cm Josh
  11. Hi mate, here's a few pics of ours. Triumph 170CC. Cheers Josh
  12. Hi Gary, Location wise i can't really help you, but you want to look around areas where there are reefs, points and other forms of structure+bait. Rigs then try a fairly large ball or bean sinker, onto a swivel and 40-60lb trace with one or two 5/0-8/0 sized hooks. I find the squid guts to be an excellent kingy bait, although it is a bit fragile and soft, it normally does the trick. Good Luck Josh
  13. Nice bit of bait there for next time. I find that quite often you'll pick up tailor when trying for yakkas/slimies. Gonna try eating any of the occy? Any1 know what they are like compared to squid? Josh
  14. I have no idea if this would work or how it would be done, but to stop my referee whistle pea drying out and cracking i leave it in boiled water for a few min then freeze. Don't think this would work somehow....anyone willing to try on a rod?? Josh
  15. Mate thats an absolute cracker of a king, land based especially but on 10lb line is very goood. Josh
  16. Seaforth Bluff is always a good place to try if you can get a bouy there, also the stretch from there to pickering point is worth a shot. Josh
  17. mmm...chomped yakka. Thats an amazing shot of the dolphin jumping out the water, nicely done. Josh
  18. Great looking spots, I take it you've been to them all frangkie? I've been to the outer reef very close to there out off Dunk Island and that was an amazing fishing experience. Josh
  19. Hey Mikey, I also have a raider, i nearly opted for the Saros but ended up going for a Daiwa Exceller Plus which has turned out to be a great reel for it. I reckon the 2500 would be a better option as it would be well balanced weight wise and having that extra line capacity could come in handy when using it for salmon, kings etc as the raider is capable of handling them. Good luck Josh
  20. That is an awesome transformation, it looks really good. Amazing the new things you can convert old stuff into. Well done. Josh
  21. well done mate, brave a storm and grab a few kings-sounds like a good combo Josh
  22. it probably is just a bream, but a different type, like it is a slightly different shape as a pikey or boney bream are slightly different shaped to yellowfin or silver bream most of us are used to. Not sure what this one is though, i've found that black bream i've caught in Sydney are a bit different in shape to the ones i got in Port Douglas so maybe that could be still a yellowfin...? Josh
