  1. unreal mariner, would love a guided tour. Some amazing specs there, especially this one can operate for more than 20 years without refuelling would love a car that could do that.
  2. After reading the info in the link posted by hottyscotty I can't see a problemm with it.
  3. Fair go mate, I'm not that keen on taking old bait etc. home with me to put in my household bin to stink the whole street out, but if there's bins where I fish, like there is at the boat ramps I use (not at the port break walls) I most certainly use them. Are you trying to tell us you take your old bait & bait bags etc. home and put it in your own household bin? I think bins anywhere people fish is a great idea!
  4. Sorry for the late report, been offline for a while. Went camping down at Crookhaven Heads for the easter weekend, done a bit of fishing but not real good results. Went over the beach behind the caravan park we were camping in one night, out the 4 of us fishing (wih frozen beach worms and pillies) all that was caught was a small stingray by me . Then to cap off such a great session, on the way back to camp, when we got back to the gate in the fence between the park and the track to the beach that was ment to be locked a 9pm (we were there just before 8pm) it was locked . We were stuck there untill the girls went and got someone to open it and let us back in, it was only about 15min but that's not the point, we were not impressed. Went out in the boat in the river there (lower shoalhaven, near Greenwell Point) looking for a few flatties. We got a HEAP of little bream, squire and tarwhine, my mate got a just legal jew on a dead baitshop prawn, and I got a flounder, not sure if he was legal as I dropped him overboard while trying to measure him Good to get out but a feed of flatties would have been nice. We were ment to come home on the tuesday but woke up to torrential rain on monday morning and decided to bail. We've got 2 kids, 1 yr old boy and 3 1/2 yr old girl, the little fella didn't like the idea of staying in the tent and off the wet ground and the and I were ready to come home anyway. We were camping with the inlaws so we left our tent and some other things there for them to bring home wet in the boat, what a way to end it. Got up tuesday morning to a beautiful day so the tent etc. dried easily enough when it got back. All in all it was a good weekend, the easter bunny came, we had plenty of just a shame about the poor fishing results and rain. Thanks for reading.
  5. Mate I've fished down there a bit. For fishing in may your best chance would be blackfish along the weed bed along the straight infront of the RSL if you can get weed. Good luck.
  6. So as the title says I've been offline for around 6 weeks, just got back on and clicked the view new posts link and there's a whopping 43 pages to read. Looks like I'm gonna be up late tonight.
  7. No idea about the spots, but, "if in doubt, throw it out" 1 feed of fish isn't worth getting sick over.
  8. The lake is very quiet down here mate. There are a few bream and whitting (apparantley) if you can get live prawns or squirt worms, but basicly no flatties. I wouldn't be coming down here with high expectations of the lake at the momment, don't know what's going on on the beaches as I don't really fish off the beach. If you're not in a rush to come down, or can come again in a few months, there's always blackies here during winter. Good luck.
  9. I just got a feed of crabs and a bream without even leaving the house. My olds just got home from the Hawkesbury and dropped me off a bream and 7 blue swimmers, 5 already cooked and 2 raw that were only caught this morning before they left. MMMM beautiful, BBQ bream and fresh crab for lunch, and to think I was ready to make sangas.
  10. Fair dinkumb mate, they are some of the best baby photos I've ever seen. But I reckon your wife should be taking the credit for the catch, all we have to do is put the berley out. 4 boys 'ey, you must have a good berley receipe. Being serious mate, congratulations. P.S. A few weeks after my daughter was born I told my mrs "it wasn't as bad as I was expecting", the whole labour thing that is, (I was expecting all the crazy yelling and sreaming you see on the telly) and it didn't go down too well. My daughter is 3 now and she still gives me grief about it.
  11. Thanks heaps guys. Thats why I like this site
  12. Thanks Pel , I'm the member in question and the post you are thinking of is spot on. It was about running wires through the tubes for lights, can't find it but . I was trying to find the pictures of how other guys mounted them to the bimini more so than how they were wired up, but thanks mate, atleast there's someone who remembers it and I'm not losing the plot Also thanks to Jewgaffer for the great ideas but really just want to mount a light quick, cheap and easy. The rocket launcher sounds great but the boat in question is my old mans (I don't have my own yet, we gotta buy a house 1st, ) and I'm still working on him for a rocket launcher. Thanks again for your help guys
  13. Not sure if I believe this fully. The 1st pic looks OK, but the 2nd looks doctored (spelling?). How does a Barra, especially 1 that size just sit on the pram like that?
  14. Hi mate, a suggestion for you. My old man put the seats in his boat on telescopic poles, basicly like an office chair. He bought the seats and pole thingy bobs seperate and made up a swivel base to attatch them. We had the same issue with the high cabin. You just put the seats up to drive then lower them when you want to turn and fish. Hope this helps.
  15. Good shots mate. Not a cheap holiday that. I read in the paper today an American couple paid $200,000 for the 90 day voyage. Hard life 'ey!
  16. This is very true. I'd love to give it a go one day but wouldn't be game (pun intended) to take it on without someone who has been there, done that, plenty of times before. To all those giving it a go, good luck!
  17. Thats fact Mariner. I used to be a car mechanic and remember learning that at tech. I don't think sitting on the shelf unopened counts toward the 6 months (who knows how long it's been in that container in transport to the shop, sitting on the shelf etc), but yeah once you put it in a motor you've basicly got 6 months untill it's not doing it's job properly anymore. That's why the service schedules in cars say 10,000K or 6 months, (what ever comes first) untill you're due for your next service. Some newer cars say 15,000K or 6 months but I personally reckon 15K is too long to leave it every time. Now and then you might go a few K's over or maybe a bit longer than 6 months for what ever reason and it's not critical, but I wouldn't get in the habbit, especially if you have a nice new car you intend on keeping for a long time. If it operates under what the manufacturers call "severe operating conditions" thats basicly using the car to tow all the time or always in very dusty environment etc. you should service it more regular, like 5,000 K's or 3 months. You don't need to use expensive oil, I don't, as long as you change it regularly and use GOOD OIL FILTERS. Hope this helps mate.
  18. THe best way would be just to put it in the paper as is, make sure you mension in the ad about the front end damage. Is it a 4 cyl or a V6? I got to disagree with Stewy here (sorry mate) but 170K's actually below average K's. Average is 20K's yr, so at 10yr old average would be 200K's, and 10 yr old isn't that old if it's been looked after, especially with below average K's. With the all that in mind, if it's in good nick apart from the stack you had, you might be lucky and find a panel beater or someone good with cars looking for a cheap car he can fix up. Have a look at the red book online, not sure of the web adress, just google it, that will tell you exactly what it was worth in good condition and you can go from there taking into account the damage from the accident. I don't think there's any issues with the RTA selling it as it is. Good luck.
  19. The bar there isn't too bad but not the easiest in OZ, if you've never crossed a bar I would suggest this not be your 1st go at it, unless with someone expierenced obviously.
  20. Certainley does make sence. I never new there was such a thing as sinking braid, I thought it all floated. The sinking stuff sounds good for fishing the bottom as Slinky has said.
  21. I'm certainly no expert but I'm led to believe you can cast further without the levelwind. The levelwind one's aren't really designed for casting. I've got a charter special and was told by the bloke at the baitshop when I bought it that I would be able to flick it a bit just to get my rig away from the boat a little bit but I wouldn't be able to cast lures around or anything like that.
  22. Just wondering what are the advantages and disadvantages of both, (except the 2 piece is more compact to transport) I'm talking about when you're using them. I have a preference for 1 piece and all my rods except my blackfish rod are 1 piece. I've heard stories of rods coming apart while fighting a fish or when casting out. So, what are everyones thoughts, what do you prefer and why?
  23. Yeah me too. As I said in the original post, I couldn't convince her to go to ET's resort in the NT which I liked the sound of, but even I wouldn't be keen for bloody Bobbin Head There's been some reel good suggestions here which I'm greatful for and I'm looking into, but that one must have been a joke, I hope so anyway.
  24. JESUS CHRIST, how do you even know/remember what's in there, I LIKE IT. I've got some catching up to do, shame there's no overtime at the moment. Bloody global downturn/meltdown/recession/economic crisis or what ever it is, our customers need to start buying some steel again so I can get some O/T.
  25. So this "heat wave" didn't really happen, not at my place anyway. Don't think it even got over 30 degrees here, probably in the west but we had a nice breeze all day, was hotter y'day (saturday).
