  1. I also hav an elite 4 and I can tell u they are awesome for estuary but it is true deep water they cannot read structure properly and fail to read fish. On my sounder once I hit 15-20 m the bottom is just flat very very flat but from 0 -13 meters I can see every piece of rock/ weed like its 3d Anything over 20 m is no good for the dsi. Most important thing is what is your budget? Seeing how your fishing deep water you would need a decent sounder with a frequency of 83mhz
  2. Revo 11 is too short in my opinion. Nbhood had a mate who owned one and sold it for an adventure due to the fact he wanted to go offshore as well. Adventure is definitely your best bet but if you have owned a kayak before I wouldn't recommend starting with an adventure or going offshore atleast until you know what your doing and you feel comfortable. Adventure is very long and thin much more stable offshore but inside it can be pretty hard to balance when you first start using it. Also make sure you have the correct safety gear and have read the rules for kayakers. Another very important thing to do before you even consider going off sure is to make sure you practice a deep water re-entry into the kayak. It can be quite hard in an adventure. If you do manage to flick your yak or fall over board you will need to beable to get back into the yak. I would recommend starting with a revo or outback and fishing the estuaries and bays for a few months and if you think your ready then sell it and go for an adventure. Hobie kayak do hold their prices pretty well and it won't be a huge loss selling and buying another one. Good luck on your hunt
  3. I've got a 14 it's not too bad to load up if your on a flat area and not parked slanted on a hill. It's a beast it can even be hard to pull along bumpy/ sandy/ sandy ramps etc But it's a extremely comfortable to fish out off. Some guys get trailers for em but if you can find a way to overcome the weight problem you won't regret getting one. I place a large piece of clothe on my boot lift the nose onto the boot uni lip the trolley and lift and push from the back. make sure your not on a slant otherwise the yak may slide off and you will hav no chance of holding it back. Happened to me and I was lucky my brother was nearby and saw it falling. Alan
  4. I have not used isome. But have seen then at the tackle shops. When the guy first told me they are actually a bait not a lure I didn't believe him until I just saw your post and read up on it. The lure was designed to replace bait and specifically for whiting so I don't see why they wouldn't work. They smell like blueberry too. Might have to get myself a pack. Also live soldier crab slightly crushed to get some smell in the water are also an awesome bait for whiting and are a lot more common / easy to get than worm and nippers. It can be hard to cast a crushed crab out on a 10 foot rod without flicking it off. But give it a go. Alan
  5. It's the jewel of the south ( port hacking.) Spewing I couldn't make it gav work sucks I'll be down there on Monday though with Paul n thanh u coming?
  6. Hey Tom first round is in February and is at Brisbane waters. R u sure u check the right tournament it's definitely not later in the year
  7. Hey buddy just got back from a jb trip with some other raiders. Unfortunately for us the weather was terrible which didn't allow us to fish in the bay with our yaks so we went to shoal haven river landing a fair few flatties consistenly . if weather doesn't work out for you give it a go .
  8. Go down and have a look yourself it's been opened. They re done part of the wharf but changed all the nets. In the process the destroyed all the weed growing so now no shelter for the fish to hide. It's just dead I think it will need another 6 months atleast before fish start c ing back in. Alan
  9. I think it's not only the bay it seems the pelagics are very late this year. Nothing in the harbour bay or hacking. I think over the next 2 weeks they should start showing up.( I've been saying this for the past month now haha)

  11. Nice work Any surface activity in the bay or were the salmon and Bonnie's down deep? Alan
  12. Hi raiders Heading down to jervis bay ( callala bay for a few days over Christmas with a few raiders. Don't a fair bit of research and have found squid flathead and whiting spots. I can't seem to find any king spots inside the bay or within close pedaling/ paddling distance no more than 4 -5 kms Is the any spots close to callala bay or beach where I can hook onto a few kings? Cheers Alan
  13. Sorry buddy just an update I just read up and the authorities have lifted the warning on the 11th They are safe to eat
  14. Hey mate Dont know if you are aware of the algal boom in botany bay. It was all over the news and was even posted on fishraider. Shellfish and crustaceans in the bay are currently infected including crabs. The algae is toxic to humans and can cause you a lot of harm. I don't know if it has passed or not but personally wouldn't risk it. http://www.foodauthority.nsw.gov.au/news/media-releases/mr-07-Dec-12-botany-bay-algal-bloom-warning/#.UNC0QvFhiSM This was posted by authorities on the 7th which is about a week ago it's been almost 4 weeks since the algal bloom has occurred. I would advise disposing the crabs for your own safety. As for flatties we have been getting plenty I was on the water tonight and managed 3 just before I left at woolooware bay which was the back up plan.and the past week or 2 have been getting them almost every session as a by catch whilst chasing Jews. Alan
  15. Solid fish Is this in Sydney? Alan
  16. Hey buddy I have found port hacking to be a very hard system to fish soft plastics with compared to harbour parra river and George's. But if your local to gunnamatta hav a walk over to darook park on a low tide and walk out to the drop off. Using ur 2 inch shrimp and 3 inch minnows on a 1/12 or 1/16 jigheads should land u a few flathead whiting and bream. Best of luck

  18. THey say not to eat Nything from salt Pan crEek and chipping norton but personally I don't eat anything after como bridge
  19. Thanks mate will be heaps helpful. I'm currently using chariot whether watch which only says current reading as a number. So it doesn't show previous reading , not even a time on the last update. Alan
  20. They are heavy yaks but not that heavy. Adding a winch n all will just add more trouble washing and money.
  21. Tom you won't be sacrificing any room t all. Don't forget at the back of your yak is a hatch with a box inside leave the anchor with rope wrapped around a pool noodle inside here's and the anchor trolley system is unnoticeable Im heading out tonight with Paul again and will try remember to get a few extra photos . Hopefully there will also be a report on Paul's first Jewwy hehe. I'm 172cm short and fat and still able to drag the pa out of the sand no problem. If you are really really small and skinny to the bone you will have problems moving the pa around. If there are ways for you to get around the weight issue trust me there is no more comfortable yak to fish from. Alan
  22. Just don't forget hobie USA have increased there prices so they are now 3499 and the 14 for 3599 Rigged and ready will cost you around 4 k depending on how much you want to get on it. You king find a second hand one between 2.2k and 3 k they tend to keep there price pretty well Alan
  23. I think I will get the rack and roll system as well as its really hard to do the current method hen he road is slanted in other words boat ramp
