  1. Rewarding session, a bit of a feed, and a rat on light gear to get the blood pumping, loving it.
  2. Sweet results for shitty conditions, good stuff.
  3. Yep, coming up with the goods again yowie. Keep em coming.
  4. Great work there, if there's one place I Like fishing, it's in Queensland, awesome catching new species.
  5. Good spotting ambrose You will need cleats and a life jacket. Basic cleats cost under $20, and you can bolt them onto an old pair of runners, once you have all the holes lined up and drilled, use some Lock tight so the bolt dosnt loses until they rust on, and an inflatable life jacket (much better because they stay out of the way until required) $70 these are just ball park figures, you could find them cheaper. This gear will be an investment, because you can use it to target any species off the rocks, black drummer, luderick, kingfish, Bonito, salmon etc etc Scout out your locations, and keep an eye on the swell forecast on a site like seabreeze.
  6. Fun! Alvey recommendations! Before I go on I will say alveys take getting used to, but once you've got it sorted you will love it. Starting with a drag reel is a good idea, the 6000 bcv or 600 bcxl is a good place to start, about $140 there, and the premium alvey rods are fantastic for the money, alvey rod BJA 4-6kg $90 and some platypus lo stretch in 6kg $15, delivery $20... $265 total for some thing that will last for ages. Just to add, most of the steel backed ones are direct wind with no drag, nothing wrong with the graphite back. Just as tough and lighter
  7. Get an alvey reel. If there's no crunching and grinding I wouldn't worry about it.
  8. Just an opinion, I don't think it be a good idea to add grip, especially over the rod itself if I'm understanding you correctly. That will change the whole action of the rod and could create a weak spot where you're grabbing it from.
  9. Yeah they'll take prawn, nippers and blades a fair bit of the time, but I totally get you, first time iv heard of one hitting a jerk shad that I can remember
  10. You gave it a red hot go even though it was looking shite. Bit of a feed sorted.
  11. Alot of skill and spare time Instresring art.
  12. Dude, catching squid is piss easy... No uni degree required, I promise. My tip to you is: Buy some qaulity squid jigs, and have a few different colours on hand. Work an area for a bit, no response, change colour. Tying knots shouldn't be a chore when fishing.
  13. Not as convenient as rubber Stoppers, but on small guage lines I use the wedge type...
  14. That's ok mate, some of us wish we had a bigger rod haha Good to see you're happy with your combo, although I will give an opinion. It's all well and good when the fish are on the bite and they're mauling anything, but when they're not as hungry you want to fish as light as possible, and fishing lighter increases hook ups...
  15. I'm putting my money on sambo if I had to pick one... But guess what? We'll never know
  16. I would've kept the whole lot for bait and bought the missus some doritos on the way home hahaha
  17. The Oz salmon population is about to decrease rapidly HAHAHA
  18. You know you want the exo but want some one to convince you to buy the smoke because it's cheaper. Just buy the exo or you will never be truly satisfied and always want it.
  19. There's whiting and flathead in the shallow parts... Kings, salmon, Bonito and trivially around the front section, bream lurking around amongst the pairs... Squid also
  20. Royce As of next week your name is being changed by admin to luderick magnet.
  21. +1 Definitely wouldn't consume, but tell that to some of the guys right up the river who actually do keep the fish. Good fun those trevs on light gear, lots of grunt. Well done
  22. Excellent haul of fish, makes my damn mouth water ?
