you can get flattys off the whalf at the boat ramp
prob a better idea to walk up around the dog park and fish off the sand flats there
or walk to the point of the dog park closest to the arms and fish the drop offs
soapies can be caught off the point

make sure u take lots of money to buy tackle over there
its soo cheap
-
I prefer to keep it light
nothing over 8lb takes longer to get the fish in but it's a hell of alot more fun

nice work on the trevs

Mate pittwater can be a fishos nightmare I would be kidding myself if I said I go home with fish every trip
key is fresh bait the only bait I ever buy is a block of pillies and I use them to catch bait or if there around feed the kings
chasing the birds isn't always the best method I watched 5 boats chasing around a flock of birds on the weekend all the birds wanted to do was have a rest but the boats would follow themthrn spook them so they would fly away and the boats would follow
we were out on Saturday and didn't have alot of luck as u said lots of bait on the sounder and we had quite a few boil ups which we think were tailor and kings but they would vanish by the time we arrived
we ended up hitting up the valliant for donuts then went out to the flatty grounds which wasn't the best idea as I was way too hang over
ended up chasing salmon off lion island for a few hrs
The best thing to do is have the best freshiest bait you can get and if you don't catch ne fish its coz the fish are off the bite that day come back again with the fresh bait and sooner or later there gonna be on the chew and u will clean up
we will have to catch up for a fish some time

The saragossa would be a good option, have a look at some daiwa reels as well, the Catalina 4500 or 6500, great reels and can be gotten considerably cheaper from the states.
Josh
cheers for the advice
i had a look at some US stores and i can save about $200 by importing a Catalina
but it still ends up being more then i wanted to spend
i think im going to go with the saragossa
how much 80lb braid would fit on a Saragossa 14000??
and does any one no if i purchase the reel from the states is the warranty valid here ?
cheers
-
yeh ive had a look around and can get the Saragossa 14000 for only $100 more then the Spheros
but once i get around to upgrading the drag and the handle on the spheros im sure its going to be a simular price to the saragossa
think im just gonna save my pennys and go with the saragossa and just spool it up with 80lb braid
how much line did you fit onto the reel
-
looking at the Shimano Spheros 18000FB with upgraded drag and handle
what ya think
-
i have just bought the above rod which i plan on using for live baiting and jigging
rod is rated for PE5 max so i need a suitable reel
budget is around $300-400 with the strong aussie dolla importing a reel is a big option
any tips of a suitable reel
Cheers

its not all about the size of the anchor
you need to have a good length of chain
i bet if you have 5meters of chain attached to your current anchor it will hold
-
im not sure but that looks like my boat in the first picture
good times
we hit them up again yesturday gort some real nice ones
great fun on 8lb line

brother has caught both kings and jews on a peice of chicken fillet

on Saturday its around .6 meters

manly would be the closest its about 8-9km each way from manly
-
Small metal slices are the best for feeding samon
chances are they are feeding on tiny planktin and white bait a tiny metal mimics these
-
sunday isnt looking too good
Saturday is the better looking of the 2
check Seabreeze for upto date weather forecasts the link is at the top of the page
