  1. I think from memory that the squid was still in the mouth attached to the hook when I got them in - but after getting the daily double I packed up and went home and through the used bait overboard!
  2. Hi there - the bust ups weren't that big that I saw. They were down towards the bridge - but that was last week so the schools have probably moved around. Just look for the bids working the area and you will find the fish. No busts up for these Kings though - I waited with the fresh squid baits set at about 12 metres depth at my new secret spot!
  3. I went out Friday morning on Sydney Harbour to both chase the schools of Salmon that were meant to be around plus put a few more hours on the new Suzuki 50 4 stroke purchased at the Sydney Boat show. First stop was a trip to wreck off Quarantine Point to get some livies but could only manage small trevally - all thrown back in. Headed off to try my luck on squid and managed a PB Squid for Sydney Harbour. Drovd then up towards the bridge from the heads and located some schools of surface feeding fish, but with the wind up it was nigh impossible to cast to any of them. So off for a morning coffee at Chowder Bay before heading to try my luck on kings with the Squid. After driving to a spot I know I put down the Squid head on one rod and a large strip on the other and then waited. And waited. I threw some plastics. Slow jigged. And waited. Just I was about to pack up and head back to Manly the 10000 Saragosa went off with the rod bent over and the tip in the water. I reach down to pick it up and am struggling to hold it when the 8000 Baitrunner goes off on the other side of the boat. I manage to reach over, rod in one hand and turn the handle to click it into gear. It’s now hooked up solid. Back to fish no 1 - I manage to eventually get it to the boat and gaff it, lay the fish and rod down behind me , then pick up the other rod and bring in fish no2 which I also landed. Result... 1 PB Squid turned into 2 * PB 90cm kings! Happy with that, I drove back to Manly ramp one happy fisherman! The Rev
  4. Thanks for the feedback. I wash down post every trip - but perhaps need to do a bit more. What do you use for water blasting?
  5. I p[osted yesterday about Tohatsu motors. As I think about making a purchase (I am leaning towards a Suzuki for a few reasons), i was giving the boat a clean and noticed this. Is this something to be concerned about RE Surface corrosion / pitting? Any thoughts from those with knowledge would be helpful 🙂
  6. Hi There, A couple of months ago I posted about 40-50ph 4 strokes and got some good feedback. One thing I picked up was that the Sydney Boat show always has great prices - so today I went to look. I originally was looking at Suzuki vs Yamaha Vs Honda. After looking at all of these and getting prices I walked past the Tohatsu stand and thought - Why not have a look. What I discovered was that the Tohatsu was cheaper, lighter and all Japanese build and assembly. I was wondering if people had much experience with this brand and how they found them Reliability and Performance? Any comments would be helpful. I have till Monday lunch to make a decision on what brand to buy if I get one! Still working out if I can afford it. the Rev (Bruce)
  7. Thanks - yes I had heard that about Etecs elsewhere.
  8. Thanks for the feedback and offer. As Shellharbour is about 2 hours later south of me I’ll have a look up here on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. Cheers The Rev I had heard that but I’m also keen on the 4 stroke for fuel efficiency and low noise 😃
  9. Thanks Dunc333 - I will also check out the Mercury option. Are they USA made or Chinese and are they typically reliable?
  10. Hi there - I have had the boat about 3 years and love it. I can launch and retrieve single handed from Little Manly in reasonable weather. IT goes really well in the harbour and on calm days feel totally fine taking it offshore.
  11. Ps - the boat it will go is a 420 Quintrex Renegade
  12. Hi everyone I am looking at up grading from a Suzuki 40hp / stroke tiller steer to a 4stroke. I’ve just had a double iguanal hernia operation done and decided the manual lifting up and down of the 2 stroke needs to end.. I’m keen to get a 4 stroke that has hydraulic lift for the motor. Any thoughts on what brands are best? Reliability is a key thing for me. The Rev
  13. Hi Craig - here is the link to the web page wit the location. http://new.mhl.nsw.gov.au/data/realtime/wave/docs/Sydney.pdf As the GPS marks are only to 2 decimal places - when you get there head south east has been my memory of where it was located. Also - Dollies in my experience will often turn on the bite then after a while and particularly if there is a bit of boat traffic - turn off. I have found that the best time is first thing in the morning when the boat traffic is at a minimum. Cheers The Rev
  14. Thanks Jim - will give it a try next time out. Not sure though it will be this season as Wednesday’s trip was the last one one I can do for 2-3 weeks and I suspect the colder currents will have hit by then ☹️
  15. Awesome catch Pickles - great to see you got amongst them The Rev
  16. The late run of dollies continues off SYDNEY. I also went to the Sydney Fad and Wave Rider buoy on Wednesday catching 12 and keeping 7 between us. Water was up over 23c when we left the WRB and nice and blue. Fish kept were 60-67cm in size. We caught most of them on small live yellowtail though did also get some on pilchard chunks and soft plastic lures. cheers The Rev
  17. Some nice fish there - well done. . What depth of water were you fishing? cheers The Rev
