  1. Thanks - Thanks for the feedback - one question - you have a 50hp - Do you need the 50hp or can you get away with a 40hp or 30hp?
  2. I'm thinking of upgrading my old 3.7m tinny for something larger. I fish out of Manly in the harbour and want something a bit bigger for round the heads etc and in the harbour - mainly with just one other friend. I weight 78kg and also want to be able launch solo.. I was thinking of a Quintrex 420 Renegade tiller steer - after a boat with deep v and high sides. Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated The Rev
  3. Hi there I'm up on holidays staying on the Central coast at Avoca. Avid fisherman and have own gear with me and will contribute to costs etc. If you need an extra hand on board for a fishing trip - let me know. Cheers Bruce (The Rev)
  4. I could be wrong ... but it definitely looks like a Red Mowong to me. They are typically caught by spearfisherman closer in to the rocks (which my son does). Decent eating. Good catch overall given the water conditions in closer. The Rev
  5. Perseverance pays off - well done!
  6. Well done Krispy... In side or outside the harbour?
  7. Thanks for the report fragmeister, I was out for 2 hours early around Clifton Gardens and then Rose Bay / Watsons Bay yesterday as well. There was some surface action off Clifton Gardens early with some nice arches on the fish finder but they disappeared when we came back a few minutes later. Caught one small Mac tuna (30cm) at Clifton Gardens and that was all for the morning. Trolled around Old Man's hat coming in and again saw some surface boils but no luck enticing anything. Tried for bream on a fillet of the MacTuna over at Quarantine Station on the top of the tide as we came in and caught one at 28cm. Was generally a quiet day out. Cheers The Rev
  8. Nice work - where in the harbour was all the action (if you don't mind me asking? [emoji4]
  9. Yeah Baby exactly - well done! What did it weigh / measure?
  10. Ps - all kings released to fight another day [emoji2]
  11. Great report - I was there at lunch time at Clifton Gardens in the feeding frenzy (small 3.7m tinny). We landed 4kings between 45cm and 63cm, 4 salmon and 3 tailor. Also lost a few. Was a great day out. Glad to hear you got amongst it Cheers The rev Ps - here is one of the Kings caught by my sons friend who came for the session on short notice. Was his first king ever hence the smile
  12. Hi Ojay I have 12ft deep V tinny with a 15hp on the back. I rarely go beyond Old Mans Hat inside the outer North Head and only then when conditions are ok (typically when you get a NE wind it is protected and I am going out from Little Manly). I was able to get out Wednesday as it was very low winds (4-6knots) and only 1 ft of swell. You would struggle with a 6hp and I know I wouldn't do it without the 15hp. Hope that helps The Rev
  13. thats what I'm hoping for... I've been reefed too many times in the past 2 years. It was my 50th birthday present!
  14. Great fish! I'm heading up this week and looking forward to the fishing up upper way cheers the rev
  15. PS - the picture has my fishing mate Tony holding my fish! he'll do anything to get caught on camera!
  16. Hi Fellow Raiders After a few trips out to the harbour for a variety of fish post Christmas, it was time to target some kings. With a short window of time Wednesday morning and very vcalm winds we headed out from Little Manly in the tinny to hunt some squid. Unfortunately no luck on the low tide :-( I only seem to be able to find them on high tides my end of the harbour. so with some fresh pills we headed out to North head. We burlied up with some chopped pilchard cubes and then sank 2 3/4 pills down the trail but out of the bait fish picking. Within 5 minutes we hooked up solid on my new kingy outfit (Shimano Talica12 loaded with 65lb braid and 80lb leader - I have lost that many good kings on my old gear that did;t have the stopping power.). After a short fight with the drag locked up - into the net came my first legal kin for a while - a 76cm model. Happy days on board! We stayed for another 45 minutes and caught another 4 kings - all undersized. They were from a 40cm puppy to about 62cm. All returned to live another day and grow bigger. I came home to a happy wife who loves fresh fish and we had sashimi that night - here is the half eaten plate. It disappeared before I could get a shot off on my camera. tight lines the Rev
  17. Grea report Fragmeister One question... Do you use the prawns peeled or unpeeled? And are these just the standard king prawns or school prawns from Coles? The Rev
  18. Hi Guys Great to see you out there today! Sounds like the down rigging with the squid wasn't productive ... maybe next time :-) Cheers The Rev
