ophet
Im happy to help out whereever i can I would be more than happy to make 50 or so sliding snell rigs on 60 lb trace for people to use.....These are the rigs both Kelvin and i use and are definately the best rig to use when fishing live or fresh squid. I can make them with swivels and they can be tied straight onto the main line or use a snap swivel. All land based anglers should know that Kings can be caught off the Wharf at Clifton Gardens, have caught them there myself and have seen them caught their last season. Live bait can also be caught there. So you dont need a boat to participate..... Sounds like an awesome idea Netic, I would be in line to grab a few off you. Happy to pay cost for them as well. Just as good, why don't you and Kelvin do a clinic on rigs and how to tie the knots during out lunch break .... BTW - Count me in, I will advise whether there are others joining me or whether I have space in my boat. Edited December 4, 2006 by 445F

Mondo Rock
I reckon I'll be up for this as well. I'll have to follow another Raider around or grab a 'mentor' since I've never fished the harbour from the new boat (can I bags Kelvin as my mentor? Is that allowed?), but it sounds like a lot of fun. And Netic - 50 SLIDING SNELL RIGS!!!! That's amazing. I don't need any as I can tie them myself, but it takes me about half an hour per rig so I'm suitably impressed with an offer of 50! Sounds like it could be a top day!!

Mate no need to fix me up for cost, i have plenty of hooks etc.....Everybody seems to be contributing to socials so i guess i should contribute something aswell. I'll make plenty up and drop them off to rob to distribute as i probably wont be seeing everyone on the day till later.....I'll be out catching my livies

namesay
I have spoken with Fisheries again and they may be interested in attending once the venue is decided Cheers Stewy Hey swordie, get that old 30 stroker out. WIll be nice to see those sabre rods in action again! Brings back good memories!!!! CHeers Kelvin By the way Robs, have you decided where the boundaries will be for the social? Are we allowed to fish ANYWHERE? like Long Reef, Peak, 12 mile and other off shore spots or is it just the harbour? Start and finish times?...I'll be launching from Roseville. Good ramp with lots of parking. Got to pay $7 but can wash down the boat etc. Cheers Kelvin

Added to the list mate, as your experienced at fishing for them landbased perhaps you would like to act as a mentor for the landbased newcomers if you don't find a ride. gone_wishin
Count me in, this will be my first social as I have not been able to make the dates of previous socials. Looking at the photos and comments from everyone they sound great. I will be in my boat, will let you know who deckie is later. Netic, could you post a diagram / instructions of your rig I would like to have a go at making them myself, you know the old addage - give a man a fish feed him once, teach a man to fish feed him for ever. Also, any chance of getting some fishraider stickers on the day?

manama
Hi Rob, Good on you for organising. I need to check a few things but am really keen to get to my first raider social. If I can make it I will been keen to lend a hand. I agree with Namesay, Roseville/Garigal National Park is an excellent location. Lots of trailer/car parking. Also great grounds for BBQ and socialising. I am keen to pick up some skills from the more exprienced fisho's Will get back to you shortly to confirm my attendance. Cheers Manama

Cheers Manama I agree That roseville is a beautiful place but it is not very central, many people will be launching from Parramatta river and they would have an extremely long drive to the social, places like CLifton gardens are very central to all ramps and all areas of fishing. I whole heartedly agree with netic on this. Clifton Gardens is tops and central, and the lb fishos can even score a Kingy there off the jetty. penguin Edited December 7, 2006 by penguin

robthefisherman
Ok guys it's a goer, Robbieltes will post up some further information and pics shortly. If you are able to lend a hand and donate or contribute anything towards the social please put your hand up. I'm happy to take care of the rolls and condiments again, Dave has very genorously covered the meat and our ever helpul flightmanager has taken care of the cooking.not tp mention Rohit again coming to the party with a great prize So if anyone can help out with drinks, eggs, bacon or anything else to make this a social to remember it would be greatly appreciated by all no matter how small the contribution it all helps
Robbielites
Right oh we have a venue, Clifton Gardens it is I had a look at Clifton Gardens from the land for the first time the other day and it is a top spot Plenty of room to beach boats in the mad dash to get your entry approved before you release it. And a great pier that goes on forever for the LB angelers. Huge open areas for the kids to to run amock. And a BBQ area straight out of a Tourism Australia catalogue. There is parking for 120 cars, but it is Sydney and it will cost you. But I think the price is reasonable considering the facilities and location. The address is, Morella Rd Mosman. It is well sign posted from Bradleys Head Rd. I will get a mark for the boaties that are not to familiar with the spot also. A top venue on an awesome harbour, See you all there... Robbie.
