bolan
If I could add my 2 cents worth, would it be wise to have a "Womens Bar" or something better headed. This would allow the girls to put up posts on when they have got time off ,and would like to go fishing with others who may be in the same position. ie. A housewife who needs to be home at 3.oopm to pick up kids, but could go out with "the girls" for a morning sesh. Mabe advertise Tupperware nights, lingerie nights baby things etc etc. Not trying to seperate the two genders in any way, but it's still a predominantly "mans domain" and its the women that most of us have to answer to! Give them a bit of space , and I reckon that we would have heaps of fun as a community. Men can socialise with anyone when armed with a fishing rod. Some wives don't fish, but if they knew some of the other girls on the site, would be more tempted to come out to a function with other Fishraiders. God knows how many times i've heard "You go darling, I don't really know anyone" Cheers (and ready for the predicted flack) Stumpy Edited August 1, 2007 by stumpy

jewgaffer
Gdayyyyyyyyy all Fishraiders. I have been recently getting some great ideas for how the site should run and the look and feel of the forums from a few members and we thank them for that. If anyone has any ideas which they would like to pass on ??? feel free to do so and we will look at all the ideas to make the forums better for everyone involved. Cheers Administration i reckon a membership recruitment drive by the members themselves, wouldn't be such a bad idea and telling others how they themselves have benefitted so much by being a member of fishraider jewgaffer fish on

yellow submarine
Firstly what an awesome site. I particapted in a fly swap and it was smooth and fly patterns of high quality. Very impressed. So here are some ideas: What about a some podcasts on popualr subjects. eg: Begginers guide to soft plastics. Surf fishing basics. Interviews with sponsors on new gear, Game fishing out wide. Maybe one a month. One last thing, I love reading about the "Fishing trip of a life time". It would be great if we had a template that we could use to type up our stories of our once a year pligramages. E.g. Location Type of fishing Guide information Gear used Fly, Game, 4-7kg spin gear Cost Accomodation Watering hole This way I can plan next years trip. mrsswordfisherman
Excellent input. We are already looking at podcasting and some other new and innovative stuff. Templates, how to documents etc are all great. If anyone wants to get started on producing some of these things please send to us. Perhaps we can all gather in a live chat at some point to explore some of these things more. I know amongst our community we have lots of specialist skills. Cheers mrsswordfisherman

Mate i have found by replying to your own post by clicking on the 'reply' button next to the quote 'button', it allows you to add as many pics as you like..one by one though. Do not get confused with the larger "add reply button" used to reply to a post, im not referring to that one. Am i making sense? Stewy, it would be good to have a photos section similar to that of seabreeze. I just got off there and was surprised by the amount and size of fish caught in most photos. It would be good for all newcomers, including existing members, to be able to have quick and easy access to a whole range of photos submitted by members. arpie
Hey Stewy I seriously reckon we are in need of a dedicated Blackfish Topic!! Seems half of our members are now taking it up with gusto!!! Cheerio Roberta Hey luring bream - I discovered that way of adding more photos when i was putting the Blackfish Social photos up! Neat, eh?? Edited August 2, 2007 by Roberta
arpie
Hi Stewy Being serious this time ..... (difficult tho it may be!) ... Any chance of automatically "Enable email notification of replies" when making a new posting? (I think it is optional when replying to someone else's already.) I keep forgetting to tick the little box! If you have posted it, you are usually interested in reading others' input. If you don't want to track it, you can dis-enable it! thereddragon
I personally think that dividing reports up into catagories would be a bad thing. I have seen other sites that work that way and I feel that it sends people off into groups, eventually that will bring down the community feel that this site has, on this site you have people that go for Marlin records interacting with casual Trout folk, both learning from each other and sharing opinion and knowledge, you cant beat that Cheers. Robbie I believe that one of the reasons for some raiders including myself, wanting to divided reports up into catagories is that I do not wish to filter through information that is not relevant to the type of fishing or the location, for example, why would I want to read posts about fishing off a boat in the hawksbury using livebait, when all I want to do is fish off the land using softplastics in the georges river. Given that some people wish to read information more inline with certain type of fishing and specific locations they currently partake in my recommendation is that this may be solved with an "enhancement" or possibly an existing function. I'll try to explain my thoughts by giving you an example, Most of my fishing is in the Gorges river landbased using soft plastics. It does'nt take long to identify other likeminded fishraiders that also fish in the Gorges river landbased using soft plastics. "If I had the ability to select these members and be able to track all their post including thier past and present, I would be directed to information that is in line with what I am interested in. This would have an indirect effect, giving me the ability to somewhat catergorise the information that I am seeking. Cheers I think I've to much. . Dalucius
Hi Thereddragon you know you can track a topic by clicking on a button. I personally like to browse all the entries and just read what looks interesting. I have read things and learnt something new about things that never interested me before. Keep up the good work raiders.
Boban
This idea is taken from an Aussie Woodwork forum, which is great by the way. They have a best of the best forum. What members do is nominate certain threads that they feel should be in the best of the best and the administrators/moderators judge whether that should be the case. All the good "how to" threads are there. I don't think reports should end up there as they generally have little relevance to future exploits. If someone is outlining techniques that would be relevant to a particular area or species, then certainly the fact that it is a report should not stop it from being part of the best of the best. They also have a footy tipping competition, which is enjoyed by many (AFL though). Overall, I think the site is pretty good as is. Oh and another thing I would change is the way that when a person quotes another post with pictures in it, the pictures are reproduced in the quote. Pain the bum to scroll through the pictures again to read the reply which might simply be "good on ya mate". Just my thoughts.
pelican
Hi When viewing new posts it would be good if the first posts that came up are topics that you have posted in or are subscribed to and have had activity since last login. Being able to click on a single point next to a persons name to see their recent posts would be handy as some posters are good to read and sometimes miss their input into threads. In regard to splitting up forums into land or boat , salt or fresh it might help if there was either a bullet to press in post optionswhen logging the report that says land or boat based and this could be included in title bar of topic so poeple who don't want to read fresh water can easily discriminate them. This would help your sponsors as they would then be able to get numbers of salt or fresh from you etc etc If the above doesn't make sense just PM me and I'll try and type it in Engrish!! That's it for now but glad you always looking at new things on a already great site. Pel

Geoff
I'd like to see an electronics forum. If raiders need some advice on the radios, GPS or anything electronic, they can go the forum. Cheers Deek I would like to second Deek's suggestion. Questions / comments on electrical / electronics tend to become lost in the Boating section. Stewy , I note your response but perhaps that was when the membership was much lower. Did a quick count & there are 14 posts on electrics in the boating section since early June. Not a lot but perhaps enough to give an electronics forum another run. Other than that , great site , keep up the good work Regards Geoff
Guest
You beauty! Great idea swordie Unfortunately it cannot be done as we are a website and not just a program. We did look at many options and so far we cannot find a program to do this because of the high mega pixel cameras that are on the market We will keep looking though Cheers Stewy

yellow submarine
I put a bit of thought behind it and put a quick draft together for a "Fishing trip of a life time" template I'm off to Yosemite in SanFran for a Fly trip so i might come up with some more ideas. I welcome any suggestions. For example maybe rigs and type of lures or bait, etc..
