Well, the Blackies were not on the chew as they were yesterday.

Three of us fished 2 hours for a total of 8. Not good at all.

But, the highlight of the afternoon was Peter wrestling with this mullet he picked up on a piece of cabbage!

Peter with his hungry Mullet.

I reckon we might try the blackie gear with some bread as the mullet were jumping all afternoon.

can you eat mullet?????

some fish better than no fish (or work) hey guys.

You can eat mullet when it's cooked right its not bad.

I prefer the catching part of it personally, 6lb = a lot of fun.

Good sized Mullet

Hi guys

Well done, again, Peter & Lindsay!! That is a beaut mullet - too good for bait!!

Mullet is lovely eating as long as you fillet it asap after capture & eat it viirtually the same day - they have the same black lining in the stomach as blackies, & being an oily fish, the flesh goes off quickly. Unless smoking it, I cook it the same as I do my blackies - just coat it in breadcrumbs & shallow fry. Yum!

It is beautiful smoked! And then it keeps for longer - nice both hot & cold.

Cheers

Mullet is the only fish one of my fishing friends will eat, he batters it and deep frys and it is very yum. He throws the flathead and reds back!

He throws the Flatties and Reds back, he's mad.

Hey Divey,

Great jewie bait there mate.

Butterfly or slab that sucker and get him out there off the beach.

Cheers

Mate, I'm pretty sure the fish will end up on a plate.

After Peter caught the mullet and we all had a good laugh, Peter said that it was his wifes favourite eating fish and that she'd be pretty pleased with his effort.

Regards,

Lindsay.

I used to get the occasional huge (1-2kg) Mullet as a kid out of Manly Lagoon while fishing for poddy mullet. My Dad was Croatian so anything I caught got ate! Mullet was good...anything "fish" Dad loved.
