James Clain
Just came back after catching 3 Bigeye Redfish at a secret spot somewhere near middle harbour. Has anyone caught them in Sydney? I have video proof and possibly some photos if I zoom in on the video.
Blackfish
I know them as Spotted Bigeye and yes in Sydney Harbour up at Clifton Gardens, 3 in one spot certainly of note. Good work on a not common recognised fish. 👍 Edited April 15, 2019 by Blackfish
xerotao
never heard of Bigeye redfish? Nannygai?
Volitan
I’m not sure what a bigeye redfish is. If you mean Red Bigeye then if you scroll down in this forum and look for a post by Lukelee then there is a photo of one caught under the Roseville Bridge.

Pickles
“Red big eyes” are also called “happy moments”- be very careful handing these as they are very painful if you get spiked by their dorsal fins. Filleted they are superb eating fish (don’t eat the skin though). The skin is very tough like a leatherjacket.
Mr Squidy
We get red bigeye's in the Hacking every now then so they certainly do come into the estuaries and harbours. I know Yowie has caught a few as well. Rich

Welster
I have only ever caught one last year I think in 140m of water. I don’t think there is a FR record for them though.
