Hi i was wondering can you catch blue swimmer crabs, yakkas, jewfish, flathead, bream and squid in winter  

regards burtos fishing

Some of those species are better in winter, some slow down a bit, but they don't just "go away" you just have to work harder to get a few.

Jewies are definitely around in winter,

Bream and flatties are about but harder to snag. I'd say their metabolism slows down when the water temp goes down.

Crabs-a lot less than summer, Yakkas-harder to find, jewies-in different places to summer but yep,flatties  May and June can be a bit tricky but towards spring dusky fishing is excellent, squid -awesome time of year for the big southern cals

Hi! We're still pulling up plenty of blue swimmers in Port Stephens. Caught one of the biggest ones I've seen this week, along with 4 other decent crabs in one crab pot... could barely fit in the cooking pot! Good luck 😊

Good thing the young bloke doesn't think crabs are as pretty as snapper then :whistling:🤣
