Headed out early this morning to the deep water near Lilli Pilli. Fishing within the 10km radius from home.

Motored against the breeze, temp was 6 degrees, with wind chill factor probably around zero. The breeze stayed up most of the time I was out.

The fish were caught on pillies, the squid getting chewed of quickly, probably small jackets, and the fish strips produced some small reddies. Nothing else to report, at least something for the plate.

Well done👏  Love the lowkey sessions when you come back with a nice feed

Is that a goatfish?

It's a Red Gurnard. Personally I don't keep them but I will if I have to

Thank you. It's a red gurnard. Reasonably good eating - some people rate it with flatties, but the flattie is out in front.

Glad you got out and the catch of scale is a bonus. Good on ya!
For some that’s just a memory…. a fading memory… a dream …

cheers Zoran

Thanks Zoran.

Just keep looking at that PLASTIC bonito and think what could/should/maybe happen. 🤣 At least the fish do not have covid.

Hi Yowie, thats a great catch. The snapper look great.

By the way,  did you notice any surface pelagics like slmon or tailor

Thank you. Could not see any surface action due to the constant wind and waves. No birds working the surface.

See. You just can’t help yourself but bring up plastic!  It really must be on your mind.

Just letting you know that with the time to practice that I’ve had,  I’ve practically perfected bitchslapping with that plastic bonnie. 👋😳

I’ll gladly introduce you two when we meet. 🤣
cheers Z

I’ve been seriously thinking it might be time for that carp sesh - salted bait for Browns. Parramatta river is within 10km. Hmmmm 😷😷😷

Fishing is fishing.

I caught a 59cm carp a few years ago at Nyngan, and it took some line before hitting the bank. I lost a bigger one that would not stop.
