Pickles
Buddy Steve was keen to try some bass fishing and “twisted my arm” to hit the Colo/ Hawkesbury. After the horrendous wind and tempest on Monday, I was a little dubious, but with a high pressure after a crashing low the day before and high tide at sunup - I was pretty confident we’d do OK … and the Bass came out to play (as well as two nice Flatties - in fresh water, but I usually get one or two down at the mouth of the Colo). We really brained them and Steve is now a convert - we boated 33 Bass (and 2 Flatties) by 8.30 am and had the boat and gear cleaned up and home before 10am. Yowie
Good work on the bass there Bob, and a couple of flatties for the plate. I bought some freshly caught Hawkesbury prawns last week, the bait shop near me, and cooked them up. Very tasty. Better than feeding them to the bass. 🤣
Little_Flatty
Some fantastic fish there Bob. And flatties in the fresh? Who would've known?! 42 minutes ago, Yowie said: Good work on the bass there Bob, and a couple of flatties for the plate. big Neil
Be nice to have a crack at them if the opportunity presents Bob. Looks like a purple Oar-gee lure was working for you. They're great on Golden Perch too. bn Edited December 13, 2022 by big Neil

lastworm
Nice one! I’ve seen a heap of pics of Hawkesbury bass lately and they are all fat and silver like the ones you caught. Must be good numbers still returning from the salt?
Volitan
Nice bass. I love the colo. Salt water penetrates the Colo way up past the Putty Road bridge. Those rivers have a ‘wedge’ of salt water at the bottom which perfectly suits flathead, being bottom dwellers. cheers
R E G I C Y C L E
Great report, absolutely slaying the bass. It's crazy how far into the fresh flatties will go... they're not uncommon as far up as Yarramundi.

GordoRetired
Another good day on the water. Well done Bob. I hit the harbor on Saturday morning with a mate, could not find any squid but got a few Yakkas so fished with them. Did not turn a reel all morning,... 😞
