Yowie
Headed out early this morning with nippers pumped from yesterday. Just a slow drift, not anchored. First nipper out just as first light appeared on the horizon, and did not take long for the larger whiting to grab it. The other whiting a little while later, then when a bit more light appeared, the pickers, toads, porcupines turned up. Headed to a few different spots, just pickers stealing the baits. Moved around to the mouth of Burraneer Bay, the only hook up was a 46cm trevally that did a few laps around the boat. Released. Back at base just after 7am. The larger whiting weighed right on 1.5 pound.

It put up a fight and tasted rather nice. One thing with the larger whiting is the skin is a bit tough, so I skin them. The skin on the smaller ones is not a problem. Keflapod
Hi Yowie, Can I ask what water temp you have in the hacking at the moment? The Georges river and bay has been sitting on 19.5 up until Christmas and the fishing has been abysmal. Even the stingrays were absent at that point. The weather is rather ordinary at times. Should start to calm down later on Sunday, Monday, then turn south again on Tuesday.

Don't know the temp (no temp gauge on boat) but still feels a little bit cool. A swim at Wanda last week shows the temp is still down, however, the warmer current is on it's way south.
