I wasn't expecting Ponga to make the squad in all honesty, Walsh brings that X factor with his explosive pace and will again cause problems for NSW out wide, he's a nightmare to defend against when he's up in the line in the oppositions 30 and he will have to have an absolute howler for him to be dropped now. Now NSW, Will Freddy realize, that this is probably his last chance ?? If he doesn't make wholesale changes for origin 2, ( apart from injury changes) I don't think he will be around for an origin 3 swan song. As that old saying goes, a well drilled team that plays as a team, will always out play a team of stars, example being, that "3 star" NSW full backs, Teddy, turbo and Mitchell, who excel in the fullback position, all get picked and 2 effectively, play out of position, to be included in the run on team. Latrell I guess you could say he plays center for origin and the kangaroo's, BUT, to me, you pick specialists in positions they play in week in week out, it's mind boggling that Turbo is selected in the centers, keeping out other specialist centers, in my opinion he should start at full back. I guess it's just a gripe I've always had, no matter what team it is, but that's only my thoughts,,, and after all, Freddy gets the big bucks, so it's down to him. I hope NSW can get up to make the series live for the 3rd origin, but don't really hold out to much hope there unfortunately.. 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I can understand Latrell at centre and Turbo maybe if he's thought to be better than any other option . . . But things like switching someone out of their 'usual' spot ? that makes no sense to me. In Game 1 I think Crichton normally plays on right for Panthers and had to defend left in Origin? that makes no sense. Do I remember rightly that The Fox and To'o also swapped from their usual sides? Not 100% convinced that Paulo and Haas are the right forwards, both "big boppers" but (in my opinion) in Origin you need an 80 minute, fast "motor" not a 20 minute bulldozer, look at Tino, and Pat Carrigan, both long minute players with some speed and footwork. I guess we will see next week if it's a sad plane home to NSW.......damn I am pissed I missed out on tickets! edit.......there's an old saying, "a champion team will always beat a team of champions" NSW have champions/stars everywhere on the field, but.......
