jenno64
Grabbed half a dozen big poddies yesterday in the hope of a mullo this morning. Hit the Georges at 6:30am and fished a couple of deeper spots but things were quiet. Once the tide started slowing down I had a good hit and up came a fat 60+ flatty. I put it into the livewell and did a couple more drifts flicking plastics as well. Lost 2 more livies to either flatties or mullos that hit and ran. Now only armed with lures I headed out into the bay and drifted with a prawn imitation plastic and a curly tail minnow. Got a few good hits along the way and picked up two feisty flounder that swallowed the whole plastic and a nice flatty in the 50s. Released a dozen smaller models and packed up at 11am. Cleaned the catch and both the flathead and flounder had roe. A few nice fillets and I'll do the flounder whole:)
LuckyFil
That’s a good catch for sure. Dont the flounder hit the plastic hard and fight really well ! I caught one a couple of weeks ago when chasing flatties up near Ettalong.

Thanks, both flounder inhaled the plastics and I had to do some surgery to get them out! 14 hours ago, Larkin said: Good effort Rob, and a top feed there! Yes Dave they go very nicely on the plate, I fry them in the wok and do a dipping sauce over the top...a bit fiddly but prime white flesh:) On 2/19/2024 at 10:59 AM, kantong said: nice catches there mate, love a good fish on the livies Any fish caught on livies is a winner for me too! Robbo from Sydney
My fishing partner's wife is French and they love flounder - pan fried with burnt butter and caper sauce. We catch quite a few when chasing flathead in Middle Harbour/Hunters Bay. Unfortunately there is little fight in them unless they are quite large.
