  5. cheers guys Dan , believe it or not it had a smell to it but it was not strong or off putting. And apprently they go well on the plate. yeah squido - i cant imagine the amount of bust off's caused by surgeons but called for kings. They do pull just as bloody hard if not harder
  6. Thanks for that guys By the results so far you guys will brain em over summer!
  7. Thanks for that guys!,might give that a go next time!, just another question , are you guys using jigheads or just using them unweighted? Rob
  8. Very nice fish guys, even better after work!
  9. I have been hearing horror stories of guys not being able to stop just 60cm models on 40lb braid with locked drags. Once hooked they normally make a insanley fast dash for cover
  10. Thanks guys Cheers pete, ill enter it in Dan , yeah i should be , not sure what night though.
  11. Nup, unweighted baits in a burley trail, they were wolfing down the bread we were throwing in. ive been told its normal for them to do that which i wasnt expecting
  12. Yeah, we had no net and no rag's on us so it was the only option, yeah , he got a couple of cuts on his hand ..apparently the scutes vary from fish to fish, some may be fairly blunt while other sharp as blades
  13. Fished around the harbour bridge with a mate this morning for my first shot at a surgeon fish, burlyed a couple up and managed to hook one on peeled prawn , he actually swam out , away from the wharf and i was able to get him in close enough for my mate to grab him, not without a couple of battle scars though! He went 51cm and believe it or not i was using 6lb fireline with a 10lb leader, talk about beginners luck!, not much later i hooked another but he took off like a steam train straight under , no chance of stopping him! but mission acomplished (spelling?) , i was content with just seeing one let alone hooking and landing the bugger! After that we moved to clifton gardens for nothing and then balmoral where we got a nice bream and trevally each. called it a day about 11.30 Rob
  14. Nice haul there!, kingies will gobble them up with no 2nd thoughts! Rob
  15. thats a solid trev! Nice looking boat 2!!
  16. Good luck 2moro guyz Bother were taken on self caught - frozen squid i was chuckng in quite a bit of burly aswell , dont know if that had any thing to do with it or not though... Rob
  17. Went out on the boat today, launched about 3.45 and jigged for squid for a few hours for S.F.A ..not happy jan, when the sun got a bit higher we decided to see if the salmon were on the chew around the heads , sata round for a while and there was quite a few birds zooming around but no visible signs of the fish, as we headed back in there was a small gathering of about 6 or 7 boats just on the inside of north head , and a tinytiny school of salmon sipping the surface maybe 20 or so fish, decided it wasnt worth competeting with all the others and hightailed it into middle harbour. we anchored up and soon began pulling in pinkies. We had the big baits in but they only got picked to bits.. , i was fishing 6lb for the pinkies and suddlenly the rod was almost ripped out of my hands, luckily i didnt let go! ,a very nervous fight later i boated my 1st king of the season @ 55cm About 20mins later i was doing the same and the same thing happend but this thing was MUCH stronger, he swam towards the middle of the channel like the other king but the hooks soon pulled...so who know's what that could have been After that i pulled in a big fat bream and he was readily chased up by a minature kingy , probably pushing 45cm , he was trying to eat the bream...good luck with that But quickly dissapeared before we could throw anything at him..bugger By 9.30 things had slowed down a bit so we headed back, to the ramp victorious Rob
