  1. The Bluefin have begun to arrive around Bermi, 1 boat 5 way hookup and boated four. A few other boats also landed fish. No barrells as yet from the photos ive seen, most fish above 20kg. Wont be long before there here.
  2. Fish cocktails for the street lol. Just be very careful with makos, have seen them come back after 4hrs on a deck.
  3. Yeah thanks fellas, bit hard with the wind but worth it. Very happy neighbours, just kept the marble flatty as i rate it over all other fish there.
  4. JonD,? i wasnt going to post this but.... M8 its agreat time of year to fish and whale watch, i reckon the return run is better but can be a bit funny at times especially with the juveniles. We hooked one last year on the return run, two whales, mother and calf popped up out of nowhere next to the boat. Next thing rod goes off, whale legs it, turns to port at a rate of knots and thats it, alls good , except exhange of undies needed. Havebeen jigging at the 12 with four around the boat and not a problem lol. M8 its a great experience and you wont forget it. I think they are fantastic and their return in numbers is good. They are a powerful animal that can do damage to boats. The best footage i have seen are two sailors in Hamilton Island anchored up, 2 juvenile humpys come by and one grabs the anchor rope. They then proceed to tow the.yacht for miles each taking turns , one would drop the rope the other would pick it up. Ends up with the bloke scrambling forward with a hatchet chopping the rope!
  5. Gday all, great morning to be out little bit windy outside the heads and got up to 20kn by lunch. Not a great deal of swell around and the current if any dribbling sth.Water colour varying off Sydney from blue to green depending on depth but temps steady at 20.3. Fishing wise, found the snapper to be on this morning but quickly dwindled by daylight. Quite alot of throwbacks around which is good. Flathead scene seems to be ok again, nice and hungry on the chew. Had a huge fight with a cuttle that ate a flatty, couldnt be vothered to bring it into the boat due to the mess they make although i do love a cuttle belly. Few mowies mixed in with it all as well.
  6. Goingfishing, same problem was flatty city?. You will always find them this time of year in and around that depth, between 30 -50M,if you are struggling with the little ones always move in or out 10M in depth till you find them. They have been in roe now for a few weeks, the next full moon should see them do their business and then they will move out, they breed from what ive observed and written down 3 x a year. The weirdest thing was out of our collection of fish we puled a dusky, never in 35yrs have i ever caught one outside the heads. Lol always pays to think things through before tearing off and trying to help someone who doesnt need it! ??
  7. Great feed of flatties there Goingfishing. We had the same problem as you on Sunday lol. In answer to your worry on seeing a bilge pump working OT lol. They would of been running a live bait tank and were probably laughing as you had no idea.

Great feed of bluespots Yowie, still rate the marbles.the best of all. All our fish were full of roe as well, probably why they are all in close. My grandfather loved flatty roe, would leave it in a gutted fish, place on a barbie topside down then finish it off on the belly. Would also roll them in flour, egg and breadcrumbs and fry. Can also do the later for tuna hearts deeelicious.
  9. Gdau all, bit of a late report for yesterday. Finally things are starting to come good off Sydney. Beautiful sunday morning almost zero wind and swell. Water has begun to clean up and so it should with nearly 3 knots of current heading south on saturday had begun to slow to 1.5 on Sunday. Water still a little green in close 40M but starts to clean up in the 70s. Fish heavily on the chew sunday morning all the way to low tide. Got two beautiful marbles and a couple of bluespots. The snapper have been punishing, ratio of 1 out of 5 size wise the othe 5 being 29.9s lol. Plenty of mowies about and good size fish too. Interesting all fish are in roe. Lost a few good trevally due to soft mouths and an over zealous fishing partner. Anyway they are there so get amongst it.
  10. Some nice fish there m8, well done!
  11. Just watching 10 news in Sydney. A fisherman in a tournament on a river, has found a car that police have been looking for. Contained the remains of a missing person. What blew me away was the quality of the sounder picture showing the car on the bottom. From growing up with paper sounders to this, i really wonder what the future has to offer. The actual still on the news was a better photo.
  12. Glass and blue, dont get much better than that. Nice feed there Scratchie! You gotta get out of the habit of making fish look bigger in a photo, doesnt suit you..?
  13. Nice feed m8, its always bumpy through the heads with any swell due to the reverb of the cliffs. Only lasts for a while but puts many people off. What you must look for is the primary groundswell and go off that, Or if your worried about the swell, always look at North and Middle Head to see if they are breaking.
  14. Farvos, its in the post lol. Big neil they were all caught on peeled Hawkesbury's and pillie heads and tails. I had fresh squid but none of it was touched. The only thing that ate it were the toads, They were chasing the fish up and demolished a little sgt baker on the way up.
  15. Dont worry Samjames, m8 had the same problem, plenty at 29.9 too.
  16. Gday all, again a great morning to be out. Harbour again glass. Headed out the heads to the same swell that has been running for the last few days. Current dropped off from yesterday but water still dirty. Went south again but gave up after the toads set in,even though the water is 23°. Moved back down to Rosa wide and finally escaped the green beasts. Finally the fish began to chew. Interesting that every fish had empty stomachs, so it proves that the dirty water had put them off. Struck a nice patch of snapper that we worked for a while and the results paid off, the biggest at 41 the rest 32s etc. Lost a few bigger ones on the kelp trees Had a few rat kings as well.A couple of mowies in the mix and a nice blue spot and my fav a marble. Wind completely dropped on the high tide and so did the fish. Called it a day and headed home. As long as this water clears up the fish will be going off just hope im out rhere when they come on. Highlight of the day was a thresher that decided to do aerials next to the boat. Anyway thats a rap so there you go.
  17. Nice feed of blackies there.
  18. Samjames m8 just in 60m. Yowie, was waiting for a blowup on the mowies lol. The toads have been rampant m8, hopefully that current pushes them all down to rhe hacking lol. Halfway out now so see what happens today.
  19. Gday all, once again harbour glorious this morning.Absolutely zero wind and a great run to the heads. Conditions have been the same all weekend, water green in patches and full of toads, didnt bother with a report from yesterday as it wasnt worth it. Fished off coogee today as we went north yesterday and got toaded out. If you can find the cleaner water you wont get toads. Finally today saw a couple of nice fish trag at 39, snapper at 39, two marbles at 42 and the bluespot at 52, the mowies around the 50s. Current picked up on the high tide to 1.7kn downhill. The fishing is still hard but they are there. Anyway out again tomorrow so just hope it gets better.
  20. Gday all, again a nice morning to be out. A few boats out and about but not a great deal, seems a lot have gone away for easter. A nice 1-2M swell from the sou east was running and a light westerley was giving it a go. Fished of coogee today, water still green and dirty, temp at 23° and current running downhill at .5kn. Fishing is still hard with a long time between bites, plenty of great shows but not many playing games. Really think the rain has got a lot to do with it, just to much fresh around on top. managed a few flatties of no real size, 1 keeper snapper and plenty of throwbacks and throw in a few mowies as well. Had a lot of green toads following fish up, just shows you how dirty the water is. Highlight of the day goes to a little hammerhead about 1.3M long nonchalantly swimming around the boat, threw a few baits at it but not interested. Saw the same one an hour later down near rosa. Anyway thats it, out again tomorrow so well see what happens.
  21. Gday all, awesome morning on the harbour today till you got to the heads. Average easterly swell greeted us and a light notherly to boot, so much for rhe glass harbour lol. Headed Nth to near the whale. Water green pretty much through, can see the edge of mixing water as you head out. Current north at around .8 of a KN. Water temps varying from 23-24° and pretty warm throughout the column. Fishing wise all sorts one day good next day bad. Some great fish around if you can get them. Flatties have been hard to find but managed a few today, all bluespots, best at 75 and fat. Found a 20cm sand eel in its stomach!. A few mowies and 2 kingies at 70cm. Not much to say except i wish this rain would piss off and hope that the water starts to clean up. Anyway fishing all easter from thursday to tuesday so i guess well have to see what happens. Good Friday looks disgraceful, typical Easter Weather shitehouse.
  22. There should be plenty of boats off Sydney, tournament on. SGFC.
  23. Nice samjames95, what depth you in? Has the current slowed? That flatty looks odd is it a blue spot?
  24. We were out from their this morning but noticed no commotion over that way, only heard it over the 7am news. Accidents happen and it happens to all, doesnt matter how long you have done something for, you may be a great fighter but there is one always better than you. I used to decky for a pro who was a champion rock fisho, when we used to leave the heads hed show me places that they would fish, id.stare in amazement at some locations hed show me every rock and path to take. The scarriest the bottom of Maquarie light with no rope. He has fallen from the top of Bluefish, broke his leg. What stopped him fishing was fishing with a m8 at Cape Bailey, high ledge. Talking one minute looks away, ledge breaks . Yes there are many here who have grown up rock hopping, surfing, surf club etc , many lucky to be taught by older blokes the ropes old school. Now take a step back for those who have grown up on a sea with no tide and minnimum wave height if any. Then come here. The results speak for themselves and all points expressed above are true in every aspect. So what does it take.. that is a huge question.
