  1. Great efforts landing your first snapper on plastics
  2. Great effort trev , bloody lousy weather this afternoon though . Good work on catch and release mate Chris.
  3. Thats incredibale Whats the secret bait and berley Enjoy the feast mate , not many of us get to try lobster so fresh , my mouths watering already thinking about it. conratulations on a well earned fishraider record on bait Chris.
  4. Mate that ramp is picnic point boat shed and is a great ramp to launch at ...........JUST be careful as it is a very short ramp and your trailer will drop over the slab edge especially on low tide and you can run into dramas or damage to the trailer. At night there is adequate lighting at the ramp also and you can catch your livies from around the light using berley too chris.
  5. Hi daniel , Fishing close too and on the full moon is definately going to test your fishing skills. My experience is quality over quantity coming up to the full moon , night fishing trips. In saying that my preferance is fishing large baits to suit such as mackeral strips , whole pilchards ( head off)Live worms etc. I tend to fish in close to the rocks or right on the drop offs into the main channel not in the channel itself and do ok with the bream , flathead , jews . Also keep the fishing line as fine and as light as possible to suit the spot your fishing.Move around to find the fish . Chris
  6. Hi Raiders Finished work yesterday afternoon and went past mum's place to wish her a Happy Birthday and then decided to go out for a fish with a friend. Weather wasn't looking too good but we weren't going to allow that to dampen the night. Hooked up the tinny put the fishing and wet weather gear in and headed off to Greys Point Boat Ramp arriving there at 10:30pm....late as always and missing the tide change. Motored over to the rock ledges and anchored up to fish for some blue nose bream. We put out two rods each with mixed baits...prawns, pilchards, slimy mackerel fillet and chicken breast. Wasn't long before the rain came, at first only a drizzle so we put our wet weather gear on, at least I did as my mate couldn't find his wet weather pants . Around 20 minutes or so after being anchored the pilchard rod goes off, drag screaming, but as soon as we tried to set the hook the fish had already made its way along the rocks and was busted off quickly. Wouldn't have been more than 5 minutes the Mackerel fillet rod went off, I have never seen a 1000 reel drag scream so much. Picked the rod up and played tug-of-war with the fish until I won the battle and was very pleased to see a nice soapie of 83cm come aboard which turned out to be the same fish we had hooked up 5 minutes previous as the rig was still in its mouth. We fished for another half hour or so but was very uncomfortable as the rain was getting very heavy so we decided to call it a night but we were happy to bring home a nice suprise for the night. By the way....my mate found his wet weather pants sitting in my driveway when we got home Chris
  7. Hey stan only done a couple of trips for marlin , heading out on the calm days only , don,t like large swells out wide. I like to sit on the 8-9knots and sit back and enjoy the troll With the lures your thinking of using keep the larger most aggressive action lures in close to the boat and least aggressive out the back. Can,t wait for the marlin season to come on strong , goodluck on the troll mate. VERY , VERY addictive fishing but hooking up to a couple in april this year its worth all the time you put in once you hook up Chris.
  8. Great catch , especially on the handline Always nice to catch a jew from the hacking , great eating fish yumm Good to see Mr pelican got a feed Chris.
  9. Your mojo is back WELL DONE Its so worth the efforts to be rewarded with some nice jew to give you that boost Chris

  16. WOW fantastic effort and loads of fun on bream gear . WELL DONE Chris.
  17. Great waterway to catch any species you want to chase , even heard of yellow fin in south west arm from time to time would love to see with my own eyes to believe it . Plenty of public mooring to tie up and do over nighters for the big fishing trips. Plenty of nipper grounds for gathering live bait if needed Only thing that can bring you un-stuck in the hacking is the sand bars you have to pretty much stay in the channels otherwise keep a good eye on the sounder.Put your boat in and you,ll be hooked for life Chris.
  18. That explains why there weren,t many squid around. Saw a bloke down there last year working a kingfish jig doing castand retrieves , He was keen to catch a king but he never hooked up , Had a good work out though Any idea if the wharf light still turns off at a set time , it use to go off at 10pm??? Chris.
  19. Mate i love bream fishing using bait. What i look for mainly in estuaries is rocky shore line with the current pushing up onto and along the rocks ie bends or rock points in the system . For bait i use large baits such as pilchard , mullet or bonito for bait and fish in close to shore most times with a good berley trail. Most fishing is done at NIGHT for my bream and i do very well when they are on . You will be suprised how shallow the water might seem or look sometimes then have a bream come out of nowhere to take your offering , great fun. Good luck Chris.
  20. Always fun being out with friends even with squid that seem to drop off . Doesn,t sound like too much around at the moment????? Were you putting any berley out???? Couple more weeks and all should be firing in yowie bay Chris.
  21. Well earned feed you caught there rob , good eating sizes too. Great work and good to see them in numbers Chris.
  22. Thats great work guys , nice trip when you can bag a few quality fish that you are targeting . Good to hear your very happy with your boat choice They definately look very comfortable fishing boats Chris.
  23. Thanks Tony for the offer to go out fishing. Had a great day. Thanks to everyone for all your nice comments. I must say I haven't targeted Whiting in all my time fishing as a target species and I think it is a very addictive fish once you know how to catch them properly. I've heard people say "yea, I can catch Whiting" but I have to say it is definately an art to go out and catch quality in numbers without going overboard on buying too much bait, as I usually come home, like most people, with heaps of bait left over. I had to laugh how I was striking the fish and all Tony kept saying to me was "let it be, let it take the bait down" and me being pig-headed was trying to set the hook while they were biting the bait......Lesson 1 learnt on Whiting fishing. As for rod selection, you definately don't need finesse when it comes to Whiting fishing. My 1-3kg rods are out the window, I'll be using a little bit stiffer rods next time......Lesson 2 learnt. Trace I was using 14lb....way too heavy for the Whiting. Hooks you need to make sure you cover properly with the bait, not like I was doing, having the hook exposed. Couldn't believe what difference that makes on the Whiting until I started following Tony's set-up. As for the hook I tied on your rod Tony, it was tied on well wasn't it? You have to admit, I slowed you down for a bit until you figured it out I even tried to make my quantity bigger by pinching your fish while you were at the front of the boat and coming round to you saying "hey I caught another one" . I think you must have marked your fish because you knew straight away that it was one of your friends and not mine Totally enjoyed my Whiting fishing session. Tony....keep that seat warm for the next trip. It's nice to understand how to fish for them properly now. Can you please remind me though, before we set out on our fishing trip, to bring my lunch, as I'm a fishaholic and comes before my lunch most times, as you've noticed. Chris
