  1. Hi Raiders Went out yesterday with gonefishin (Meng) and Karisma (Chris). Great weather and couldn't wait to get out there and enjoy the day. Headed South with the lures out to gather some Bonito, managed a few in the early morning but they were very far and few in between, with Karisma pulling in one beauty of a Bonito which measured 60cm which is his PB Bonito which neither Meng nor myself have yet to catch one of that size. We slowly made our way back into Bates Bay and fished around the reef structures to give the Snapper a go, we tried for quite a few hours and came up with triple zero's fishing with bait and lures . Managed to pull up a large squid over the reefs on a pilchard bait so we decided to switch to squid jigs and gather some large winter squid for a feed of salt and pepper calamari. It was nice to watch Karisma catch squid as it was his first time ever catching them which is another PB for him. Chris
  2. For a bait that will work anywhere i would go for pilchards for bream. But using a mix of baits is the key, my choice is bonito/mullet fillets, strips of steak, chicken and the good old prawn. Chris.
  3. Eating from the georges river is fine , but always look at the fish for any abnormalities such as red spots , fins deformrd etc. This applies everywhere i suppose these days.If so i definately don,t risk eating the fish. Plenty of jew in the river this year and it is definately worth catching Chris.

  11. Wouldn,t mind having a piece of your second hairtail from the left in a soup . Did you have many bite offs while fishing or did you put wire trace on for there teeth , were glow light sticks needed on your line??? Looked them up on youtube to see them swim they actually swim in a unique manner heads always looking upwards. Apparently very good sashimi. Chris.
  12. Great trip , nice feed of flattie fillets
  13. What a trip , looks like you nailed them before they made there way up to WB. great looking feed mate enjoy Chris.
  14. Best burley is bread crumbs with tuna oil and water to moisten the crumbs. DON,T over do tuna oil. Throw out enough burley to keep them around the spot you are fishing. My prefered bait is small pieces of prawn on a small hook set around 1 foot under a tiny float. Very nice eating and well worth the efforts to catch them Chris.
  15. Way to go , would that be a PB? Well done Chris.
  16. Wouldn,t take the risk of any heater in a boat ,i find the idea quite scary just wear full set of thermal clothing +++++ extra warm clothing , couple of flasks of hot packet soups +++ 2 beanies and your set And just keep fishing
  17. Great trip , nice feed to go round. well done guys

  21. Hi Raiders Headed out for a fish today with "gonefishin" (Meng) in Port Hacking using soft plastics as our main goal. Weather wasn't that good, it was drizzling when we arrived but being the long weekend we weren't going to let the weather dampen our fun and boy we had everything out there today....wind, rain and choppy rough seas. Headed out to the close-in reefs and started throwing plastics around, we were also armed with 2 litres of chicken noodle soup, 1 litre of piping hot coffee and gourmet sandwiches to keep us warm. Wasn't long and Meng hooked up to his first snapper measuring 50cm on a soft plastic I've never seen before. Next fish to be hooked was a nice solid king fish by myself which was caught on a 6" grub nuclear chicken which I enjoyed the fight tremendously but was lost boat side when the hook came free. We then moved around a little as things got rather quiet and they stayed that way for some time so we decided to sit back and enjoy some sandwiches and coffee. Weather started to improve rain wise so we moved to a new spot and got back into fishing where we got quite alot of hook-ups from rat king fish and many reef species and we managed to bag a few more snapper and a really nice looking tropical species of fish which I have never seen before in all the years of fishing in Cronulla which we let go and was nice to see it swimming away beautifully. It measured 26cm. I have posted a picture of it so if anyone knows what it is please let me know. Finishing the day off we changed to squid jigs and gathered a few squid before heading in. Chris
