  1. Can't help with the weed but its definitely worth a crack. Live yakkas, mullet fillet, squid (whole, half and strips) aswell as clusters of beachworms. Different people have different theories about jews and the moon. Personally, a few days either side is best. Give it a go
  2. Yeah, definitely apple tree mate. Akuna is the other option but its much further than apple tree
  3. Good luck mate! Fish the closest gutter to the lake entrance and you'll be in with a chance. They should be feeding actively in this area after all the rain we've had! Let us know how you go! Good luck! Tom
  4. For snapper and kings you can't go past some 5" and 7" jerkshads. Most colours are good with nulcear chicken and camo my favourites!
  5. Yeah, ipods have been know to be unreliable.. My iphone which is only 5 months old is already playing up for no apparent reason.. I guess the point is that technology isn't as good as they make it out to be. To answer your other question, yes, the internet does tend to affect the battery a bit as opposed to music etc.. Games and applications also drain battery very quickly. Good luck with it!

    SP outfit

Its always hard to go cheap. If it were me i'd bump the budget up $100. I would then suggest a 2500 Shimano Symmetre and a Jewell or Raider 2-4kg. If you keep your budget low then i'd go for a 2500 Shimano Alivio and any basic spin rod you can get. The alivio is only about $45 and worth every bit i have to say. I have had it for 3 years now and it is perfect for bream, flathead, trevally and tailor. Good luck!
  7. It really depends on how often its used. Mine generally lasts 3 days when used a few times a day. If it continues to run out faster and faster then take it in for a service and see what they say. Cheers, Tom
  8. hahaha maybe they should consider re-naming it then!
  9. Bad luck mate! Could have been a grouper. Might have even been a jew or snapper. Their first instinct is to head straight for the reef. But then you say it snagged you up under the reef? That makes me think more big blue grouper!
  10. Thats right mate. They get big up north. Only ever seen small shovelnose to a max of 1m in NSW. I'm sure there are some bigger ones though! One time up in noosa i caught 3 over 130cm in one day on live mullet. Biggest was 163 from memory!
  11. Online mate. Don't take long to arrive either. Just a couple of days
  12. Thats a nice one mate! A bloke i fish with in weipa snared this one a few years back! http://www.weipafishing.com.au/resized/gallery_zoom-32.jpg
  13. Slimies are a gun bait mate. They're also a great bottom bashing bait when cut up. I agree with sydangler about chucking one out around the school. Would have been a few kings or tuna around for sure!
  14. Yeh mate, definitely a shovelnose. They go hard when they get bigger. Often mistake the biggens for big jews or bull sharks.
  15. Nice work mate! Well done for braving the conditions and coming back with a good bag of hairies. Can't wait to have a crack at them myself! Cheers, Tom
  16. This should help with leader knots... http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=63655&view=findpost&p=446507&hl=&fromsearch=1
  17. South America for Piraiba and Arapaima Kimberley for that elusive meter barra and what not Mothership Coral Sea for monster GT's and Doggies
  18. Great session fellas You still did well to manage a few nice fish considering the weather we've been having! I can imagine the fight with the ray very well. I fought a rather large ray in Noosa on 2-4kg stick and 4lb braid. Took 50 minutes to get in!
  19. At it again mate! Well done on a good catch
  20. Thanks for that Kyngfish. Really helpful. I'll definitely have a look at the articles

    Cobia?

Deefinitely the biggest cobe i've seen!
  22. Hi mate, sorry to bother you again. Is the whole of waratah bay productive or just certain parts?
  23. Thanks for the help! Much appreciated! Good luck for next time!
  24. Ah, okay. Do you just burley them up and catch them on a handline? Or a bait jig? Sorry for asking questions mate, just trying to get enough info to chase them myself!
