  1. We headed out yesterday targeting marlin in close. Stayed inside 60 ftms all day running from Botany up to the harbour but all we found ourselves doing was pulling in countless numbers of fat striped tuna. Marked quite a few marlin holding down about 30m around the peak but couldnt get them to come up and only saw few flying fish all day Water looked great 25 degrees and there was a hard blue green zone transition especially out front of botany that we went back and worked Just about 20 mins before pulling lines in big hit on rigger lure and spool starts emptying line and spinning off its axis but run didnt last that long so knew wasnt a marlin once lines were cleared it came in reasonably fast so thought it was a dolly till we saw colour we came to within an inch of losing it at the side of boat when it took off for NZ again during gaffing but eventually hit the deck....just happy we did not get snipped off as it had the rear hook of double shackle in end of its nose keeping us clear Great BBQ steaks coming up! PS Have my required item in the photo ( shoes) for entry into catch of month
  2. How you boys all go today? Find anything outside the chocolate water before the southerly smashed in?
  3. In a current line on shelf In the original report
  4. Well finally after all this cold green the cobalt 23-24 water and big dollies are here Was quiet for most on marlin today including us but we found a couple of these fat girls on shelf in a current line and was devastated to lose a 20-25kg bull after a battle too on same spot Well done Rami on your PB mate
  5. GH1952 expect to find cold green dirty water if you heading south of Bayer station tmrw
  6. They were lucky to survive They had decided to fish in less than 10 m of water against the rock face in the surge Home Video online of police boat rescue
  7. we found that same hard break off Gong yesterday... was rapids with the currents colliding with the crap caught in middle with huindreds birds...we were sure we were going to score.. we did laps along it with a trailer boat passing eachother on way...after about 4 laps they stopped and had hooked up and looked like a decent fish fighting for maybe hour..dont know if they ended up getting it or pulling hooks..( was a green trophy boat) we got a decent hit on one rigger but hooks did not stick ended up heading back up north a bit for arvo tide change and cube SE of browns and only got few small albies although there were some YFT taken in that area during day by late arvo was glass out for trip home comepared to bumpy ride out
  8. none of this electric business for me, I want to feel like I have actually caught/beaten the fish and achieved something no sport at all otherwise Proven on my mates boat last year also its faster. We both hooked up to big gemmies same time...he hit "up" on his el;ectric and I started cranking. My fish was on the deck and his was 100m still down in shark danger I use setup as per this pic from when we were hooked up to a similar size blue eye last year. Double handed Deck winch modified to hold a 80lb game rod out as a boom arm...can see bites clearly and gives shock loading and helps lift
  9. While the tuna still hit and miss Browns is firing when there actually is a weather window Gemmies are still the baby ones with the horses still on their way Perfect conditions yesterday then this big pig turned up too
  10. 20lb will almost snap just from jerking of a 3kg sinker in the water from the boat moving with waves
  11. I wouldn't have the breakaway on the sinker so close though Asking for trouble getting your main rig snagged up 6m of 60 lb mono breakaway below main rig attached to sinker I run 130lb main line braid
  12. I use 36mm reo bar chopped down length about 400mm It's 8kg per metre weight in that gauge Can drill hold thru surprisingly easily and loop some heavy gauge wire or get an exhaust shop to tack weld the same wire in loop across end So then alignment with weight falls vertical for less drag and helps reduce snagging up too Works out about 7 bucks a sinker I think
  13. "tantrum" is the boat run by president of sydney game fishing club, there was a tournament on today
  14. boat terminal transport...sydney based...very good and professional. I had them bring down my newly built 3 T noosacat on trailer bed from Noosa to sydney and deliver it from their depo once they used their crane to lift it off also cost $2k but that was based on size and height /weight etc i will try find pic when they loaded it check their website http://boatterminal.com.au/
  15. There is still plenty out there boys...these all taken on shelf on Sunday morning Up to 90cm, we left millions there still Most taken on live Yakkas but also on whole pillies when we ran out of livies
  16. KNOW WHO TO NOT VOTE FOR IN THE ELECTION THIS MONTH UNLESS YOU WANT THE ENTIRE COAST LOCKED DOWN TO FISHING We need to spread this to as many people as possible NSW Opposition Leader LABOR Luke Foley’s fishing policy. Yes, the Libs and Nats have been disappointing. But if this extremist greenie nutbag takes control of state parliament, we’re done for: ++++++++++++++++ Subject: Thank you for your email regarding recreational fishing in NSW NSW has nearly 800,000 adult recreational fishers, they take part in a healthy outdoor activity that brings themselves and the State great benefits. Labor has always actively encouraged recreational fishing and we have a strong record of introducing policies and programs to promote fishing, fish stocks and facilities and safety. Recreational fishing brings much more than just economic benefit but on its own the economic impact of recreational fishing is significant estimated at more than $3.4 billion in economic output and over 14,000 full time equivalent jobs. Labor in Government introduced the recreational fishing licence fee and with it Labor was able to create all of NSW’s recreational fishing havens, invest in habitat protection and improvement including in inland waterways, introduce artificial reefs and fish aggregation devices, improve facilities and infrastructure for fishing across the state, undertake record stocking programs along with a range of other initiatives like safe fishing and ‘get hooked’. Labor has consistently invested in the future of fishing as well as the current. We recognise that having plenty of fish available for recreational fishing means we have to protect and improve habitat and put in place scientifically based bag limits and sometimes restrictions to ensure long term stocks. We also value our commercial fishing industry and recognise that it must be able to have a long term viable future as well – not everyone can catch their own fish and NSW people should be able to get quality fresh fish at shops, markets or at the local fish and chip shop. We also all have an obligation to protect our marine environment, marine parks play a role in that but Labor also recognises that the health of our marine environment relates to many other things including run off into our estuaries, development and many other activities. Labor values marine parks but we also know that protecting vital fisheries from industrial pollution or oil slicks is just as important. Office of The Hon. Luke Foley MLC NSW Opposition Leader Shadow Minister for Infrastructure Shadow Minister for the Environment Shadow Minister for Western Sydney PH: (02)9230 2310 FAX: (02)9230 3355
  17. I always offshore frequently well out of sight of land so redundancy of all things to get me home is important I have a Noosacat So isolated systems, twin motors fuel and electrical systems if one goes down Radio and satellite phone All things very new so no breakdown issues but all it takes is for me to collide with something in water like a tree trunk or something and rip one prop off then I can still get home on one of my twin 150s
  18. Headed out on Sat chasing some beakies.... reports had been quiet for few days before so we were a bit unsure of results.. With great conditions and hot 26 degree water out wide most boats headed out wide and found a desert but we felt there would be better water up north and in close off Northern beaches for the inshore temp break so we set a course up there and had Zero boats around us Found current lines everywhere and then a big pool of coral spawn bunched up in about 50 ftms in 24.3.... As soon as lures passed it we had a very violent hit on the rigger and and 30 mins later a 80-90kg stripey boatside. Beautiful ultraviolet healthy fish swum for a few mins and then we watched him swim away You can see from the pics how "challenging" the weather conditions were offshore on Sat too as a bonus! And yes your Carbon poles Gary continue to perform like a dream!
