  1. Please tell me if I have it correct. You can trap crabs with traps or witches hats in the Berowra Creek during the week and not of a weekend. I launch my boat at Berowra and only fish during the week so would like to try the traps. Hoping during the week there is less chance of people stealing them. Thanks Norm
  2. I go Moruya camping at the Headland near the airport quite a lot and will be down there probably from the 22nd Jan if the wife does not have to go to the Doctors . I am attending a wedding in Rutherglen Vic and travelling back up the coast and Moruya is a favourite spot the Doctors appointment will determine if I stay or come straight back home. I also go to Durras Lakes south as well, Durras Lakes is good for fishing and prawning however the lake I think is not open to the sea at present, was down there about 4 months ago it was locked off by sand. A seal had got in there and played havoc with the fish so I did not get anything. Durras Lakes unlike The Entrance is shallow at the sea part however further up the lake it get the about 7 metres . Go on YouTube and see North Durras Lake camping he has video on the lake which quite good. Hope this helps Norm
  3. I lived at The Entrance from 1948 to 1956 as young boy and got Pelican Itch can't remember how we got relief, when I go prawning up there now I wear waders don't care how hot they are it better than Pelican Itch.
  4. On the Nth side of The Entrance there is a picnic area with car parking and a wharf for you to fish off.
  5. thanks I have put them in a plastic container and will get a good one that clip locks.
  6. I started using plastics, opened up a packet of pumpkinseed plastics. Now found that the smell has gone through everything all I did was closed the zip closer. What do others do too stop the smell from coming out of the packet.

    EPIRB

Your EPIRB is registered to the previous boat owner if he did the right thing by replacing the battery and using it in your 4wheel when you get into trouble and go to use it Canberra will ring his information to tell people that you are in trouble. When you buy an EPIRB you must register it with Canberra, get a new one by using it you will only cause havoc it.
  8. Great idea what are fitting on the end to the hose, got it to be 2 way ez dial tap adapter but what are other 2 fittings thanks norm
  9. Thanks for the replies. I have a jig that I tie my loop knots, also have Alvey reels and can see why you would you swivels.
  10. I have a Caribbean Crest Cutter 1977 model which I love however the original steering became very tight and the Etec had to go into for its 3yrs service. The steering would only go full one way and just the other way. The cost of hydraulic steering was about $1200, the new steering don't know what it is called cost $252.00. It went through the motor bracket and works great the original steering like yours went onto the pivoted. They replace the steering wheel as well which cost about $50 all up with the service, parts and labour cost $1082. I am yet to try the steering out however just moving the motor around feels great.
  11. Going to Durras Lakes for 2 weeks, staying caravan park that one side is the beach and the other is the lake. I have everything for the lake for flathead ok it is the beach that I need some advice. My gear is 12ft rod (several), Alvey reels and large spinning reels. I bought a paternoster rig for whiting which has loop knots, my questions looking at surf rigs they use a 3way swivel which is the better to use. Target fish is whiting and bream. thanks norm
  12. This is all explained when you do the VHF course. Do the course, it is different to 27megs. You are using a radio that is use for commercial use that is why you do the course.
  13. I take my grandson (9 and 10yrs old) out fishing, I target leatherjackets in Cowan Creek, yes they are a pest to some fisherman however you can keep them what ever size we our own size limit on. The boys love eating them. I use squid tubes cut into strips and a small piece put on a #8 long shank hook, what I want to know does anyone know how to toughen the squid tubes. I marinate them in garlic and aniseed with salt and I need them harder. The leatherjack get to the bait before it hit the bottom. The rig I use is a paternoster and they catch 2 at time and think it is great fun also they catch bream our next challenge is flathead.
  14. I went prawning The Entrance in Dec not many prawns around .
  15. I was at The Entrance about 2 yrs late in the afternoon waiting to go prawning and the Fisheries came on and a guy was fishing and keeping small fish, I did not say anything as I seen the Fisheries coming along and checking. When they spoke to and put him on a warning I then ask what had happened did they fine him, he said just a warning, I asked do you know the size limit he said he didn't worrying about it so he told me to P#### Off. I said it was people like him who it hard for genuine people who do the right thing as the Fisheries are only doing their job. Sometimes you just cant win with people.
  16. Does anybody know if Durras Lake is open to the sea? thinking of going prawning in the New Year.
  17. It starts off as a small fee then it will increase, Mark seems to know what he is talking about. I will wait and see.
  18. Steve my hunting mate has had a triple bypass, prostate removed and both knee replaced we have an agreement if he shoots a deer and he has a heart attack what do I do with the deer. Well we looked at it this way someone will pinch the deer so I cart the deer out and then call 000. What arrangements do you have with Gavin when you have all those blackfish, I could look after them.
  19. All those cords on your chest they stick on like hell. When I got into the ambulance they put about 15 on, then in emergency they took them off (ouch) and put there 15 on, then in the ward they did the same. What gave me the sh*****ts was asking for a pan so after the second day they gave me a mobile monitor so I could go myself. Nothing like holding a pee on. You look like an octopus had got you. What I found after it all the walking was a lot better which I did not release before as it came on gradual.
  20. I was thinking of ringing you and coming up to The Entrance however the wife has had medical problems (ladies). I had 2 stents in 2014 went away to Hawkes Nest kayaking , we have 2 sea kayaks and the wife said I was slow and what a great paddlers she was as she had beaten an ex Commando. Loaded the kayaks onto the 4wd and got back to camp felt a bit sick and next day said lets go home not feeling the best. One week latter about 11pm Friday night was not feeling the best rang 000 and they sent an ambulance, in hospital overnight and sent home, one week later walking around the back yard with the terrific pain in the chest, went inside and told the wife ( who is an ex nurse) she tried to take my pulse which was not there straight away rang the 000 ambulance came. Rushed to Penrith hospital with lights and sirens with the wife in the front seat, she thought it was terrific in and out of traffic. The nurse in the ambulance was asking are you ok. Rushed in 2 stents latter and four days in hospital, when I came home did the repat and have not felt better. Now I was fit and do not smoke or drink did not have the tingle in the arm, but nausea and terrific pain. Get well Steve and leave some luderick for me as I have not tried that rod I bought last session.
