  1. Hello Tommy, Where do you launch your boat for the hawkesbury? Dont worry about your boat being old I have a Caribeen Crest Cutter that is about 39yrs old and would not swap it all. I fish the hawkesbury all the time. Will be away this weekend pm if you need help on areas to fish in the Hawkesbury.
  2. Donna I put up my hand first however I don't have your chair. Do I get a pack of plastics if so I will pick it up at the Hairtail session.
  3. what does your wife think of putting them in the freezer or do you have your own freezer. I make a brew of tuna oil, chicken pellets and pilchard mashed (old left over ones) or cheap cat food. Looking at the process they are in plastic bags does this stop the odour?
  4. Thanks for a great day Stu and Donna, spoke to Hawkebass about his rig for blackfish and called into a tackle shop to get the necessary items for the rig he has cant wait to try it out.
  5. After waiting 5 days for a reply from Marine Rescue HQ, I rang and got onto their IT person. We spent about 1/2 hour trying to get the app to work. I could fill out the profile and log onto the Marine Rescue but the weather and tides would not work. Then got the weather to work and tides would not, switched phone off, reinstall the app again and no luck everything working but not the tides. I don't fish outside only once in 5 yrs and only on the local reefs, I have a vhf and licence so I am covered and can log on.I think that using the radio would be better as a close by boat could give assistance.(this is what was recommended on the VHF course). The IT person was very helpful and said if I do get it working to let him know what I had done, he was quite helpful and pleasant to deal with.
  6. Need some more help emailed and rang Marine Rescue at their HQ and was told a IT person would get back that was 3 days ago. I have the app on my phone Telstra HTC Desire 510, I have put all of my info in to log on when I go to look at the weather and tide info if says Unfortunately, Marine Rescue has stopped Then has report and OK. If you press OK it takes you back to Log on with MRNSW. Thanks norm
  7. This could also relate to Berowra Ramp when the locals coming and leave their boat at the ramp and talk to their neighbors Just returned yesterday late afternoon around school time when parents picking up and bad luck boats everywhere, however get the boat out and then the school bus decides to come around and missed my boat by 6"as we unloaded. So I have invested in 20 chairs at 10 Bellambi and 10 Berowra FishRaider members half price and public full price don't know what to charge. Recurve you have made my day a great write up
  8. thanks for the replies, I did go to profile in the end and found you could edit your info.
  9. I have just put Marine Rescue app on my android phone got all the way to the contact number for contact and the phone cut out. Now all I can get is log on to Marine Rescue and this info is only half done. Does it have a edit information key. Contacted Marine Rescue and still waiting for reply. Looking for help it will be quicker. thanks norm
  10. If you don't catch fish you could have this on bread for your lunch. When I was a little boy (about 65yrs ago) and lived at The Entrance, Mum worked in the guest houses that use to be there. One of the chefs made up a pudding bait for me to fish off the old wooden bridge. It was flour made into a dough and kraft cheddar cheese (the one in the blue box) and cotton wool stripped through it and I caught heap of mullet with this. BTW I had an oyster bottle with the line wrap around and sinkers and match sticks in the bottle that was my fishing gear circa 1952, caught far more fish with this then now with my boat and the gear I have now.
  11. Stapo looking forward to next season in sept. The new nets are done, will pm you about the other in may.
  12. Yes tried the lot, forget about paddling with oars or paddles if there is a current. Changed plugs and pulled started motors, looked at and disconnected batteries.
  13. I would like to thank Stapo (Steve), Huy (gonefishinginoz) and Marvin for their help in prawning the last couple of months. The gear to take - Prawn Punt (that what I call it ), I made it from photo on site. I bought a net from the large boating shop and my next visit Marvin made a better and gave it to me The group that prawned together I was invited into which made it safer than on my own. Making waterproof torches. General all round advice. Also how the prawn bucket got filled up magically when I was loading my gear into the car I am sure there was only some covering the bottom of the bucket. If you are a visitor or a newbie to this site this is what Fishraider is about. Thanks again Steve,Huy and Marvin. Regards Norm.
  14. Fab 1 thanks for the info on buying a used trailer. Later on I want to buy a 2nd caravan about 10yrs old so the info about wheels and rust is what I need. I had a boat trailer that was old and repaired and repaired and in the end bought a new trailer. So info will be used to check the trailer part of the caravan.
  15. I was told by a trout fisherman down the Snowy to wear a belt so if you fall you have a chance they, fill up with water and that's he problem
  16. That current in the channel when the tide is going can be severe, they would swept out very quickly. This why Huy and Marvin were calling out to each other. I hope they are found and everything is OK.
  17. I have a 90hp ETEC on my boat 5.2 and it trolls OK for me, I would rather have the quiet and economical running than worrying about trolling. I had 90 and 115 two stroke and the ETEC is great.
  18. The components inside have not changed I think, it is only the spool and what it is made of.
  19. Just went onto the Alvey Reel sight and if you go to spare parts you can download PDF file on the 55c5 which may help. My file come up with an error. If you have no luck with the diagram ask Alvey they are very helpful
  20. I have a 55c5 brochure with parts.I cant upload it so I will try pm you.
  21. I have a outboard shop manual Evinrude/johnson 48-235hp 1973-1990. It is yours as I now have a 90hp etec brand new for my 38yr old boat. I had the same problem as you with a Evinrude 90hp, I then was given a 115hp Johnson and still had problems, my brother in law is a retired marine engineer and in the end we could not find the problem if was overheating we change the thermostat and impeller and coils so we put it in for a service and they found a scratch cylinder we did not want to dig to deep.. The cost of the repair would have been in the 4k mark, it was an 82 115hp, I could have got a 15yr motor for about the same price. My lovely wife asked how much for a new motor they said 12k OK put it on. Now when I got revived from the floor, the service manager said the hull was in very good condition so it would be OK to replace motor as I was not throwing money away. I am retired and had my super and other money which helped a great deal. We spent about 1k on the 115hp and ran out of time as the brother in law had other commitments so that is why we got a service to see what was wrong as they deal with outboards all the time and could fine the problem faster than us of a weekend. You are quite welcome to the outboard shop manual, pm me if you want it. norm
  22. Congratulations Huy, can please pm the recipe for prawn cakes. I have had 3 sandwiches and still have prawns. Not like before!!! I have made the adjustments to my float that Marvin suggested, one of my homemade lights has a drop of water in it, maybe it came from the hole I made in the end for the wires forgot to seal the hole where the wire went into the end. It has not short circuited the bulb only fog it up so it is in the sun for the next two days to dry out. Thanks again Steve and Huy.
