  1. Kaneo, If you put what suburb instead of Sydney it would help other Fishraiders so if they were on the water maybe they could help. If you want to keep your area secret it is good to mention what area you are fishing. A lot of Fishraiders fish together and offer help. This is the best forum for fishing and no questions is silly we all started off as newbies. As you don't have a radio on board it makes hard to know if you are out fishing and what area you are in. This is my boat and it is rated for six people however I only take 3 mostly two.
  2. Thanks Steve picking up a 2013 Landcrusier Sahara before Xmas so it will be in the New Year love flathead. Have a great Xmas to all the fellas at The Entrance.
  3. Steve will be up in the New Year if I can in Jan however will be up each dark in Feb, Mar and April. Did not get to use that new rod are there any luderick around. Will sms you my dark dates so you can check!!! ................Norm
  4. OK, going down to Merimbula in the New Year for a couple of days, looked at prawning near Merimbula and Wallagoot Lake came up. It is a landlocked lake old post say and there is prawning, has the lake broken through as these are old post of about 2-3yrs ago. (Steve I haven't forgot about The Entrance as I will be there after the New Year.) thanks norm.
  5. Will be up soon or maybe next month.
  6. Steve, Traveling around the Nth Coast called into Tea Gardens for about 4days and looked at the local tackle shop he had weed in plastic bags and selling it for $5 each and said they last for about a week (just keep it in the fridge,he had them in the fridge) and he gets fresh weed each week. He said that he sells quite a lot and has it all year round. I go to Tea Gardens and Hawkes Nest quite often so will give it a try, hope it is true that it keeps OK. At present at Hat Head and watching 4 blokes fish the Koronooga Creek for blackfish using artificial weed flies with no burley and catching quite a few.Don't have any fishing gear with me
  7. Wellzy94, If you go to the wall you will meet some nice fisherman and all the help you can get. Steve, I am heading up the coast as far as Sth West Rocks for about 3 weeks. The wife's mother passed away age 94 last fortnight so we are heading off for a break, are the blackfish still on as I would like to try the new rod out. Will be there in Sept for the prawns. Make sure you look after Wellzy 94 like you did me.
  8. Hell Teddy Bear, If I found you stranded, I would tow you back to the ramp. I would look in your boat and If I found sounders, radio and other equipment connected to one battery and this was your crank battery, I would not too happy don't forget the skipper is responsible for the safety of his boat.
  9. I flush my 90 ETEC using ear muffs with salt away and when it starts come through the exhaust I then turn off the water and leave a residue of salt away in the motor. I then wash the trailer with the rest of the salt away and leave it on the trailer.
  10. The other thing in the video was a pilchard with the head cut off and a treble hook on a trace threaded though to the tail and attached to a swivel clip to the main line
  11. I was looking on youtube for hairtail and found this. They are fishing in Newcastle Harbor and look to be doing quite well has anyone thought of this idea jigging for them with a lure. It was late afternoon and evening. Would save a lot on pilchards. Whats is the lure, I don't fish with this type of lure. Just an idea to get $500 next year with very little outlay, if you think I am paddling my kayak to save on fuel forget it norm
  12. I think just being in the social was part of the fun. I want to know who owns the boat about 4.5m with the red/brown canopy ? I notice you had your rods rig with a small red and yellow float and I forgot to ask who it was and where did you get the floats? I love floats and have a mad collection of blackfish floats hand made, I fish with my grandsons using floats and I think yours would be idea. thanks norm
  13. Thanks for a great weekend. Mark you will get one, leave Mel at home. Harold I had a ball, we sorted the idiots outs in the afternoon. The behavior of Fishraider was great no one got cranky because of no sleep and the spirit of Fishraider is there to stay. It just shows people you meet on the internet are not axe murders just good friends when they all meet and to include the kids was great, Donna and Stewie the look on their faces when they won $20 was great. thanks norm
  14. Hello Rab, welcome to forum. I am sure someone will help you as Donna says just ask. There are no silly questions we all started out not knowing.
  15. I have a good feeling for the weekend, woke up to -1 Richmond. So 3 or 6 degrees will feel like summer.
  16. Will be up at The Entrance in about 2 weeks. The patrol is finished today with new windscreen. The caravan got clipped when I put it in the storage place so it is in getting a nuisance repair done. When I lived there in 1948 they were going to blast the entrance to the sea and put in a break-wall and it was put off because there was a hospital at Nth Entrance (it is now gone) that had shell shock patients from the 2nd WW and it never happened. The sand will come back as I think it can't get past the reef that is opposite the entrance. I can remember under the old wooden bridge it was 20ft deep in the the 50s, just in front of where you get the blackfish there a step in the channel and we got a lot of fish there in a clinker rowboat. Gee this makes me feel so old. The blackfish tasted great and can't wait for the prawns imagine entree of prawns then blackfish and chips !!!!!!!
  17. I have all my gear packed repacked, repacked and I think I have what I want. My chicken pellets are ready for my secret burley too Stew. Why is it that you must take alcohol when you go fishing sorry but if you go over board not only is it cold but there are bull sharks in Jerusalem Bay and every one will be putting Tuna oil in their burley. Just got to work out the food, got alot of warm clothes. Very disappointed with Amkr went out and bought a boat and the sleeps in a houseboat, we gave him all the good advice about buying a boat. LOL looking for a great weekend. norm
  18. If I was hiring a houseboat, I would wait for the Hairtail outing which is in two weeks. You will be able to get good advice from other fishos on where to go. From my experience of the Hawkesbury after rain with the debris is don't go. Don't forget any damage to the houseboat you pay and small logs can make a mess of props. The trouble is they are not all visible, I have had to repair my fiberglass hull after hitting a small log submerged. norm
  19. Hello boys, I have an Alvey blackfish reel Huy an I could not get out to where Steve and Tim were casting. I need practice too. I now have a 2500 reel with floating line which I can cast about 35m in the park next to my place, I haven't caught a fish yet I think I need more rain. This looks a great idea as I have about 6 Alvey reels and line twist can be a problem what is the weight of your sinker. See you soon my Patrol is having a major service and off the road for about 3weeks. norm
  20. Steve and The Entrance crew you must be mad. That wind coming off the lake would have blown you to New Zealand. I am waiting for some floating line ordered on the internet, I think it will be OK however could not find the brand you use Steve. (pm the site address thanks). My caravan is going in for warranty repair (the hot shower is not working the best) as soon as it is done I will be there. (getting old) I have weighed all of Tim's float and worked out they need a 10gm sinker and attached the sinker to the float (daughters swimming pool has had floats all over it). Purchasing a 2500 shimarno reel today to match the rod. I have filleted some of my fish and will smoke them next week, by the way when I was cleaning them the bl----dy pelicans got two. You said don't feed them there was eight watching me and one got behind me and when I bent down to pick up my knife that was it two gone. So every time I got a fish out of the net I accidentally put the hose on them to get them away from the table. I like fishing with Huy because he has the same problems as me not catching them like you and Tim.
  21. Had a great time. I have found a blackfish rod one piece Steve at the Store I was talking about his has the last so I can have it for $100. It is a Wilson however don't think it is a live fiber it is 10ft 6, I am looking at it tomorrow so what out next time. Will be practicing baiting the weed some material like weed (the wife does a lot knitting). I will have a look at getting the floating line.
  22. Got a message from Steve that the blackfish were on. Had the best two days fishing with a lot of help and advice from Steve and Tim. Over the two days I managed to land one and one broke off. Steve and Tim bagged out after about 2 hours and fished for pleasure, they catch and release their fish however Steve felt sorry and gave me his fish. This Entrance group of prawners and fisherman are a funny crowd. Huey turned up and made me feel at ease his lost a float caught about 2 fish which was what had happened to me. After Steve had fished he then gave me his rod and stood alongside and instructed me what to do I had a couple downs and one I got to take and lost him about 10ft from the edge. You could not ask for better advice than this, how to bait the weed, where the stopper should be and what hook size. Sorry no photos don't know how to download from phone Thanks to Steve and Tim.
