  1. Nice feed there, good to see narrabeen waking up. I fished pipeclay point for zilch yesterday which is rare, I have caught some big momma's there.
  2. Mate that is a seriously solid flattie! Especially in winter in poor conditions, great work. hope he was tasty?
  3. Thanks for the advise guys, I'll have to google the Russian flag!
  4. Thanks mate, Ill be in Kenya and Tanzania also so will have to check out Malindi.
  5. Hi all I am off next week to get married in Ireland and will be honeymooning in Africa. Can anyone recommend a fishing charter in Zanzibar? Some great websites but cant beat a recommendation. October will be YFT season and I hear they get solid GT's and dollies as well! cheers Paul P.S. She says I can buy a boat AFTER the wedding, should I remain hopeful?
  6. The new fireline exceed is very good.
  7. Great bag on light gear. I regularly fish berowra for flatties and have been very successful but not so much for bream. What technique/rig are you using? Cheers Paul
  8. Plenty of salmon busting up at the moment. Was out Saturday and never seen so many birds. Got a good mixed bag of jackets, trevally, snapper and flathead a mile or so up the coast. Also got some whopping huge rock cod. Water temp was 16dgrees. Hope this helps.
  9. Hey mate I run 30lb fins braid on mine without issue and have spooled 300 yards. The line lay is not great but not causing any dramas. Also nice to know that I can lock my drag if needed at 7kg and its close to one third breaking strain. ***EDIT*** I use mine for boat only, just read your post in full! cheers Paul
  10. Totally agree I always fish the 'feeder' side of the lake with great success have caught some lovely flathead up to 70cm. My advise is to park at middle creek reserve, don a backpack and wander up to the mouth of the river there are many good spots on the way for a flick.
  11. Use chicken pellets they will sink at the right rate just don't use too much or they won't eat your bait/plastic. Be warned heaps of tailor around so use a heavy ish leader 10lb plus.
  12. Hi mate If you berley up in middle harbour and flick around an 80mm wriggler on 1/16th you should get them. Couldn't escape them two weeks ago. Cheers Paul
  13. Wow I didn't realize I needed a head torch until I read this review. Will certainly help seeing those hairtail, thought I had a salmon until it was at my feet. Lol
  14. Ah so your the bream guy, I saw those horses a while back and thought they might have been photo shopped?! My small in comparison PB of 43cm attached.
  15. Oh and I find chicken thigh holds the hook much better and cheaper too. It let's them nibble without falling off. My mates dad owns a chicken farm we have tried every bit, the guts work well too as long as they are nice and smelly. Adding parmasen has not improved our catch rate either. Hope this helps
  16. 1. Burley with chicken pellets 2. Chicken unweighted on 6lb FC 3. Hang on Seriously since I changed to chicken 'float' baits I have tripled my catch. In saying that I still fish the right tide for the location. Eg. Rising tide anywhere near barnacles or fallen trees preferably on a deep bank. Good luck!
  17. Great report mate heart was racing reading it, maybe next time!
  18. Nice haul for a reasonably short session! I live in concord and an in the process of buying a boat, are you able to share some tips on parra river Jews? Have been a hawkesbury fisherman for years and new to the area. PM if you prefer, happy to share info. Thanks Paul
  19. There are some monster bream at the base of the main bridge pilon at high tide but expect to lose rigs on the barnacles. My PB went 43cm, swore it was a jew! A kayak and a hard body setup would go awesome there I reckon.
  20. You are the Roseville master! Trevs sure are thick in middle harbour at the moment.
  21. I landed an 82cm model there a few weeks a ago on 6lb fireline on my 3kg setup, however I couldn't stop this one it headed straight for the rocky bank and busted me up!
  22. Nice haul, We got a good few on Thursday night and also smoked by a king. Have to ask what is your method to set the hook on these hairtail? I lost twice as many as I caught, not sure how to hook them when you see the tell tale 'slow loading' of the rod tip. Very exciting catching something so unique, see ya out there!
  23. I switched to the fireline exceed in 6lb and so far so good. Caught an 82cm king on the regular 6lb fireline and the exceed is supposed to be even stronger! Gave up spending 40+ on sunline pe etc
  24. Hi Me and The boys at work will be heading down Friday night for a sat sesh. Thing is we had no idea there was a comp on till now! I'll be In a top ender with two mates, good luck! Cheers Paul
