  1. I have a trio 20 I use for spinning multiple times a week and I love it. Has a great drag system but need to keep it lubed up and serviced as it has dried up a couple of times and gotten rough. I am pretty tough on it though!
  2. Mate we have all been there, however I think your bad luck was worthwhile just for our entertainment on your report! Great read, very funny. I reckon some chicken could have assisted the bite.....
  3. Thanks for the info everyone, guess I'll have to keep returnining to "monitor" the tides frequently.
  4. Hi all I have a great spot in Narrabrrn lake that only fishes well at high tide. Problem is the tide never seems to align with the beach tide times and have missed it several times. Can anyone shed some light on the relationship between high tide at the beach and the lake? Have searched for an individual lake tide but can only find the beach. Cheers Paul
  5. That's a long Tom, good eating but too many bones. Sure beats workin!
  6. I would go the drop shot or even a budget silstar, very happy with both for this purpose.
  7. Awesome rig mate, see you on the Hawkesbuy!
  8. I find if you bleed them instantly AND cut out the blood meat out you can get some huge fillets that are tasty when crumbed and shallow fried.
  9. Hi all In an effort to meet like minded people and ultimately get out and learn more I have decided to join a fishing club. As it turns out the Amateur fishing association of NSW is down the road in Concord! Is anyone here a member? Would anyone like to become a member? I'll be popping down tomorrow to check it out. Cheers Paul
  10. Love it when a plan comes together!
  11. Thanks for the info Tom I'm always happy to learn a new technique, especially if It works!
  12. Were you using these rigs baited or unbaited?
  13. Shhh don't tell anyone! Awesome flatties mate, where did you get the livies? Cheers Paul
  14. Agree but yes I manually the bail. Also found trimming the tags on the double uni as tight as possible a big help. Was worried they may work loose but so far so good.
  15. Hair tail feed vertically so I would aim for around two meters off bottom and use a decent trace for those chompers!
  16. Had the same problem with sunline pe and wind knots, and they are some expensive birds nests!
  17. I fish flatties A lot and have tried most of the braids available. I don't think any are "poor" but for the money you simply cant go past 6lb fireline. It's cheap, casts a mile and breaks well over the test. I use 14lb vanish leader for flatties and 6lb for bream. Hope this helps
  18. Mate that is an awesome haul for a day out.
  19. thanks SQUIDIN those servo prawns *cough* work wonders.
  20. Agree with you all the fish are getting posh with the parmie and the garlic and the like. Seriously though i think fishos over the years have remained smug in the fact that everyone thought they were mad using chicken. Unfortunately I think the gig is up and it is becoming mainstream now. Maybe some more runours are required for it to remain under the cloak of madness?!
  21. Tony I read this post in a meeting today and almost had a fit, very funny! Agree with every word you said, spirit if a true fisherman for sure. As for the Mrs it was more like "jaysus theres no fooking room in the bleedin' fridge for that!" I was like "Vegies have to go babe, put her next to the flatty above the beer". Its all about priorities! I think this thread has coined the phrase: "pass the parmie" instant classic!
  22. Tasty feed there, we may have to compare notes!
  23. Surely was a beautiful (tasty) fish! Thanks nibbles may need some help with the Roseville Jews of your keen?
  24. That's a good haul, you gotta be happy with that? I work with a few Greeks and your post explains a lot!
