  2. Nice greenback. They love the simple old halco's
  3. I'm thinking spell check kicked in there & where should was said is supposed to be shouldn't The term battery these days is pretty broad as there are so many types like the old lead acid, AGM, gel, lithium etc. They all have to be treated specifically to there type in drain & how they are charged.
  4. Nice report & the food looks delicious as well 👌 Well done If you hadn't have said Sydney harbour in the title by the look of the background in the 4th pic you could have been in the Georges or even port hacking, looks very similar.
  5. Yes @rickmarlin62 That is how you tag someone in the forum
  6. The information is in the numbers on the back! Alvey Model 500/A3 If you want to take the time to read through this thread you might get to know & understand some of the Alvey history. https://www.fishraider.com.au/topic/90241-show-us-your-alveys-aussie-to-the-bones-proud-of-it/?tab=comments#comment-666313

  8. If you had read through the entire thread you would know that is not the right reel!
  9. There are online calculators that will work this out for you but can't answer that myself without looking up the equation. But I will guesstimate that that running all that at the same time with a 18ah battery it isnt going to last very long. My battery for just the sounder us 20ah. The thing to consider as well is standard lead acid batteries should not be drained to far constantly as this will shorten their life where as deep cycle batteries like AGM's are designed to be high drain. It is also better to keep them in a charged state as well.
  10. Any knot tied where the actual line breaks/fails before the knot will do me. And the FG does that for me, plus it runs through the guides nicely. I'm willing to give the GT joining the double a go for sure over an Albright. I think we all individually choose knots that suit us it their ease of tieing & purpose for situation
  11. Sounds like you have a dream job mate, lucky you as it's a rare thing! If you do have an E-tag it's still worth registering for the cash back scheme imo. There is no sums to do, if you ever travel on the M5 you just pay the GST only after the claim. Not sure about the cost or claim of a trailer though?
  12. I will PM you shortly 👍
  13. Thanks Frank, I appreciate that. This was a kit & it cost $14 so for me it was easy & not having fabricate the slide parts etc make it a good buy. I know the though of making something from scratch is great but sometimes buying a prefab part if just a move viable option, not in all ways of course. I have put some pictures of mods on my tinny before, some I think were in one of your threads I believe. Basically this tinny was my fathers which he handed down to me. Its a 1969 Quintrex Sportsman & its still going strong today. I would really like to repaint it but unfortunately I don't have a space I can do living in a 1BDR apartment which is a real bummer. But one day I will make it happen
  14. Wow, that is a b^%@h of a trip to do every day, twice! I agree the toll roads are like car parks a lot of the time depending on the time of day you need to travel. I know I have jumped off at times when there is a hold up thinking I will save time & travel the back roads just to be caught up on the back roads because everyone else is doing the same thing. I hope at least your registered for the M5 cash back? Ever though about public transport? There are express services at certain times & it cuts down on the road rage as well! I hate driving in Sydney & avoid it as much as possible.
  15. Sure, that's what we are here for 👌
  16. I just set up my transducer for the unit like this
  17. So I ended up finally getting my new transom sliding mount in the mail & finished getting it installed yesterday. I incorporated my existing spray guard, just had to drill a couple of new holes in it & cut some of the base off & also drill through the alloy plate, line it all up etc. I was also able to use one of the two existing drill holes from the old transducer, the other hole I used some JB weld on the outside plus some on the inside with a small plate over the back of the hole, hopefully its all water tight? I know we are still in partial covid lockdown but I think for my mental exercise I might have to go for a fish on Monday to test it all out?
  18. I wont get into a tussle about if who should pay for Toll roads to be built & how the money is recouped as it would take a 3 years debate into the hole shemozzle & there would still be no outcome. BUT if we didn't have Toll roads then all that heavy vehicle & motor traffic would still be coming through your suburb, I don't think anyone would want that. If you want to go the long way well then chew more fuel, take more time, that's your choice. Not really sure about that, we are still paying the harbour bridge toll even though we have paid for the build cost about X2 now, not only that the they are getting you to keep paying the toll for the tunnel build & they are still charging you toll on the tunnel. Then just when we had paid for the M4 & they took the Toll away they soon after decided it needed another lane(go figure ) then started to Toll again to pay for that plus all the other stuff going. Governments have little foresight, otherwise they would have built these the size that will need 10 years down the track but instead we spend nearly double the amount of the original builds just to add 1 lane which will then still not have enough capacity to meet demand.
  19. Nice work Pickles, they are bloody fussy b*&^%$#s 🤣
  20. @Belligero there are a quite a few options, it really comes down to what suits you & how much you want to spend. It can be a full wheel bracket with stud bolts like these- They can vary from $60 to $150 These types are the more exy versions. Or it can be as simple as a $10 ubolt like this I went with the cheap & simple $10 U bolt & placed the spare flat on the trailer between the winch past & the bow, I had to some adjusting on mine as my jockey wheel is also behind the winch post on the boat side but I made it fit & it works. I just use a thick bicycle cable lock wrapped around my spokes & the trailer as I didn't have any spare chain, but regardless of what you use if someone wants to steel it they will. All these can be found via google from most boat spare retailers. If you want or need some links just PM me & I will send them through. Good luck & happy fishing
