  1. Thanks Derek, has to be the easiest method I have seen for tying a bowline & I really like the loop over the slip knot as a stopper. Great vid & gave her a thumbs up on YT.
  2. I'm sure it will be perfect for me, even though there is no memory card slot you can still input waypoints which I didn't know it was capable of. You would just need to work out where & hiw to mount & where to hold the battery.
  3. Welcome aboard. They are definitely a good thing to have, even in the bays/inshore. I bought the same unit about 6 weeks ago for my tinny to replace my old hummingbird 160 portable which was a basic grey scale & no GPS plotter so this is an upgrade for me. I just installed the transducer today so then things get better I will be testing it out. For me it was a bit easier as I just swapped out my hummingbird unit & screwed this new one into the portable housing which has a case & battery in it. For inshore with the features it has it will do me.
  4. Looks like some nice progress going on there Frank
  5. I think its totally doable & your idea is pretty sound & worth a go. Forget about the araldite imo unless its all you have & don't want to spend money on anything else but imo you would be better with something like JB weld or Devcon plastic steel. With these the join will actually be stronger than the rod, so it wont be a week point! Use either on the metal insert then an approx. 2mm layer around the join & about 5 to 7mm either side of the join.
  6. Well done on the PB, looks like the perfect size for the family table
  7. I particularly like the idea of how the GT knot attaches to the double 👌 Ill be practicing that one!
  8. It should still catch fish so if you bought it all for a reasonable price it won't take long to recoup your money.
  9. Interesting Derek. There is also the PR knot which I have recently come across. Be interested to see some test ratings on that one as well.
  10. Its unusual to come up zero on google for anything but I cant find anything on it either Leads me to believe it would be a very cheap/early reel, but if it works then use it. Obviously no idea about specs like drag rate etc. May have been produced under another brand & rebadged?
  11. Hi @Blade welcome to the forum. Rather than asking for everyone's secret spots how about doing a forum search & looking at some past fishing reports thread & looking in fishing chats about possible locations within port hacking. There is a lot of information within these pages by just doing a bit of searching & your own background work. No offence but why are people going to just give up to you what has taken them years of trial & error & learning for themselves! The other method would be to just get out there & having a crack! Good luck. https://www.fishraider.com.au/search/?&q=Port hacking&search_and_or=or
  12. Well I guess I am used to fishing out of a boat so I am fishing for different things at the same time. Sure you run the risk of picking up a big king on the lighter set up buy I guess being in a boat I can move it into clear/deeper water but if you just have one rod then I would go heavier, especially on a pier. Your set up(with a heavier leader than 17lb) will probably be ok for rat kings but get something like a 80cm+ model on & it will sort you out quick time, get a 1mtr king & it still might dust you on 50lb braid & 60lb leader! If your fishing around structure for kings up the leader otherwise 9 out of 10 times you wont land them imo. Double snell for live squid yes as it will still swim freely, double on a live yakka & it wont swim well or look natural to the king.
  13. If I was specifically targeting kings then I would be using 2 set ups, one with 20 or 30lb braid with about the same leader, maybe 40lb if there is a lot of structure & also a 50lb braid with 60lb leader. Suicide hook 5/0 or 6/0's minimum & just a single snelled hook place behind the head(in the shoulders) of the live yakka. If you were to catch some swuid as well it would increase the odds having 2 live baits, sometimes they will only take squid, sometimes only yakkas, sometimes neither & will hit SP's or stick baits so have a back a plan/tackle as well. I only use a double hook snell on squid or dead baits. Berley is always a good thing, a frozen log in a mesh bag tied to the pier is what I would do, the baitfish will come in & hopefully followed by the kings. So you could have 2 rods out, one in deep & one floating, obviously in different directions otherwise you will get a lot of crossover. Everyone will fish slightly differently but that would be my method. Good luck.
  14. Hearing all sorts of stories about people being booked all over the place for being where they shouldn't be. Mind you Im sitting on the fence on this one, I think going for a Tinder date might be classes as essential travel for a bloke 🤣
  15. Not what you really want to see from a town/region that relies heavily on tourism/holiday income to survive. But then the whole country is in the same boat. Anyway it certainly does look like the message about the Easter weekend/school holidays hasn't fallen on deaf ears!
  16. At $15, worth a shot for sure 👌
  17. Your not getting the point here! Saying I know something but not directing the person to the right place does not help anyone! @Rebel I will try to help you work this out. If you need to provide a link it is quite easy & perhaps I can help you through it? If your on the webpage of the information you want to provide highlight the web address by clicking the left side of the mouse & holding the cursor in front of the last letter or behind first letter then drag the cursor over the web whole address, it should turn blue. When its highlighted right click on the mouse & it will come up cut/copy/undo/select. Select copy, then in your post right click on the mouse & select paste. The address bar of the website will then paste into the thread & provide the right info for the member 😊 The same process can be done if your sending an email to someone as well, it is also just the same as any copy & paste method, in this case you are copy & pasting the URL or web address. Here is a tutorial for you to look at- Just spend a bit of time practicing it & let me know how you go. Hope that helps you?
  18. It doesn't state 30km anywhere, ask the police what is local, they are enforcing or interpreting the order, its up to their discretion……………...or just roll the dice 😉
  19. Rebel, It might assist more is you can provide the right information over just a fleeting comment, otherwise its not really helping! Just my 2 cents.
  20. To cute Zoran 👌 I saw one of these mini Pomeranians the other day, I want one but I think if it came near my mouth while I was sleeping I would inhale it 🤣 Saw this cartoon on FB today, thought it was humorous
  21. Apart from the registered owners of vehicles being fined while in carparks I am sure NSW water police will be out in force during this week as well doing compliance check & asking to see your licence to ascertain your residential address. So inevitably you could expect to cop multiple fines on the one outing if your flouting the laws & directions of the NSW government over Easter! So don't be so quick to judge that its gutless by the police to fine just the parked vehicle owner! I have no doubt if they find many out of town vehicle in the car park they will be calling the local WP to do a sweep of the area, double demerits, quadruple whami!
  22. I would ring the NSW police & ask what there definition is of 'local'! Could be the same postcode, could be the police local command area or region? The underlying message is- https://preview.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/staying-home https://www.facebook.com/nswpoliceforce/ https://www.police.nsw.gov.au/home
  23. That's just it, how do you know where they came from? Hopefully the police are doing what they have been instructed to! The thing is according to the nsw government they have a right to be there, its how many all want to do it at the same time that is going to create the issue!
  24. I have a couple of pair of SS pliers & they have both rusted but they are still going. Have to keep the WD/oil up to them. When they finally bite the dust I want to get something like this And also I think some cheap grabbers like this paired with the above would do me when the others seize up
  25. So no one here realises we are in the middle of a pandemic & your not supposed to be travelling outside of your local area 🙄
