  1. Thanks Witha, Will keep the creek for dawn fishing I think then. Have never used a jig spinner before. Will give anything a go though. Thanks for the tips. Cheers Tara
  2. Thanks Big Neil, Heading to the Brew shop on Saturday, need to decide on top or door mounted taps. Might just have to have a flick in the Shoalhaven on the way back too. Cheers Tara
  3. G'day Raiders, My folks just bought a property down in Berry and Broughton Mill Creek runs through it. I Know its freshwater and looks potentially fishy. Has anyone fished the area? Could the creek be to "small" to hold fish? It is quite narrow only a couple of metres wide and in some areas its only ankle deep and some way to deep to walk through with very minimal access that isn't going to land me in the drink with all my gear. I have done a fairly extensive internet search and cant find much info. Id like to fish walking distance from my folks place as ill be installing the beer kegs very soon. Ha Ha Had a bit of an explore with the kids the other weekend but was hard going with 3 year olds. Had a flick with a 2" grub early morning for nothing. My casting needs some serious attention when it comes to these very snaggy tree lined areas though. Should I not waste my time in this kind of area and just head to the Shoalhaven river? Any ideas or info would be fantastic. Cheers Tara
  4. That is very Fricken' cool. Cheers Tara
  5. Nice couple of flatties there. Shame about the leader. Cheers Tara
  6. G'day Raiders, I was lucky enough to get out 3 times over the weekend for only 2 undersize bream. Started on Thursday morning for a quick fish while waiting for the dog to get some test done at the vet. Not much happening though. Only a few bites and 1 dropped. On Saturday we needed to keep the kids entertained for a couple of hours so went for a drive to check out the bait n go machine at the motor boat club. Pretty impressive and I went with the glow worms and prawns. Back to the cooks as it’s nice and close to home. Put out a worm and a prawn for the kids but there wasn't much happening and very hard to keep 3 year old twins interested with no nibbles. They had a lot of fun feeding "Big Bad Barry" the massive eel? That lives under the pontoon. This thing is huge and has scared the crap out of me a few times by poking his head out of the water. He ate close to a whole loaf of bread. But no fish caught for the hour and a half that we were there. The Kids were off to Luna Park yesterday with their cousins so it was a perfect time to soak a few more worms and prawn from Saturday. Was a very slow start but as the tide turned to run in the bites started. The prawns were the go as the worms were just getting ripped off too easily. Got smoked on what I’m assuming was a Jew cause this thing was GOING. Lost the hook after about a 20 second struggle. There was heaps of fish cruising around saw a pair of either small Jews or massive bream or maybe trevs cruise past about 1.5m from the shore, just off the rocks. The bite was very constant but was struggling to hook up. By 11.30 it was getting way too hot in the sun so packed it in. Ended up with 2 under size bream at about 20cm. There were 2 undersize flatty’s at about 25cm dead. 1 on the rocks and 1 just in the water and a small sting ray about 20cm across on the rocks also. A heaps of rubbish laying around and chicken bones everywhere. Always disappointing to see fish washed up or just left there but worse to see all the rubbish laying around. All in all was great to get out in the beaut weather and enjoy the long weekend. Sorry for the novel. Cheers Tara
  7. I am a gun on the vibraslap. Also have been playing acoustic guitar since I was about 9 years old. Kids and life gets in the way and very rarely pick it up any more. But reading all this might be the inspiration I need to get back into it. Cheers Tara
  8. Love the pics. Some good looking fish there. Cheers Rah
  9. Ha Ha no I didn't. But I guess that was the upset I was thinking of. ha ha.
  10. Iv caught a couple of games when I have been home from work but not sure if they are replays or not. I think an upset is on the cards for sure, but I think USA and brazil will be up there at the end.
  11. Thanks mate. Will give that a go. You will be sure to hear if I do land one. haha Cheers
  12. Thanks Swordy, I was hoping so. Ill be back there to get him. Ha ha. But do I have any chance with my set up? I have never targeted or even really thought about catching a jew before. Would tightening up the drag and just putting a lot more pressure on have given me more of a chance? Cheers Rah
  13. G'day, Hoping I can get some thoughts on what might have smoked me, Went for a quick fish at Tempe yesterday, started at the pontoon for nought so moved round the corner closer to the airport where the Alexandria canal joins the cooks when I got absolutely smoked by something bigger than usual. I wasn't really paying too much attention when all of a sudden line starts peeling off going left of where I was standing. This fish knew where it was going to get me snagged. There were some big head shakes and there was no stopping him with my 2500 reel and 8lb braid with 12lb leader. Any thoughts on what this might have been? A bigger than iv come across flatty? or maybe even a small jewie? Managed to snap the line at the double uni and went for another try but just kept on getting snagged. Might try the same spot again at low tide so I can maybe get past the rock covered oysters to try to minimise the snags. Cheers Rah
  14. Cracking 3 days. A lot of fish caught. Well done.
  15. Definitely not a turtle. ha ha Had a big round head, long body and brown splotchy colouring. That's all I could see while S&%$$ing myself.
  16. Thanks Everyone. Also had an unknown fish come up from underneath the pontoon stick its head almost out of the water like it wanted me to give it a pat. Scared the absolute crap out of me and was gone before I could recover and get a snap. Maybe an eel? any thoughts on this? Cheers Rah
  17. Thanks, I was as surprised as you are. haha
  18. Hey seasponge, I always go through the tail and am very interested in everyone else's thoughts on this. Cheers Rah
  19. G'day boys and girls, Had a few hours free last Thursday so went for a quick (3.5hours) fish at Tempe. Didn't feel like getting to stinkey so was only using bread. Was fairly quiet for the most part, not the usual pickers but some big bites out of no where. Landed 2 nice bream roughly 29cm and 32cm, and 1 nice flatty roughly 50cm being my PB and first legal one at that. Thanks for reading Cheers Rah
  20. Nice work Witha. Do you ever fish up past Earlwood on the cooks? I have never ventured up that far but always wonder if it would be worth while. Was a bit slow going at Tempe yesterday at lunch. Cheers Rah
  21. G'day Raiders, Tried my luck for the Pirtek challenge yesterday. Headed to the cooks for a really quick flick on my way to the shire for soccer with a few hits but no hook ups. Then off to Dolls Point at about 2pm for the run out of the tide with nothing but a small whiting. A lot of older fellows waist deep pumping for something but couldn't see what it was. Headed back to the cooks on the way home with some prawns and at about 5:15pm said to mum, I don't think we are going to get anything to enter AGAIN this year, and off goes the rod. Up comes a just under 28cm bream. That will do to enter. Finally. A great day even though there was only a few fish caught. I hope everyone else who entered caught a few more than me and that a few raiders can bring home some prizes. Cheers Rah
  22. Nice work Scratchie. I can't wait till my twins are old enough to take fishing. Cheers Rah
  23. Nice Witha. Ill hopefully have a fish at Tempe tomorrow.
  24. Ill be entering too. But will have to work around the first soccer match of the season unfortunately. I like that they have released the target species early this year. Good luck everyone.
