  2. Good one Zenman What size bait and hooks are you using? Keep it up the bigguns are around. An hour per pound as the wise ones say! Cheers inhlanzi

  5. What a magic day on the water. Thanks Pete! It was supposed to be a Jewie day but things just changed along the way. The biggest lesson I learned was to keep moving around with the weather and if you can't go for the one species properly go for another. It never ceases to amaze me the diversity that is available right here on our doorstep. We had four seasons in one. Amazing sunrise at West head, rain and squall off Barrnjoey, flat as a tac off Lion and boat turning wind at Brooklyn - even with a drogue. The Jewie spots were messed up by the wind and the tide so we just changed tactics and methods and were rewarded with two nice Kings. The first King was a wierd experience... chucked out the speculator and I saw the silver flash from what I was sure was a decent tailor ... the "tailor" just kept going harder and harder. Pete even came over and tightened up the drag a bit! to our supprise up comes a nice little bandit! The stinger hook was goooone and he kingy firmly hooked on the tow hook. What the hell happened there? anyway dinner in the Esky just after sunrise ... gotta love that. Much later in the day. Picture this - sitting back sipping on a cold beer just finished raining, water all calm and smooth and the texie takes a real good bow and the old 6500 starts singing ... just when you least expect it most. wooohooo Pete cleared the decks and drove us away from the rocks. I fought what ever it was carefully and slowly as we had no idea what it might be. When I spotted the big yellow tail fin I was stoked. A nice good fat king that went 70 to the fork. Netted, bled and iced ... carry on sipping cold beer! A nice fat King that went 70 to the fork in the tail! cheers inhlanzi
  6. Hey Katari Best thing to do is tie the two different knots with the same piece of line you are going to use and see which breaks first! I like the bimini on braid but a tight and well tied Aussie plait is VERY hard to beat on mono. In my experience the line beaks most on one of the singles of the double NOT sure why this is but for some reason in the water this happens. To overcome this I twist the double and use a hangman uni to finish it off to swivel or clip swivel. I have had no failures on main line with this method. Hope his is if some help cheers inhlanzi
  7. Hey VA Any of the above will be MORE than adequate! If you get done on any of them give up fishing! cheers inhlanzi

  10. Hey Netic Well done and informative thanks inhlanzi
  11. Great Session Ceph Don't you just love those Seafarers. I get to go out on one with Vagabond - stable and comfortable fishing platform. Good rod holders too!!! We had a big squid hammer a live yakka on the downrigger! Needless to say he hit the chopping board fast. good report cheers inhlanzi
  12. Hey Reef Rebel Take some comfort in the fact that they have been a lot harder to get this last week. You can see heaps of them on the sounder but they just don't want to have a go like they did a few weeks ago. Downrig yakkas have worked the best for me. cheers inhlanzi
  13. G'day Raiders Went to the harbour earlier in the week with Go Fish Pete and birthday boy Roffo. Got a good supply of yakka and headed for the usual spots XYZ - nothing! and and then spots PQR - nothing! and even DEF and ZIP!!!! we really tried hard and had great downrigged yakka all morning. Only hit was from 40 cm Tailor. We treid a drift or two and I managed a large leatherjacket on live yakka ! It was looking bleak and we headed home. Got to spot S and I looked at all the tasty jellybeans in the livie wells and said one last go boys. Hardly a few meters and smashy smashy and the texie had a good buckle and the 6500 starts to zzzzzzz. Nice clean clear deep water and up comes a beauty at 70cm to the fork! Now Go Fish Pete and I love Roffo cause he doesn't eat fish and he doesn't like coffee!!! So Kingey for dinner for us! We downrigged some more and picked up a smaller one at 64. The best fight from a small king in ages. He won his freedom and went back to fight another day. Back at the ramp by 2 and another hard but good day on the Harbour. Hope you enjoyed the Birthday Roffo! Headed out with vagabond and fisheypete today and tried a whole new approach. Went to spot w and looked for some yakka. Not much to be found so off to spot v . Vagabond and Fishypete quickley got a few in the livie well. Here it is - I just can't resist a free swimming speculator when fishing for livies so out went a nice jellybean. The boys got a few more in the well and then zap bang zzzzzzzzzzzz the free swimmer got smashed and up comes a nice 64.999999! kingey. Gees fisheries knows just what size to make the limit this year. Anyway a quick photo op and back to maul some other livie another day. Later we headed to a favourite haunt and anchored up. We had a great array of bait and rigs but sadly no Kings. Vagabond had a really good hit but it somehow it managed to get off. Called it quits at 4.30 and headed home. No kingie for dinner but a good, different and busy day on the amazing Harbour. Cheers inhlanzi
  14. Slinkey we were out there today and I can say that I am not at all surprised!! There are some real morons on the water. Driving way too fast and way too close to other boats. Small boats, big boats and yachts all included. Sad for the person and his family but hope the speeding idiots learn from it. Cheers inhlanzi
  15. Great fish Discovery. Is that a cookie cutter bite down near the tail? cheers inhlanzi

  19. Hey my03 Spend $50 t0 $60 more and get a Wilson Live fibre Texalium it will eat all the others for breakfast! cheers ihlanzi
  20. In my experience the bimini is stonger BUT you must make sue the lengths of each side of the double are equal. I tie a version of the bimini with the end sides twisted and therefore there can not be one longer side then the other. It gives the double more strength and more shock resistance. I then use a hangman uni to a swivel. If you can find a stronger or more reilable double to a swivel please let me know! Cheers inhlanzi
  21. hey laredo You use a "cats paw" knot to attach the swivel cheers inhlanzi
  22. Good stuff Roberta great report. gee it looks good up there... Give up your day job and start a fishing newspaper!! Cheers inhlanzi
