  1. Well done slinky and co Nothing like a bad start turning out good. Nice report. Looks like a good feed as well. Warning!!! You may be catching "Cephitis" (Symptoms: Throwing fishing reels and or parts thereof overboard ) cheers inhlanzi
  2. AAAAAAGh Gees mate sorry about that I will be entering aaa with 01010101 If you want some Kingeys head to the Harbour... there are some really good showings of other "things" on the sounder ! Cheers inhlanzi
  3. G'day Raiders Shot out very early this morning in the rain in search of some Kings on down riggers. Spot A was producing but it was very bumpy in the southerly so up bombs and off to spot B The idea was to test a Scotty ( 1050 with a fish bomb ) vs a Cannon ( with a round bomb Downrigger) and Squid vs Livies as bait. The Scotty picked up 4 of the 5 on fresh harbour squid. Biggest fish went to the Cannon and a livie. Reels were baitrunners a 4500 and a 6500. Thanks to a bloke at Balmoral who ever you are, who swopped us live yakkas for a few squid, we converted the squid into some nice dinner for tonight. Hope you did ok with the yakkas. We caught 5 fish and kept two. We had a really good time but had to pull the pin quite early. Another FANTASTIC morning on the Harbour! Cheers inhlanzi
  4. Hey Little Jewgaffer You are lucky to have a Grandad who is a fishing nut keep on looking after him. Great memories for you both. Hey Jewgaffer make sure the young fella gets all he info and the spots A to Z and the rigs then he can take us fishing when we are old timers. cheers inhlanzi

  6. This is something that can drive me nuts especially Jewfishing I have noticed the blokes in the Harbour fish right on op of each other...takes a bit of getting used to. I need ANCHOR Management!!!!! BUT Red and Roberta...are quite right - If you wouldn't like them doing it to you, don't do it to them!! cheers inhlanzi
  7. G'day Boban Now that is a fishing report...mouth open and drooling. Looks amazing! Lucky Buggers cheers inhlanzi
  8. I use Jinkai from 20 to 100 lb I like the way it ties ie knots It is a bit soft but have had lots of success on it. I make new leaders for every trip! When you pull the knots up make sure it is wet and do it slowly cheers inhlanzi
  9. Wow!!! Ha ha - But he Kingey figure is pure BS Any figures on slimey mack, yakka and aussie salmon? Oh yea and what about the by catch? cheers inhlanzi
  10. How many did you end up with?
  11. Yes Dan that was us You blokes were brave in that weather! It was good without the crowds When the storm came did you go home or did you go for more bait? cheers inhlanzi
  12. Mate the best advice is to get a marine sparky to do it for you. Cop the cost and get it done right the first time! As you say a fire at sea is not good... cheers inhlanzi
  13. G'day Raiders Headed out in the rain at 04h30 this morning to join my mates on another Harbour trip. On the way to the skippers place I thought we must be a bit nuts going out in this weather. Upon arriving at his house we all agreed we were all nuts and went anyway. To find Roseville almost empty was amazing. No hassles in launching. Now to his great credit my skipper had a plan. Livies, Squid and then Kings, coffee, sleep and home. After a very disappointing weekend in the Pittwater last weekend our hopes were high for this trip to the harbour. Livies were in good supply, no squid but so had to use frozen Hberry. Today was slower than two weeks ago but the livies did the trick. Very few boats about which was good. Pickers and Peckers took heaps of our squid. We picked up three kingies and two went back. We downrigged after loosing lots of our squid bait and much to my surprise and delight a big yakka got smashed and in came a keeper. Hats off to the skipper and his downrigging technique. We did a few more runs and got another fish. The Sky began to look very threatening and so we left and went for coffee and the a slow downrigg home. All in all a really good fishing day and a fun time on the water with great company cheers inhlanzi PS - Not much better than a fresh Kinge slab and a beer or two for dinner.
  14. What about a couple of hundred pound sea bass ???
  15. I don't profess to be much of a Kingey fisho so when you get over 25 fish in a morning session it tells you there is a BIG difference in the systems. Every week you will read a report of someone being smoked in the Harbour by Hoodlums - what does that say? There is lots of food for them in the Harbour. My Kingey ratio ( Harbour vs Pittwater ) is 20 to 1 this season. 20 being Harbour and 1 being Pittwater . Bear in mind I fish the Hawkesbury Pittwater much more than the Harbour. You very rarely see birds working in the Hawkesbury basin any more. That tells you the bait fish are not there and or the birds get a better feed from the trawlers or people tossing unused bait at the boat ramps. There are far less baitballs around than in the last 4-5 years. I have only caught a few salmon this season ( under 10 ) and not one frigate or bonito. I think this season is however very different to the normal season. I figure everything is about 2 months late. There have also been a lot of southerlies. All my Jewfishing buddies are down on catch numbers in the Hawkesbury this season. It may be just me but I think the fish are smarter as well ... see one of my reports about catching yakka. I have had a lot of baits taken just behind the hook ( especially small bronzies or hammers ). This year I have been catching many tiny tailor like 5 cm in the Cowan - that would mean they are breeding in the system - Possibly the Tailor are so dominant that they kill most of the other fish. The Hawkesbury has far less traffic than the Harbour but there are far less fish. WHY? It would be really interesting to have a "comp" say where one weekend one group fishes the Hawkesbury and the other fishes the Harbour. Then the following weekend they swop over and see which place produces more fish. ( Target say - Kingfish, Jewfish, Bream, Tailor, Flathead, Squid, Salmon, Snapper, Whiting, Eels, Sharks ) there would be experts in a particular species who could go hard for their species and see which place comes out on top. I think I know which place would win but by how much would be interesting. cheers inhlanzi
  16. G'day After some recent success in the Harbour in Kings we decided to put the same methods to test in the Hawkesbury and the Pittwater. The weather was really good, cloudy with a slight drissle and very little wind. We sounded out a few different spots and at some of them that looked likely we sent down some live yakka and squid. We only had one hit which I saw happen just under the boat when a smallish Kingie came up and very gently and quickley took the livie off the hook!! By lunch time we gave up on the Kings and went in search of bait for Jewies. We tracked down a school of BIG yakka. They are good fun on light gear. Pillie pieces and squid bits were the go. Soon had an esky full and proceeded to a run in (car park ) spot. Decided to set some livies and a few cut baits One of the livies takes a good short sharp run and then nothing. Decided to leave the bait and see if another hit would evnentuate. After a few mins I decided to retrieve the livie ... hang on somethng on the line here! After a tussle and some interesting landing techniques out came a nice crock of 90cm. My mate took this photo on his phone . After a great day out with good company and decent weather we packed up at about 3 and went home. Moral of the story - if you are after Kings go to the Harbour. Cheers inhlanzi
  17. Slinky you are fine mate BUT Ask yourself these deep questions Have you started taking showers with your rods yet? Is your dog named after a tackle company? Is there more bait in the freezer than food? Does your (more expensive than the boat) car stand in the road and your boat in the garage? Can your three year old tie a bimini? Does your wife complain about strange implements in the dishwasher? Do you have any friends that are not fishing buddies? I am sure there are more cheers inhlanzi
  18. Icky them and chuck them in an ice slurry. Fillet and debone Fry on a skillet add salt pepper and serve. I often serve fish to my mates with two or three different kinds of fish on the same plate. I ask which they enjoyed the most. Salmon doesn't come last often. cheers inhlanzi

  20. Do these new ones float? cheers inhlanzi
  21. Very nice Jewgaffer Well done to all on the day. Good way to blood the new boat. I knew it was just a matter of time. That is a very fat fish. I have had a fantastic weeks fishing hence this late reply. Did you get a length weight etc. Why I asked is because there is a bloke at Sydney Uni doing research on Mulloway and is looking for info on them. He doesn't want to know the "spot" where you caught it or the bait you used. They also want the head guts and gonads if you have them. Good pictures too. cheers inhlanzi
  22. No Pete its only after 20 trips and you still got nothing thats when you have to worry about the jinx!!
