To put things in perspective when I played golf(Haven't played for probably 8yrs or so). My membership was nearly $2500 alone.I have clubs worth about 4k.Go price consumers like golf balls(Good ones) they ain't cheap. Then you always usually have a feed and beer or dozen.(Not cheap either).I use to play 3-4 times a week 18holes and then go to work and put in 12hrs.
Watching YouTube,reading books,asking people's advice I reached a handicap of 3 self taught.
Maybe I need to ask Yowie how to catch bloody fish.😂😂

This is a horrible thread
The amount of dollars swordie has spent would have bought us new cars, a another house etc
I nagged for long enough (yes I did nag about this @Fab1) and he now makes his own soft plastics pretty much
He gets his moulds from the Ukraine sadly - there may be some issues getting anything out of there now
Here is his post on making soft plasticsI knew it!

Here’s my experience over last 3yrs:
1999 merc 200hp EFI - advertised on gumtree and eBay. sold on eBay for $5999 (I factored the eBay fee in my price so net was the same). payment no risk, upfront and handled by eBay.
1998 mariner 15hp 4st - advertised on gumtree. Sold for $1900. Cash deposit on inspection and remaining cash on final pickup.
Boat, motor and trailer package. Advertised on gumtree and Boatsonline. Lots of enquiries from both, but buyer came through Boatsonline. Sold for over 50k. Payment via CheckVault escrow service - no risk but 0.89% fee - negligible.
my experience is different buyers look on different sites. For instance I’d never buy on FB market place - because I don’t use FB. You get low bidders and time wasters on all selling platforms- you know what you’re gear is worth so stick to your guns. Anyone that asks what’s your lowest price - reply with what’s your highest offer?
I agree with the other comments that it’s easiest to sell a motor if you can demonstrate it working- preferably on a water test. I also spoke to my marine mechanic and had a quote to remove the motor from my boat and immediately fit it to another transom. That way I could offer a simple solution to the buyer (at their cost) - tow both boats to mechanic- motor swapped- buyer drives off with fitted motor. Also if someone wants an inspection I insist on having their mobile number before giving out the inspection address.
Write a bill of sale, that details buyer, seller, goods (make, model serial number), purchase price, payment method, deposit amount etc and that states title of goods does not transfer to buyer until final payment cleared.
best of luck with it
cheers Zoran
^^^^^^^^This man knows his stuff.
Great reply mate.

SP's about 20 packets a year! Hard and soft Vibes at almost $20 each is my expensive part of fishing. At least 1 a week. 🙃
At $20 a pop it doesn't take long to cry if they are lost.

What amazes me is how people can afford to keep smoking, drinking and gambling. One thing I've noticed is no matter how poor they are THEY ALWAYS FIND A WAY.
I know people that spend thousands in one night. One guy (single) at my old work would put $500 a week on lotto and power ball week in week out.
I spend bugger all as I use old gear and really only use bait and hardly get out.I don't buy new gear like rods, reels, etc.
Guys in hear that a right into it would spend $$$$$$$$.
At the end of the day each does what they want with their $$$.
I have soft plastics like gulps, squidgees I've had for years.😂

My mate uses these size 1 tint gauge Japanese circle hooks. Not sure of the brand but they're a gold colour probably about a mill or 2 thick so extremely small gauge
They look very similar to this but a bit more white on the packaging. I'll ask him exactly what they are. You have to get them at a specialist tackle store.
Cheers.I'll just order online.

HI
I have tried a few brands in the past and now use only Owner 5114 light circle sizes 1/0 & 3/0 depending
on the bait size at the time -- count to 10 and wind in .
Rgds Bob
What was the difference?I sn't a j hook a j hook and a circle a circle?

I was wondering if you use same size circles as J hooks.I'll some 1's and 4,s and see what happens.
Cheers.
-
What size circles are you guys using for bream, whiting, flathead?
I will get some and try with them next time I'm out since I don't have much luck using j hooks in hope they'll hook themselves.

I take a sling shot with me and when I see them around the boat.I load a frozen pilly cube into the slingshot and brain them.I then casually sweep them out with my net and tell them that's what happens when you don't take my bait.
In all seriousness enjoying the replies.
That same slingshot is going to be used with buckshot to sink bloody Yowie when I see him out there taking my fish.

I guess in the last few posts you were practicing what NOT to say in an interview… right Fab ?
cheers Z
Exactly.I would not have any problem if I could say what they don't want to hear.
As Jack Nicholson famously said......they can't handle the truth.

Great effort and worthwhile result.
I was going to take my boat out this morning and decided against it as I thought it would rain.
Kicking myself for not going.

That thing has a massive knob.It wouldn't win the prettiest head contest that's for sure.
It looks like a cross between Gerard Depardieu,John English,Alice Cooper and Pinocchio.
Congrats,and fabulous photos.

Hey that used to be my go to convo!
I remember many times sitting in board room meetings and doing high level presentations and using fishing or boating as an ice breaker!
The men would be chatting about how the weekend was out in their boats and how great they fished. They would show pics of fish, as you do 😂I would join in and talk boating then move on to fishing and my custom made rods and show some pics of fish. I would hand over some of my fishraider business cards and wow they all wanted to talk to me suddenly. Funny buggers 😁
All jokes aside it got me a foot in some doors at times. When is the interview @Fab1 ? What industry? Just think about all the raiders advice and good luck with it
You'd be surprised how many people you wouldn't think would fish or boat do.
Thursday ,manufacturing industry(paper mills), I come from glass industry and mining.

Don't mention fishing to them.
Just try to be natural, have an answer for everything they ask and don't appear to be fazed by a difficult question. good luck.
Cheers mate much appreciated.Do you have any advice on catching fish?Or am I beyond help now?🤣😂

No, I have caught him and have him tied up in a dungeon to let the hackings fish population come back a bit.I'll wait a while then tie him to my anchor and say goodbye.😂
