  1. Truly great stuff scratchie. ... do you ever have a bad day? Cheers Zoran .. and yes the lights are Tesla's satellite network ... it's been in the press and on other fora for a while... apparently he plans to put up some 40,000 in his grand design. (....light pollution??)
  2. Good catch there mate ... and I can vouch it was bumpy early on. I took the family out whale watching .... launching from Ermington and then out of Sydney heads northward. We looped around the Barrenjoey Wide 50 -60m grounds around 10am ... we went past a few boats with sea anchors out ... maybe you saw us in the red and white Barrycuda ! ...... we were back around Dee Why by 11 when it calmed down and it was pretty smooth after that. PS. As it turns out, the first whale we saw was back just outside Sydney Heads, and then a pod of 3 further south. Cheers Zoran

    Whales bellowing

I heard it! I immediately thought it was you opening the tackle box to get the SPs. I looked around for the chorus of dancing girls but none to be seen. 😳 cheers Zoran
  4. Sorry to hear buddy ... hope you are well on the mend ! Cheers Zoran
  5. Top stuff Bob ... some great eating there ! Cheers Zoran
  6. Hahaha ... nothing concrete to report on at the moment mate ... just dreams that Maria and I are setting into motion. Cheers Zoran
  7. Bananas… and you Bob are welcome on my boat any time! cheers Zoran
  8. Bananas Bob. Top stuff. You really fish hard - good on you and your crew. cheers Zoran
  9. Plus one between your teeth and one in each hand ! 😂 you can never have enough. hehehe. cheers Z
  10. That’s why you’re a legend! Top shelf fish Scratchie. cheers Zoran
  11. Typical trip to shelf 15 rods 2 deep drop rods 5 trolling rods 4 spinning rods - reef jig, flatties drift 2 sabiki live bait rods + whatever my guest crew brings. BARRYCUDA becomes a porcupine. cheers Zoran
  12. Donna… Get ready for a long list of every FishRaider that has ever mentioned SPs 🤣😂 I can guess who might be at the top of the list cheers Zoran
  13. Yes us Veggies do exist ! ....But I guess you have to agree weed is bait ! ... and weed being a plant, makes wood with hooks a bait ... hmmm the conundrum thickens. And to @JamoDamo's point .... feathers tied to a hook would be bait... they were once part of a living thing. And as for being man made ..... dough and bread are man made from things that were once living ... and make damn good bait for many species .... And just like dough, plastics are man made .... from oil ... and oil itself just happens to come from things that were once living - forests, plankton etc buried under rock for millions of years ..... Hmmmm ... its pretty much pointing to @kingie chaser's view that anything you stick on a hook is BAIT ! .... the only exception being a chunk of metal - that would be a lure then - imitating BAIT. Cheers Zoran 😎 😇
  14. I guess WEED not being animal must be plastic then 🤔 cheers Zoran
  15. Sounds like the start of a plan … look forward to it 👍 cheers Zoran
  16. Top effort Brendo ! ... beware hairtail fishing can get contagious ... it usually takes a few nights of missed sleep in freezing conditions to recover ... but the bug just returns .... hmmmm which now has me wondering.... Cheers Zoran
  17. Thanks Sam. Conditions early on had steady large rollers and a frosty wind but all that died down and turned out glorious. PLASTICS - there it is again. Somethings wrong with my keyboard 🤔. Actually more than half were caught on that stuff and all the biggest 60+cm models. We had a double hookup within seconds but brought up one large flattie that had both of our hooks in its mouth - one SP and the other a bait hook. Tangled the lines good and proper. Anyway that stuff works for me so just sharing 😇 Insightful questions mate. Caught the fish within 200m of original unproductive drifts. But early on with outgoing tide and nw winds the drift was SE 2.5kmh. Drift and drop with my anchor produced the banjos and juvies. Once tide changed drift was S 1kmh And eventually only 15meters / min !!! Absolutely perfect drift conditions. Cheers Zoran
  18. Well it turned out well (persistence sometimes pays off). Hahaha- yes the Merc black beast completes the look for sure. I think Merc put the red pro xs stripes just for little me 🤣 cheers Zoran
  19. Hahaha. Now you have me thinking - I’ll have to add to my checklist to organize for Bob to keep calling me ! cheers Zoran
  20. Hey Raiders, A few days late in posting this report up. @Pickles mentioned in his earlier report that we were discussing catching up on the water. The forecast for Wednesday 19.05.2021 was for an outgoing tide till the 9am dead low, then rising.. NW low winds of around 10kts and a 1.2m swell from S with well spaced 14sec interval. With the potential to get bumpy I made a call to head north away from Sydney Harbour (as I had my mate Wayno on board who hasn't been out for a while) and Bob decided to work the Harbour and punch north to Longie if conditions allowed. Wayno and I launched from Parsley Bay around 6.45 - all good just a few trailers in the car park and were at the 50m grounds in no time. Bait was salted yakkas and frozen squid with the usual assortment of PLASTICs in the mix. Found Banjos and tiddlers galore. Headed to 60m grounds for more banjos. It was now around 10.20am and nothing in the esky so we decided to head back closer in it was looking like a donut day. Back at the 50m grounds I chose a different drift and I thought I'd call Bob to check on things Sydney way - no answer so I left him a message. A minute later, Wayno hooks up to a fish .... .... at the end of the video you can hear my phone ringing ... that's Bob calling me back and just as we start talking my rod goes off ... so I had to drop the call as politely as possible ! Well after that we had a pretty steady flow of flatties up until 2.00pm when we called it. Final count 19 flatties. 1 large octopus. 1 red spot whiting. The flatties were in prime condition - we only kept the ones 45-62cm. Cheers and till next time ... tight lines to all... Zoran
  21. Well thanks for posting up and referencing little me! But it was @kingie chaser (Adrian) that requested it. BTW, top photo and beautiful rig 👍👍 it’s always a magic time just before you push off cheers Zoran
  22. I often wondered what caused that fanfare of trumpets - so now I know. Wow I also knew that we salt and dry down pillies and bonnie fillets but I think you have set a first for drying gulps! Gees now that’s being progressive. Anyway seems we have established that gulps (SPs) are indeed bait and that has reminded me I need to follow up the swordies regarding my SP bait record submission. cheers Zoran
  23. I agree .... but @Yowie may take objection to it 🤣 cheers Zoran
  24. I have the split plastic corrugated tube held on by several cable ties protecting the wiring loom. The fuel line is in the bundle. It extends from the stern to the motor. the tube split faces down so any significant quantity of liquid can drain. Of course there would be some liquid residue in the corrugations. My boat lives in the open. For me, the main purpose of the loom cover is to provide UV protection and some additional mechanical protection (abrasion resistance) to the cables and fuel line. On my boat depending how the motor is trimmed the loom touches the non slip coating of the marlin board - the protector provides an extra layer. I am ok with some residual salt water being in there as the electrical cables are double insulated already and everything is waterproof. leaking fuel is easy to detect it SMELLS and can be seen floating on water - especially during wash down. Are you sure your fuel leak wasn’t caused when you were pulling off the protector? cheers Zoran PS - I have used spiral wrap in past. Just found that the wraps moved apart and hence compromised UV protection. I have not tried the mesh but don’t think it will provide UV protection.
