  1. Thanks Baz. Yes thought about that but it would make the jig quite a bit larger. I find it works well as is for me. It swivels around in the direction of pull and then stops. I’m sure others will modify to suit what works for them. Cheers Z
  2. Hey Raiders, Second post of the evening. Thought I'd share how I tie an FG knot (mono to braid, or Fluoro Carbon FC to braid) using my DIY FG jig. I had tied plenty of FGs using my hands, feet, teeth and struggled keeping tension so never quite felt comfortable the end product was secure. I looked at the $69.99 FG knot jogs and was tempted but thought is it really worth a good bottle of scotch.... NAH ! Anyway, a few months ago I came up with the jig I show in the video - I have used it since and its been a gem. So sharing in the hope it helps some other Raider. Cheers Zoran
  3. Hey Raiders, Thought I'd share how I tie Paternoster Rigs using my DIY peg board. I'd never claim to having invented the peg board but geez since I've made mine it's made a huge difference. I pump out 5 paternosters in the time it took me to make one - and they are all the same !!!! Anyway sharing in the hope it helps some other Raider. Cheers Zoran
  4. Rick mate. You should have packed that ALDI 7ft telescopic rod - I’ve heard elsewhere they work great 👍! Cheers Zoran
  5. Can you post a picture of your unit - the helm pump and the ram near the motor please. Maybe we can identify the brand/model. If you read the hydrive container it makes some compatibility claims - could be to do with the types of seals used. Cheers Z
  6. I use the following stuff - same brand as my unit. Cheers Zoran
  7. Looks like a fantastic trip, great scenery, photos and fish to boot...... fun times for all! Cheers Zoran PS - regarding .... ... maybe its Darwin's theory at work. the dam would be as closed an ecosystem as you could get. Past success with spinners has reduced the spinner susceptible gene pool - so now the dam is dominated by the gene pool that didn't succumb to the spinners ! Just a thought.
  8. Bahaha ... you would need a cliff flying gaff hook to get the catch up ... but I would pay to see the look on the crews face as you bled the catch on the white deck ! Cheers Z 😂
  9. Very insightful article - the personal experience and passion just shines through. Something we have discussed in several topics on FR - commercial fishing, commercial fishing, commercial fishing - I am so over commercial fishing.... Thanks for sharing. Cheers Zoran
  10. Sounds SWEET Fab !! ... but then I love the sound of outboards ! Better luck with fishing next time mate. Cheers Zoran
  11. Wow. Sounds like fun. Can’t wait for them to grow a bit ! cheers Zoran
  12. Well following on from @Fab1 's topic about remembering the 80s .....and especially if any of you have watched Bohemian Rhapsody recently and remembered the fatastic music we had then..... this clip is most timely and SO TRUE ! Enjoy.... Cheers Zoran
  13. I'm in awe !!! .... just like the guy standing behind him in the photo !!!! Well done. Cheers Zoran
  14. Have you talked to our site sponsor?? Cheers Zoran
  15. Bahaha Sounds like you are trying to revive it .... perhaps to dispatch it more humanely next time ! Z
  16. Great report Bear....glad to see you (and the Mrs) back on the water. Congrats on the PB ! Cheers Zoran
  17. Hahaha. Welcome to the world of backups. Samsung, Hitachi, Toshiba generally have a better reputation. WD is an economy brand. But if you really want to preserve some digital content the recommendation is to have a copy on at least 3 devices stored separately. Cheers Z
  18. Ahhhh. The GoPro addiction. Know it well. Suggest you buy him (or yourself) an external HD for Xmas. . Those GoPro videos go through some storage.... and if he is anything like me he can’t chuck any of it away !!! cheers Z

  20. Fishing is as much about the memories and mateship as the fish. So happy for you. Thanks for sharing! Cheers Zoran
  21. ..... exactly .... we took responsibility for ourselves and our actions ... good and bad ... we experimented with bad (who didn't?) but we learnt quickly bad things tend to hurt and it was our own fault .... we owned our own achievements and failures equally ..... there was no participation award ! ...and of course we went fishing ! Cheers Z
  22. Its called an ikijime and there is a technique to use with different fish.... Discussed previously in posts... you can use the search bar... but I think all the info is summarized well by @Scienceman in this post... Cheers Zoran
  23. Yes ... very tasty indeed - couple of meals already served and more planned - my wife mentioned she's pretty sure the relos are dropping in on the w/e. We ended up with 6.2kg of flathead fillets between us, can't complain from 20 fish. Cheers Z
  24. 1980 .... I just finished my HSC, last day of high school, thought shit theres 3months before uni starts, walked home past the local RSL (still dressed in school uniform), stepped in and asked for a job, got chewed out by the doorman, stood my ground, manager came out to check on the commotion .... liked my initiative and I started work that night at 6pm. We didn't have much, and we didn't expect much .... knew you had to make your own way back then ....... Cheers Zoran
  25. Good stuff ! Would love to see some video. Thanks for sharing. Cheers Zoran
