  1. That was on a week day! I wonder how many boats will be out tonight, sat and sun night in that same bay? Glad i work weekends
  2. Just got back from waratah, was busy for a Monday night. We got 24 hairtail in three hours, all on pillys. Great to see them back in the system! Conditions were perfect out there, no wind and heaps of fish! Big thanks to pure spirit for his help.
  3. That is just the best!!!!!!!! What a top jew, good on you champ!!!!!!!!
  4. G'day raiders, planning on hitting the beach tomorrow night. Appreciate if any one can give me a heads up on wether there is any kelp around? Or enough to make fishing a headache. Want to throw some live yakkas out, but i'm not going to bother if there's heaps around. Not worth all the hard yakka! Thanks.
  5. Anchor up near the moored boats closest to the baths. Burley up and fish light. But if you're really keen, rock up to where you hire the boat before the sun comes up and fish for them near the moored bundenna ferry. If you do the later, getting the yakkas is really easy.

    Bait in JB

Sound around longnose point, you'll get them there.
  7. Off the beach at the moment is going nuts. I was chasing jew on monday night and i got 3 horse bream the biggest going 48cm on 7/0's baited with slabs of yakkas.
  8. Great catch captain! I'm going to give it a go tonight off the beach.
  9. Restaurants have 20lt buckets of mayo they usually throw out. You could always walk in or call one and ask the chef if you could have one?
  10. You were "sharked" for sure jot. Some big boys out there at the moment. Also ditch the wire trace if you want any chance of getting a jew.
  11. The best place to buy bait IMO is the fish markets, but you must visit each shop, they all vary greatly, its up to you to check them all out and suss out the fresher stuff.
  12. Avalon, Newport and North Narra.
  13. Squid and yakkas from the freezer. I also got a big tailor last nite which i got 5 baits out of, cut the head off on a angle so u get some belly with guts in it, and i cut the two slabs in half. A big noah took the head bait and the jew took the slab. It still amazes me how quick a beach can change, 3 days earlier it was unfishable and last nite not 1 piece of kelp in the water.
  14. Wanted to do a night harbour sesh in my boat last nite but my gut was telling me to hit the beach instead. So armed with bait that went into the freezer after thurs nite aborted sesh cause of all the kelp that choked the 3 beaches that i tried, i went back to one of them. And did i cop a work out, landed 20 plus bronzies and lost a good jew in the 4 hour sesh. The best beach sesh i have ever had!!! Biggest bronzie landed was a 4 footer and there were much bigger ones laughing at my 60lb trace.
  15. Went out last night and i wind up trying 3 beachs cause they were all chockablock full of kelp. As soon as the sinker hit the bottom, bang i'm on. Very p#@sd off, especially since i was armed with squid i just caught and all the beach's had a very fishy feel about them.
  16. Awesome report as usual wacko, top stuff That stripey just looks unreal, what did the damage on the bull?
  17. I just got the furuno fcv 620 which is just like the 585 only smaller and without the 1 kw which you wont need anyway. I got it from the states for $950 and its an awesome unit.
  18. That's just awesome, and having that bull hang around would of been wicked! How deep is the fad you were at?
  19. I've got the penn 950ss loaded with 50lb braid and i love it.
  20. Clifton gardens is one of the best if not the best wharf to fish from, its big, its near the heads, and lots of fish go cruising past looking for and rounding up bait!. The key is to catch your bait there and fish early! And have a long handled net or gaff. Weekends in the afternoon is like pitt street.
  21. Don't give up on the jewies dave! Should of used those yakkas off the beach at night. Gang hooks are only good for catching tailor on pillys. Gamakatsu in the octopus pattern is the way to go. Salmon is fun but catching a jew is something you will never forget! Good luck
  22. 3 - 5kg range. You're right, it was an unreal site. I was heading from quarantine to clifton when i came across them. Gotta love this city, ok a lot of shit happens but there is also a lot of magic!
  23. I was out on tuesday morning and came across to my surprise a big school of dolphin fish working a big patch of sauries from the heads to dobroyd... what a buzz that was! They're are a heap of rats in the harbour but also some real hoods, got dusted big time by 2 in the 15 - 20kg class on live squid and yakkas. Took home a 90cm that went for a yakka in the main harbour.
  24. Nice kingy champ, congrats and good on you for getting out there. There is no way i could've handled all that boat traffic out there on wednesday. I took the family to castle rock and all the boats that were anchored up there was amazing. And all the boats heading into the harbour was even more Ahh school goes back, so mid week fishing will be paradise again... cant wait!!!!!!
  25. I was at one of the harbour markers the other day, and saw one of sydneys famous charter boats get stuck into easily 20 rats in th 50 - 60cm range and they kept each one! With only 2 anglers on board the broke the bag limit rule too. Shame on you
